Summer Social Catholic Community of Washington is hosting their Summer Social on Saturday June 6 and Sunday June 7, 2015. Saturday evening the events include: a Cornhole Tournament, DJ service, food, and inflatables for all ages! This year a NEW game called Meltdown has made its way to our Summer Social. It is based off the television show Wipeout. Zip lines and bubble soccer are also new items for this year. You re probably thinking what is bubble soccer; it s when sumo wrestling and soccer collide. On Saturday night we will have the kids games along with our new section of things for the older kids and adults. All these events will begin at 5 pm with Bingo beginning at 6:30 in the air conditioned, smoke free multi-purpose room. Sunday events will begin at 11 am and include an All-youcan-eat fried chicken and roast beef dinners with homemade noodles served in our air conditioned school cafeteria. Dinner is served in the cafeteria from 11 amto 3 pm and the prices are as follows: $10 adult, $5 ages 6-12, Free under 5, $7 carry out. Grand Raffle has 21 prizes this year including $1000 cash prize to the first name drawn who is present to win, Amish Quilt Raffle, Theme Basket Raffle, flower wheel, kids games, dunk tank, multiple food stands including Fish Sandwiches, inflatables for all ages, and a zip line. Heather Wilson Memorial Day Mass The Washington K of C #630 will host their annual Memorial Day Mass May 25 at St. John Cemetery. This Mass honors our military men and women who sacrificed their lives for freedom. After Mass a breakfast will be served and open to the people. Our special guest speaker is Tony Jones, a 1966 WCHS graduate and a retired military. We are so honored for him to share with us his experiences of military life. Picnic with the Bishop Do you think that you re alone in considering a call to priesthood, religious life or lay church ministry? (Evansville time), at Holy Cross Church in Fort Branch, there will be an evening of adoration in celebration of the ordination to the Diaconate of Tyler Tenbarge. This time of prayer and worship before the Blessed Sacrament is an opportunity to pray for Tyler as he prepares for ordination to following day. In addition, this is also a call for all people, especially the young, to recognize the presence of God among us and to be aware of His invitation to a life of fulfillment in following His will. The conference aims to teach young women what it means to be a girl of Godly character in school and in life, how to be confident in who they are in Christ, strengthen their relationship with Christ, and help them learn how to handle the stress of being a teen in our world today. Illuminate Girls Conference is Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the Washington High School Auditorium. Our guest speaker this year is Melanie Dickerson. She is a National Reader's Choice award winning author. She will be speaking about how to be empowered by the light of Christ in your daily life as a teen.
