Configuring your 3G18WV for VOIP The following steps will take you through the process of setting up your VOIP connection. Step 1: Checking Computer Network Settings: You will need to connect your computer directly to your VOIP device (modem, or ATA) and set the network connection on your computer to obtain an IP address automatically. Please follow the instructions appropriate for your operating system below: Below are the instructions for setting Windows XP to obtain an IP address automatically for your ethernet connection: 1. Click on the Start Menu, and go to Control Panel. 2. Click on Network Connections. (If you only see "Network and Internet Connections", open that first, and then click on "Network Connections".) 3. Right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. 4. Double-click on Internet Protocol. 5. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically", and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". 6. Click OK, and then click OK (or Close ). Below are the instructions for setting Windows Vista to obtain an IP address automatically for your ethernet connection: 1. Click on the Start Menu, and go to Control Panel. 2. Click on Network and Sharing Centre. (If you only see "Network and Internet", open that first, and then click on "Network and Sharing Centre".) 3. Click on Manage network connections (on the lefthandside of the window). 4. Right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. 5. Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). 6. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically", and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". 7. Click OK, and then click OK again.

Below are the instructions for setting Windows 7 to obtain an IP address automatically for your ethernet connection: 1. Click on the Start Menu, and go to Control Panel. 2. Click on Network and Sharing Centre. (If you only see "Network and Internet", open that first, and then click on "Network and Sharing Centre".) 3. Click on Change adapter settings (on the lefthandside of the window). 4. Right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. 5. Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). 6. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically", and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". 7. Click OK, and then click OK again. Below are the instructions for setting Mac OS X to obtain an IP address automatically for your ethernet connection: 1. Click on the Apple Menu, and go to "System Preferences". 2. Click on "Network". 3. Click on Ethernet or "Built-in Ethernet". 4. Click on the "Configure" drop-down box, and select "Using DHCP" then click "Apply".

Step 2: Configuring your VOIP settings: Troubleshooting Tip One sided VOIP calls may be an indication of a missing or misconfigured port forwarding rule. 1. Open your web browser and go to the address http://192.168.20.1, using admin as the system password to login to the router. 2. Select VoiP Setup and press the Enter button or select the VoIP administrator's menu option at the top of the page as shown below in Figure 1.

3. Select SIP Settings from the VoIP menu options and then Service Domain settings page. 4. Enter the VoIP account settings that iinet, your VoIP Service Provider (VSP) has directed you to use as shown by the text box directions in Figure 2 below.

Service Domain Fields Display Name The Display Name for your VoIP Service. This is most often the VoIP phone number you have been assigned by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP). Other options are the VoIP account owner's name or a company name. User Name The VoIP phone number you have been assigned by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP). Register Name Sometimes known as Authentication ID, enter the VoIP phone number you have been assigned by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP). Register Password The VoIP account password that has been assigned by your VoIP Service Provider. Realm A realm is a protection domain used by some VoIP Service Providers for security with the VoIP Service Provider SIP Domain name usually being added for this field. Domain Domain name or IP address as specified by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP). Proxy Server Domain name or IP address as specified by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP). Registrar A registrar is a server that accepts registrations from users and collates these registrations, (which are essentially location information), in a database known as a Location Service. This associates a user with a particular location (IP address); which is known as a binding in SIP (Session Initiation Protocol or SIP used for VoIP traffic). Unless directed otherwise by your VoIP Service Provider enter the SIP domain name or IP address as specified by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP). Use Outbound Server If you wish to make outbound phone calls using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) instead of via POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) enable this option. Outbound Proxy Domain name or IP address as directed by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP). Subscribe for MWI Enable or Disable the use of the Message Waiting Indicator function. This service will only be available if your VoIP Service Provider (VSP) has an MWI server in uses You may need to request that this service be enabled by your VoIP Service Provider (VSP).on your VoIP account. 5. After entering all relevant Service Domain fields press the Save button. 6. The Status field in the Service Domain Settings will state that the SIP status is currently Registered after the VoIP account settings have been successfully entered, saved and activated on the 3G18WV. 7. To confirm the VoIP connection status select the Status option from the administrator's menu at the top of the page. The VoIP status will indicate that VoIP service is registered and in a ready state, as shown in Figure 3 below.
