1 INTRODUCTION The VisualFleet system, projected and supplied by Soft-in, can monitor at a distance position and movement of the vehicles that have been equipped with the MTP (MobileTelematic Platform) units. The software application, identified as VisualFleet has been projected, by unifying new transport requests with the latest advanced technology available on the market. The complete system is made up of the mobile part (MTP) that is on the vehicle, and the fixed part (operative centre) that is usually a company computer or a server in an IT network. The mobile part is a programmable telematic platform, which has been installed with a GPS system (to obtain position data) and a GSM telephone (to communicate with the operative centre). The MTP has a memory, which allows it to be independent in the case of GSM network (and so operative centre) loss. The fixed part of the system is a PC with the software Visual Fleet ; it is also required a GSM modem to communicate to the vehicle via the GSM infrastructure, at a low cost, (SMS) which is activated during the data exchange. Modem GSM: FALCON A2D Nokia-CardPhone SIEMENS TC35 PC with: Win98, ME, 2000 Application: GEOVIEW The software package is made up of the following programs: ACP SERVICEOPERATOR VISUALFLEET CONFIG_SO GSM modem communication handling. Software engine and database manager. User interface and map facilities Setup and Configuration program Page 2 of 6
2 VISUALFLEET MAIN FUNCTIONS The picture above shows one of the page screen of the VisualFleet software. The main functions of Visual Fleet software can be summarised below: 2.1 Creation of a fleet of vehicles VisualFleet software allows to create a custom fleet of vehicles. For each vehicles it is possible to specify the corresponding car data and assign a driver with his personal data and the mobile phone number. In the main fleet page the vehicle status, description and driver data will be displayed within the date and time of last position received.. 2.2 Send / Receive TEXT SMS Messages TEXT SMS messages could be sent and received to/from drivers mobile phones. It is possible to select a driver name, a vehicle name or provide directly the destination telephone number for outgoing messages. Received text SMS are immediately decoded and displayed in the apposite page screen. Page 3 of 6
2.3 Vehicle Tracking The Vehicle Tracking commands allows the user to get the position of the fleet vehicles; the are two possible tracking modes: Manual mode It's possible to get the current position by a manual request Automatic mode it's possible to get automatically the positions by a configuration command. The user has to defines a time interval and then send this configuration to one or more vehicles in order to obtain automatically (periodically) the positions. The vehicle position is displayed directly on the map with a corresponding TRACK icon. 2.4 Alarm handling The MTP system generates alarm messages on different situations: Driver press anti-robbery button Out of route Unauthorised door open Diagnostic errors VisualFleet software receives these alarm messages, store them and display in the alarm window. Within the alarm indication an automatic tracking position is also started. The user has then to decide what it best to do once the alarm has been recognised. It can acknowledge it and stop the tracking, or leave the tracking active and stop it later on. The user has the possibility to view the vehicle position trace directly on the map; each alarm message indicates date, time, position and the alarm reason. 2.5 Route handling The user has the possibility to create routes for each vehicle. To create the route he just need to enter a starting point, a destination point and optionally some intermediate points. The route is then displayed on the map and it can be sent to the vehicle s MTP. The MTP will control the vehicle s position against the configured route and will react accordingly with alarm messages in case exiting out of this route. It will be also calculated the theoretical time and distance for the specified route. Combining the route management to the tracking service the user has then the possibility to know the remaining time and distance to the end of route for specified vehicle. Page 4 of 6
2.6 Adding Shop on the MAP (door open allowed areas) The user has the possibility to add shops in the map. These points can be used as points of a route (starting, ending or intermediate points). These points are then sent to the vehicle s MTP with the route. These points are used by the MTP as authorisation areas to open the track doors. In the case the track doors are opened out of this areas (circles with specified radius) it will send an alarm message to VisualFleet centre. 2.7 Downloading route data It's possible to download, manually at any time, or automatically at end of route the historical position of a vehicle. These points are collected every 500 meters directly by the vehicle s MTP. The download operation is executed with a GSM data connection; once the historical points has been downloaded, they are displayed on the map and removed from the MTP memory. 2.8 Comparison of real and theoretical route The user has the possibility to review real delivery routes comparing it with the theoretical configured route. The comparison is directly shown in the map. 2.9 Configuration It's possible to configure each vehicle separately to enable / disable some alarm indication, start an automatic tracking or download automatically the historical position at end of route or when the MTP memory is near to the full limit. 2.9.1 Provisioning This functions is used the activate / deactivate a remote MTP functionality. It adds or remove the telematics services providing/removing the ServiceOperator telephone numbers. Page 5 of 6
3 OFFLINE FUNCTIONS 3.1 Use of the map for the research of streets and places The software foresees the possibility to research addresses, roads and places by using a research database that has very detailed and up to date maps. On the maps you will also find that street numbers, names (even minor ones) offices, restaurants, petrol stations, museums, libraries and more are included in order to help the person travelling. 3.1.1 Position report It is possible to print and generate report (Excel, HTML format) with the position received, the list of delivery routes and all the data received from the vehicle.
