(These instructions are not written for Firefox, Safari or Chrome) BigHand can ONLY be installed on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 computers. BigHand is NOT supported on MAC or Linux computer. Please be sure to plug in the BigHand Speech Mike after the install process and before logging into Citrix each time. Remember to take your dictation handset with you when leaving the office and before returning to the office.
I. Create a New A&G Icon or Add to Favorites: OR II. 1. Delete the old Archer & Greiner Citrix icon on your desktop and/or from your favorites. 2. To Add the new Archer & Greiner Citrix Icon to the Desktop: a. Right Click on your desktop. b. Select New, Shortcut. c. Type the location of the item: http://remote.archerlaw.com d. Click Next e. Type in a name for this shortcut: Archer & Greiner f. Click Finish 3. Open up Internet Explorer and type : http://remote.archerlaw.com 4. Click Favorites and Add to Favorites Check Version of Citrix: 1. Click on Start -> Control Panel 2. Double-click on one of the following: Add-Remove Programs Icons depending on your computer s operating system type: a. Windows XP Icons: OR b. Vista / Windows 7 Icons: 3. Scroll through the list of currently installed applications. If you see Citrix online plug-in - web, you already have the latest Citrix Client installed you can skip to section IV. 2
III. Uninstall the Existing Citrix Client: 1. If do not see Citrix online plug-in - web or if you see one of the following older Citrix Client application in Add/Remove Programs, you will need to uninstall the current Citrix Client before installing the new version. Citrix XenApp Citrix Presentation Server MetaFrame Presentation Server 2. If you have both the Citrix online plug-in - web and one of the other Citrix applications, uninstall the Citrix online plug-in - web first, then restart the computer, then uninstall the other Citrix Client application, then restart the computer. 3. If the old Citrix Client uninstalled successfully continue with these instructions. If you have any problems uninstalling all Citrix Applications, STOP and contact the ISDept before continuing. 4. If you needed to uninstall any of these applications, restart your computer before continuing. IV. Install the Current Citrix Client: 1. Open the Archer & Greiner icon on your desktop OR open Internet Explorer and go to http://remote.archerlaw.com 2. The Archer & Greiner, Remote Access Portal screen will appear. Click on Citrix - Remote Desktop. 3. Type in your first initial and last name (User Name). 4. Type in your A&G password. 5. Click on the Log On button. 6. If you receive the following Upgrade Client Screen, STOP and go back to Section III of these notes and uninstall the existing Citrix Client. 7. If you receive the following Download Client Screen, place a check mark next to By selecting the checkbox, you confirm that you have read 8. Click on Download. 3
9. Click Run on the File Download - Security Warning message. 10. Click Run on the Internet Explorer - Security Warning message. 11. Click Ok on the Citrix Online-plug-in, Installation completed successfully message. 12. Click Yes on the Citrix online plug-in installation message to restart your computer. 13. If at any point you receive the following message to install an add-on, right-click on the message and select Run ActiveX Control. ****This message may not appear on all computers. A. Setting the Internet Explorer browser security settings: 1. Click on the Messages tab inside of the Citrix Web Interface. If you see the following warning message: Your current browser security setting may prevent you from you will need to do the following: a. Click on the add this Web site to the Trusted sites zone link to display the instructions that you need to complete. b. When this is done, there should be no more messages listed under the messages tab. 4
V. Uninstall the original BigHand Client (if already installed before 2/3/10): ***If you have never installed BigHand on your computer, this step can be skipped. 1. Click on Start -> Control Panel 2. Double-click on one of the: Add-Remove Programs. 3. Scroll through the list of currently installed applications. If you see BigHand ICA Client, you are running an older version of the BigHand client. Click the Remove button to uninstall it and then Restart your computer before installing the new version. VI. BigHand Citrix Client Add-On Install Instructions 1. Note: Do not attach the speech mike to your computer until after the install. (step 10) 2. Open the Archer & Greiner icon on your desktop OR open Internet Explorer and go to http://remote.archerlaw.com 3. Click on the BigHand Install icon located on the right. 4. Click Run on the File Download - Security Warning message. 5. Click Run on the Internet Explorer - Security Warning message. 6. Click Setup on the WinZip Self Extractor - BigHand message. This will start the install process which will include 2 separate applications. 7. Click Ok on the Terminal Client Plug In for BigHand completed successfully message. 8. Note: IF you received the following error messages at this point, go to Section VII. 9. Click Ok on the BigHand Digital Dictation Philips completed successfully message. 10. Plug the speech mike into the computer and wait about 30 seconds so the drivers can update. 11. Logon to Citrix and open BigHand Digital Dictation from the icon on the Citrix desktop to confirm everything is working properly. Note: The following 3 programs should now be listed under Add/Remove Programs: - BigHand Digital Dictation Philips Device Drivers - Citrix online plug-in - web - Terminal Client Plug In for BigHand Digital Dictation Client 3 This completes the Citrix and BigHand install. Section VII & VIII are not normally needed. 5
VII..Net Framework Install & Windows Update for Windows XP Computers: 1. If you received the following error message during the BigHand install process: 2. Go to Start -> Control Panel, and double-click on the Add-Remove Programs. 3. If you do NOT have Microsoft.Net Framework 3.0 or Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 installed, you will need to install the latest version of Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 using Windows Update : a. (Note: The following may not include all possible prompts or windows) b. Open Internet Explorer and select Tools -> Windows Updates. c. If prompted to install Windows Update select Install followed by Install Now. d. If on the Welcome to Windows Update page you see New! Get Microsoft Updates today! select the Go button next to those words. (i) Select Start Now on the Try Microsoft Update today page. (ii) Select Continue on the Review the license agreement page. (iii) Right-click on the ActiveX control: Microsoft Update and select Install ActiveX Control (iv) Select Install to the Security Warning to install Microsoft Update. (v) If Automatic Updates are set to OFF click on Turn it on now and then select Ok to the default scheduled time for Automatic Updates. (vi) Click on the Check for Updates button. e. Click on the Custom install button. f. If notified that Software Upgrade Required, select Download and Install Now followed by Close then Continue when the Installation is complete. g. If you are prompted to install XP Service Pack 3, select Download and Install Now. (i) This process will take a while and will require a restart to complete. (ii) After the restart, go back to Windows Update to continue this process. h. Select ALL updates under the High Priority section and any updates that have the words Microsoft.Net Framework in their name under the Software, Optional sections. i. Click on the Install Updates button, then Install Updates again and then accept the license information if prompted. j. Restart the computer when the updates complete. k. Run through the Microsoft Update process one more time to patch the patches. 4. After.Net Framework 3.5 has been installed successfully and Windows is fully updated: a. Uninstall the BigHand Digital Dictation Philips Device Drivers application first followed by an Uninstall of the Terminal Client Plug In for BigHand Digital Dictation Client 3 application. b. Restart the computer, then follow the steps in Section VI to re-install BigHand. 6
VIII. Notes and Troubleshooting: 1. If you receive the following message when launching the BigHand application on Citrix: a. Confirm that the Citrix online plug-in - web is listed in Add-Remove Programs and that no other Citrix applications are listed (see Sections: II, III, IV). b. Confirm that.net Framework 3.0 or greater is installed on XP computers and that BigHand has been uninstalled/reinstalled after installing this if needed (see Section VII). c. Confirm through Add-Remove Programs that you have both of the BigHand applications installed. (i) BigHand Digital Dictation Philips Device Drivers (ii) Terminal Client Plug In for BigHand Digital Dictation Client 3 d. Confirm that you attached the speech mike before you logged on to Citrix. 2. If you have any problems with the above installations on your computer, please send an e-mail to ISDepart@archerlaw.com.
