BASIC INSTALLATION The router can be configured through your web browser. A web browser is included as a standard application in the following operating systems: Linux, Mac OS, Windows 98/NT/2000/XP/Me/Vista/7, etc. The product provides an easy and user-friendly interface for configuration. Please check your PC network components. The TCP/IP protocol stack and Ethernet network adapter must be installed. If not, please refer to your Windows-related or other operating system manuals. There are various ways to connect the router, either through an external repeater/hub or connect directly to your PC. However, make sure that your PC has an Ethernet interface properly installed prior to connecting the router. You must configure your PC to obtain an IP address through a DHCP server or a fixed IP address that must be in the same subnet as the router. The default IP address of the router is and the subnet mask is (i.e. any attached PC must be in the same subnet, and have an IP address in the range of to ). The best and easiest way is to configure the PC to get an IP address automatically from the router using DHCP. If you encounter any problems accessing the router web interface it is advisable to uninstall your firewall program on your PC, as these tend to cause problems accessing the IP address of the router. Users should make their own decisions on what is best to protect their network. Please follow the following steps to configure your network environment. Any TCP/IP capable workstation can be used to communicate with or through this router. To configure other types of workstations, please consult your manufacturer documentation. 4 P a g e

GATEWAY CONFIGURATION Accessing your gateway Connect a computer to your gateway using an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. Open an Internet browser and enter the web address or to access your gateway web browser. In order to access the Web Browser you will need to enter username and password. The default username and password are admin and admin respectively. Congratulations! You are now successfully logged onto the gateway! 11 P a g e

Displaying the activated services In the "Box" tab, select "Services Status". This interface will allow you to display the services that are currently activated on your gateway. Configuring your broadband Internet access To configure your ADSL internet connection: Set the connection protocol to PPPoE, Enter the connection identifiers (PPP Login and PPP Password) given by your Internet service provider If you set the connection protocol to DHCP, you do not need to enter your username and password; normally this is not done when Physical Link is set to ADSL. If necessary, change the DNS server address. A connection can also be established via the Ethernet WAN port, Physical Link should then be set to Ethernet. This can be done by either having the Pace dial-out through another WAN connection device, by assigning a static IP in the same range as the primary WAN connection device or by having the Pace obtain an IP from the WAN connection device to which the Ethernet WAN port is connected. If you have a compatible 3G modem connected to the router, 3GParametes can be enabled. You will be required to enter your APN and Dial number, consult your service provider for these details. You will also need to enter the SIM PIN. PPPoE Pass Through enabled will allow you to have a PPPoE session established on the Pace as well as allowing individual LAN hosts to dial PPPoE sessions, using their own ISP access details. 12 P a g e

13 P a g e

Configuring your local network The default local IP address of your gateway is Your connected hardware items will have an IP address in the range to If you want to change your local network s addressing plan, select the "LAN" menu under the "Router" heading. Securing your Internet access Your gateway has a firewall with 4 levels of security: None: the firewall is deactivated Normal: the firewall filters incoming packets according to NAT rules. This is the default mode. Maximum: the firewall filters incoming and outgoing packets Custom: the firewall lets you define the rules: Enter an application name Enter the IP address and the source port of the IP packet to filter Enter the IP address and the destination port of the IP packet to filter Define the action type as accepted (green arrow) or refused (red arrow) 14 P a g e

Authorizing programs to access the Internet Your gateway contains a firewall that blocks any communication initiated from outside network. This function may affect some applications behaviour: - Online games - Communication tools ( , video conferencing, etc.) - Server applications (FTP, SMTP) To allow some of your applications to pass through the firewall: Select the "Applications" menu in the "Box" tab Select the applications you require from the drop-down menus Click OK to confirm Configuring the NAT The forwarding table allows all the packets received via a specific port to be transmitted to a specific machine on the internal network. Therefore, if you want to be able to access a web server operating on machine from outside, you will have to define a forwarding rule that redirects all the TCP packets received via port 80 to another defined port on machine P a g e

To configure a NAT rule: Indicate an application name Select the protocol type: TCP or UDP Enter the port that has to be forwarded to the internal service Indicate the address of the hardware on the local network, followed by the destination port. The request will be forwarded to this private address Setting up Dynamic DNS The Dynamic DNS function allows you to alias a dynamic IP address to a static hostname, allowing users whose ISP does not assign them a static IP address to use a domain name. This is especially useful for hosting servers via your DSL connection, so that anyone wishing to connect to you may use your domain name, rather than having to use your dynamic IP address, which changes from time to time. This dynamic IP address is the WAN IP address of the router, which is assigned to you by your ISP. You will first need to register and establish an account with the Dynamic DNS provider using their website, for example 16 P a g e

Dynamic DNS: Disabled: Check to disable the Dynamic DNS function. Enabled: Check to enable the Dynamic DNS function. The following fields will be activated and required. Dynamic DNS Server: Select the DDNS service you have established an account with. Domain Name, Username and Password: Enter your registered domain name and your username and password for this service. Defining a DMZ The DMZ enables you to show a machine on the Internet with no restriction on the ports used. It allows you to open all previously undefined ports (port forwarding) to a single LAN machine: Click "Enabled" to enable the service Enter the IP address of the machine that will be in the DMZ Click OK to confirm 17 P a g e

Activating UPnP The UPnP IGD feature allows some applications to configure the NAT automatically. Configuring Telephony features Click the account you want to edit and then select the "SIP" voice protocol. 18 P a g e

Define the order of the G729, G711A, G711µ codecs. Enter the SIP parameters: URI : enter your telephone number Username / Password: The username and password are used to register your Voice account on the SIP server. Enter the exact values given by your Internet provider You can select to which FXS port the above entered information pertains by ticking the boxes next to port 1, 2 or both. This can also be done with the Choose the line for this profile dropdown menu for individual ports. Display Name: A descriptive name for the Voice account. Registrar Server: enter the SIP server s IP address Registrar Port: leave the default value, if your VoIP provider has not supplied a port number 19 P a g e

Proxy Server: enter the SIP Proxy IP address Proxy Port: leave the default value, if your VoIP provider has not supplied a port number User Agent Domain: This is usually the same as your Registrar Server, check with you VoIP provider. User Agent Port: Usually the same as your Registrar Port, check with your VoIP provider. Configuring your wireless network Your gateway supports Wi-Fi standard g and n, but is also compatible with standard b. Use the Select mode drop-down list to change your Wi-Fi mode: b: to connect with b devices only g: to connect with g devices only n: to connect with n devices only b+g: to connect with both b and g Wi-Fi device types g+n: to connect with both g and n Wi-Fi device types b+g+n: to connect with all Wi-Fi device types Auto: to let your gateway select the best Wi-Fi mode 20 P a g e

By default, your gateway automatically selects the best Wi-Fi channel. However, you can select a channel manually. Your gateway is configured with one active Wi-Fi network. The default encryption type is WPA2, but you can choose another. Saving and restoring settings To save your settings, click "Back up your Parameters". Select your file s location on your computer and confirm. To restore the settings, select the file path to the previously saved file and click "Restore". 21 P a g e

TROUBLESHOOTING If the router is not functioning properly, first check this chapter for simple troubleshooting before contacting the Help desk. Problems with the router Problem None of the LEDs are lit when the router is turned on. You have forgotten your login username or password Suggested Action Check the connection between the router and the adapter. If the problem persists, most likely it is due to the malfunction of your hardware. Please contact your service provider or Modem support Try the default username & password. If this fails, restore your router to its default settings by pressing and holding the reset button for more than 10 seconds. Problems with WAN interface Problem DSL Line does not synchronise Frequent loss of DSL line sync (disconnection) Suggested Action Make sure that the telephone cable is properly connected between the DSL port and the wall socket. The Broadband LED on the front panel should be lit. Reboot the router. If you still have a problem, you may need to verify these settings with your ISP. Make sure that all devices (e.g. telephone, fax machine, analogue modems) that are connected to the same telephone line as your router have a line filter connected between them and the wall outlet (unless you are using a Central Splitter or Central Filter installed by a qualified and licensed electrician). Make sure that all line filters are correctly installed, as missing line filters or incorrect installation of line filters can cause DSL connection problems, including frequent disconnections. Problem with LAN interface Problem Cannot PING any PC on LAN Suggested Action Check the Ethernet LEDs on the front panel. The LED should be on. If it is not on, check to see if the cable between your router and the PC is properly connected. Make sure you have disabled your firewall program before troubleshooting.
