SafeDispatch v4.0 Application Overview and Technical Details AN AWARD WINNING SOLUTION AT YOUR FINGERTIPS The system is composed of three main applications, two auxiliary apps and a postgres database: Main Applications: Application Server Mobile The central mobile app that connects the database to your mobile device. SafeDispatch Mobile application, installed on an Android mobile phone/tablet. Full SafeDispatch System with an IP static for the PC where the Application server will be installed.
Main Application Details Before you begin installation of SafeDispatch Mobile, your SafeDispatch System should be properly configured. 1. Application Server This app is the central app that connects all others to the database and each other. In order for SafeDispatch v4.0 and SD Mobile to work properly, the Application Server Program MUST run simultaneously. The Application may be minimized in your toolbar once launched. App server must be installed on the same PC where the database is installed. Figure 1 Application server with dongle connected Figure 2 Application server with no dongle connected 2. Gateway This app connects the system with MOTOTRBO radios. SafeDispatch can have more than one Gateway app installed on different PC s. All the communication between the Gateways and the Application server is done through UDP multicast protocol. So if more than one PC is used in the SafeDispatch then all the PC s must be connected in a LAN with multicast enabled. Figure 3 MOTOTRBO Gateway NOTE: The MOTOTRBO Gateway Application MUST be running in order to receive any data from the subscriber radios. The Application may be minimized in your toolbar once launched.
Main Application Details Application Server Mobile Prior to launching the SafeDispatch Mobile App, you will need to install the Application Server Mobile on a remote PC; this program will come as an add-on to your SafeDispatch Application already installed on your PC. 3. SafeDispatch Mobile Below are quick steps to install the SafeDispatch Mobile App: 1. Copy the APK file to your Android based tablet s memory card and insert the card into your phone. 2. Click and install your APK files. Figure 4 IP& Port Settings
Main Application Details 3. You need to insert the IP and the port where the Application Server Mobile is installed. 4. Click OK. If you have inserted a wrong IP or you have no wireless connection, you will be prompted with the following error: Figure 5 TCP connection down SafeDispatch v4.0 dispatchers interact with the Application Server as well as the Gateways through UDP multicast. All the PC s in the system must be capable of using UDP multicast. An example of a basic SafeDispatch consists of 1 Application server, 1 Gateway (connected to 2 MOTOTRBO radios ->1 is used as a base station and one is used as a subscriber), with 1 dispatcher.
Main Application Details Figure 6 Communication diagram in a LAN Figure 7 Communication diagram in a LAN
Main Application Details Figure 8 Communication diagram via multicast VPN An example of data (GPS) transfer through the SafeDispatch System: 1. Subscriber radio acquires fixed GPS position and send it, through air waves, to the base station radio. Base station radio is the one attached to the PC. 2. Base station radio sends this message to the PC through the USB cable. 3. The Gateway App processes this message and sends it to the application server and all Dispatchers through the UDP multicast. 4a. Application server adds this message to the database for future history reports. 4b. Dispatcher applications show the location of the subscriber on the map.
Main How SafeDispatch Application Details Works Notes SafeDispatch System: The maximum number of MOTOTRBO base stations in a system is 16. Minimum System Requirements: Processor at 2000 MHz 2GB RAM Memory 2GB free Hard Disk Space Windows XP SP3 / Vista / 7 (only x86) 3 USB ports (one MOTOTRBO station, one for dongle and one for the headset) 2 sound cards (we recommend one internal sound card for MOTOTRBO station and one headset connected via USB) Notes SafeDispatch Mobile : Minimum Requirements: - Android OS 2.1 or above; - WiFi Internet connection, for loading maps and connecting to App Server Mobile - PC where SafeDispatch System is installed must have a static IP. - Google Maps API
