It serves children with emotional, social and physical challenges and their parents, in a recreational and educational environment. Acceptance on referral basis only, but concerned parents may call to be referred to a private physician to confirm need for therapy. Referrals from professional personnel usually are for faulty neuromuscular control and/or physical fitness or other types of developmental problems. It is not a formal medical, physical therapy, occupational therapy or psychotherapy program. Children are matched with trained volunteer clinicians who guide them as they play and learn. The Parentmobile travels to Baltimore County schools, community fairs, apartment complexes, and local businesses. Visitors can learn about the services and resources available to them and their children that promote learning and increased student achievement. Who is Eligible?: Pregnant Baltimore County residents of any age who have Medical Assistance and are at risk of having a pregnancy with medical or psychosocial difficulties. Risk is defined by one or more factors such as age; use of tobacco, alcohol or other drugs; history of previous birth complications; lack of access to medical care; health conditions of the mother; or lack of basic necessities (food, shelter, or income). 11 Crisis Intervention Programs 1. Baltimore County Crisis Team: 24/7 Hotline: (410) 931-2214 Mobile Crisis Team: (MCT) Staffed by specially trained County police officers and mental health clinicians, MCT can respond on-site to calls from the eastern portion of the County. Hours of operation: Daily 10:00 a.m. 1:00 a.m. In Home Intervention Team (IHIT): Staffed by mental health professionals, IHIT can provide non-crisis, on-site assistance County-wide, beginning January 2006, Monday -Friday, 12:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Urgent Care Clinic: Two locations available 7 days/week, Monday-Friday evenings, Saturday/Sunday daytime. The clinic can provide an appointment within 48 hours for urgent cases requiring assessment and brief treatment. 2. Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) (Baltimore City): (410) 433-5255 Hotline: Available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, the hotline provides help to people who are having a psychiatric crisis and to people who are homeless. Crisis Team Services: From 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. 7 days/week, the Crisis Team will go to where the individual is located to provide crisis services. The Crisis Team provides services to adults who are residents of Baltimore City. The Crisis Team will go to the individual's home, the emergency department, a clinic or any other location in or near Baltimore City. BCRI provides beds to people in psychiatric crisis, including people in need of drug or alcohol detoxification. BCRI provides aftercare and provides assistance in applying for benefits. BCRI cannot assist people with major non-psychiatric medical problems. 3. Baltimore Child And Adolescents Response System (B-CARS): 410-433-5175 B-CARS provides crisis services to people under 18 years old who are having a psychiatric crisis and who are residents of Baltimore City. B-CARS provides crisis services to youths in their homes. B- CARS helps arrange for any other necessary services. B-CARS provides follow-up services to youths who have been discharged from a hospital. B-CARS takes calls 24 hours a day everyday. Emergency Department personnel can call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The crisis teams will go to where the youth is located, including the home, the emergency department, a clinic or other locations. 4. Baltimore County Department of Social Services 410-853-3000 24-hours, 7 days a week referral line to connect you to a wide range of services and people who can best help you. All reports of suspected child or adult abuse and neglect, as well as all requests for services to families, adults or adolescents are handled by this unit. 5. Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center Hotline 410-531-6677 Local crisis intervention services, including suicide, are available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Professional counseling staff and trained volunteers will listen, provide support and make referrals. Crisis intervention counseling is available by phone or in person for anyone in need of immediate assistance with a personal, situational, or mental health crisis. Services are free of charge and confidential. 6.
