In particular the region has taken a pioneering position in wind power. Whether wind solar or biomass we at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences have addressed the importance of alternative energies by providing our students with four highly specialised study courses for the future: Energy and environmental management Power systems engineering Renewable energy engineering Wind engineering Apart from transferring theoretical knowledge based on the latest scientific research we place a great deal of value on our students gathering practical experience in field research and in their exchanges with industry. Condition monitoring grid management and studies on energy efficiency and storage are examples of our practical teaching orientation. We would like to introduce our courses in the following:
For sustainable economically viable development Energy and Environmental Management OBJECTIVE OF STUDY COURSE: We provide a classical engineering management course with special training in energy and environment to prepare our students for a career in an international multidisciplinary setting. The degree qualifies students for a post-grad master s degree course. SYLLABUS: Apart from mathematical technical and scientific knowledge the course includes Engineering as well as Business Studies and Economics. The course places particular focus on theories and processes in energy and environmental engineering. In addition the course includes specialist terminology and management skills training. We ensure the course s orientation to real-life application with a major part of the course spent in the lab and a clear focus on practical study content in the course. A semester abroad helps our students gather language and cultural skills. FUTURE FIELD OF WORK: Areas of deployment are varied with opportunities in both the private and the open sector. Typical employers include plant construction companies power and utilities suppliers engineering firms business consultancies and also the financial field. Activities range from project and general management to consulting to cross-sectional research. Requirements for admission: Allgemeine (Fach-) Hochschulreife (general matriculation grade for universities or universities of applied sciences) or equivalent Duration: Seven semesters including semester abroad internship and bachelor s dissertation Qualification on graduation: Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Seeing it all in the big picture Electrical Energy Systems Engineering Working on the future with new technology Renewable Energy Technology OBJECTIVE OF STUDY COURSE: After graduation students will have the thorough knowledge of engineering and scientific issues to be able to take responsibility for tomorrow s society in their roles as representatives of their field. SYLLABUS: After gaining fundamental knowledge in electrical engineering mathematics and physics students will be able to select a specialisation for more in-depth study from the sixth semester onwards. Options include control and instrumentation engineering model construction and simulation of complex installations also referring to renewable energy systems such as wind turbine generators and solar power installations small power plants and biomass utilisation. The course takes a highly practical approach throughout with work on test stations. FUTURE FIELD OF WORK: The field of activity is highly varied in view of the essential nature of energy in everyday life whether in industry or for private consumption. Potential employers include planning firms and software suppliers power supply companies automation companies and manufacturers and their suppliers. Requirements for admission: Allgemeine (Fach-) Hochschulreife (general matriculation grade for universities or universities of applied sciences) or equivalent Duration: Seven semesters including internship and bachelor s dissertation OBJECTIVE OF STUDY COURSE: The knowledge gained will allow graduates to play an active part in shaping the future with an economically viable safe and climate-friendly energy supply and will be specifically prepared for the demands of industrial companies. SYLLABUS: After three semesters in basic studies focussed on mechanical and electrical engineering the course will concentrate on the engineering background for the use of renewable energies wind and solar power as well as geothermal and biomasses. Conventional energy engineering as well as energy efficiency and application engineering are also covered in the course. In addition students may qualify for machine and plant engineering or system and grid integration with energy from renewable sources. FUTURE FIELD OF WORK: A wide variety of career opportunities in engineering awaits graduates. Whether in industry energy supply engineering planning companies or in consultancies the job prospects are highly favourable due to the growth in this market. Requirements for admission: Allgemeine (Fach-) Hochschulreife (general matriculation grade for universities or universities of applied sciences) or equivalent Duration: Seven semesters including internship and bachelor s dissertation Qualification on graduation: Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) Qualification on graduation: Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) Post-grad opportunities: Master s study course in System Engineering or Wind Engineering at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences ELECTRICAL ENERGY SYSTEMS ENGINEERING RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY
Bringing fresh wind into your career Wind Engineering A powerful network for progress Research development technology transfer and further education OBJECTIVE OF STUDY COURSE: Oriented towards business requirements our students are trained beyond their specialisation to think in terms of general system orientation gaining knowledge that includes both older types of system and installation and state-of-the-art technology.
