University of Denver Hilltoppers (TOPS) TOPS COLORADO OPEN Friday January 27-Sunday January 29, 2017 SANCTION: This is a Colorado Swimming event, hosted by Univ of Denver Hilltoppers. Held under the sanction of USA Swimming Sanction # 2017-021. The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming. LOCATION: University of Denver, El Pomar Natatorium, 2201 E. Asbury, Denver, CO 80208 Elevation 5342' PARKING: From I-25: take University exit south from the highway and make your first turn east onto Buchtel Blvd. Parking will be available on the north side of Buchtel Blvd. Parking lot is named 108. Map and Permit will be distributed to participating teams. POOL: 50 meters (8 lanes) by 25 yard (17 lanes), with non-turbulent markers. Colorado Timing systems. Dependent upon number of entrants, the meet may be run 1) in one 10 lane, 25 yard course, with depth ranging from 7-13 ft at start end, and 7 ft depth at turn end or 2) 2 Courses=Course A=8 lane, 25 yard, with depth ranging from 7-13 ft at start end, and 7 ft depth at turn end Course B=5/6 lane 25 yard, with depth ranging from 5-6 ft at start end, and 5-6 ft depth at turn end 3) Continuous warm-up/down lanes will be available in all circumstances. RULES: 1. Current USA Swimming and CSI rules shall govern the conduct of the meet. 2. Entry Times must have been performed since Jan 1, 2016. 3. Age of swimmer is determined as of January 27, 2017. Swimmers are limited to four (4) individual events per day plus relays. 4. The meet will be pre-seeded except for events 9-12, 47-48, 57-60, 93-94 and 105-108, which will require a positive check-in. Failure to check-in for an event may result in not being allowed to swim the event events will not be re-seeded to accommodate swimmers who fail to check in. 5. Events 9-12: 12 & Under 500 Free and Open 1650 Free, will be swum fastest to slowest alternating girls and boys. We reserve the right to limit both events to the fastest 28, 30, 40 or 42 girls and boys, regardless of age depending on the course used to run the meet. 6. Swimmers must provide their own timers and counters for the 400 IM, 500 Free and 1650 Free events. 7. TOPS swimmers will be exempt from qualification times. 8. All events are timed finals. The meet referee will be the final authority for conduct of the meet. 9. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms. Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is not appropriate and is prohibited. 10. All team photographers must check-in with Meet Referee prior to taking any photographs. No photography from behind the starting platforms. No unaffiliated photographers allowed. 11. Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present. 12. Unattached swimmers - Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Unattached swimmers must be assigned to a coach from another team to act in their interest. Assigned coach shall be responsible for supervision of warm-up/warm-down, and all other responsibilities of the swimmer. See Meet Referee if an athlete needs to be assigned to a coach.
ELIGIBILTY: USA member athletes holding a 2017 current registration. Swimmers within the 120 day transfer period must swim unattached. Age as of the first day of competition will determine a swimmer s age group. If a swimmer attends the meet without his/her coach, the athlete must notify the meet referee immediately upon arrival at the meet. No deck registrations will be allowed. ENTRY FEES: Individual event fee is $4.00 each and relays are $5.00/relay. There is a $10.00 surcharge per swimmer. All fees must accompany entries and are non-refundable. Make checks payable to the University of Denver ($.75 of each entry fee goes to CSI Inc.) LATE ENTRIES: Individual events will be $5.00, and will be accepted only at meet director s discretion. Events will not be re-seeded. ENTRIES: The Hy-tek event template complete with qualifying times will be available on Colorado Swimming s website: www.coloradoswimming.org. The meet will be limited in swimmers to adhere to the 4 hour rule. Entries will be accepted in the order they are received (See below). However, in the event that the meet timelines reach maximum capacity, no team will be split, unless they express that desire. All individual entries must meet qualification times. A. Electronic File sent via e-mail is the entry method of preference. Please include a 1) Team Unify.sd3 file or Hy-Tek zipped.cl2 file, and 2) a print out of entries in your email. Hard copies and entry check should be mailed separately. A confirmation e-mail will be delivered once you have been entered into the meet. B. EXCEPTION: 12 & Under Relays will be split into 10 & Unders and 11-12. Individual: Medals for 1 st -3 rd, and ribbons for 4 th 8 th in each event in the 8 & under, 10& under and 11-12 boys and girls divisions. No individual awards for Open age group. Relays: awards for 1 st 3 rd in the 8 & under, 12 & under boys and girls divisions. Relay Awards will be split out by age group for events 15-16, 63-64. Both 10 & Under and 12 & Under will be awarded separately. RESTRICTIONS: Smoking or the use of other tobacco products is prohibited on DU campus. SPECTATOR SEATING: The pool bleachers are a viewing area only. There will be specific areas designated for permanent seating in the adjacent concourse, and/or adjacent gymnasium. WARM UP PROCEDURES: Warm up will be conducted in accordance with Colorado Swimming Inc. established procedures. The warm-up session may be divided into assigned periods or may be an open/specific warm-up. Please use a 3 point entry to enter the pool in warm-up areas.
