SHAH MEDICAL COLLEGE, SURENDRANAGAR FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-16 IN NRI QUOTA 1. GENERAL INFORMATION: C. U. Shah Medical College is an integral part of CONSORTIUM OF SELF FINANCED MEDICAL COLLEGES OF GUJARAT with the acronym CONSEFMCG with effect from 24-4-2015., along with Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad. The general information and rules related to NRI quota admissions 2015, framed and given on the webpage www.cusmc.org/consortium/consefmcg.php will be applicable to all member Institutions of CONSEFMCG. Further, information, rules and regulations applicable to C. U. Shah Medical College, Surendranagar are as under: 1.1 In MBBS course, 15% of the seats will be filled in by the category of N. R. I students (NRI quota) who satisfy the eligibility criteria as per Medical Council of India, Hon. Supreme Court of India and/or Government of Gujarat. ( If the candidate is NRI sponsored, the sponsor should be completely responsible for the education of the candidate in the course of MBBS and the parent/guardian of the student should convince the Institution that the said sponsor has been supporting the education of the student in the past also. ) 1.2 The Institution is affiliated to SAURASHTRA UNIVERSITY, Kalavad Road, Rajkot. For all academic matters, the rules and ordinances of the university will apply, in toto, to the affiliated courses run by the Institution. This includes the requirement of minimum 75% attendance and 35% marks in internal examinations to be eligible to appear in University examinations. Page2 1.3 The total duration of M.B;B.S course will be 4 ½ years, divided in three phases as under: Phase Professional Duration Semester Subjects of study I 1 st M.B;B.S 1 year 1 & 2 Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry & Community Medicine II 2 nd M.B;B.S 1 ½ years 3, 4 & 5 Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine & clinics (Clinical subjects) III 3 rd M.B;B.S Part-I 3 rd M.B;B.S Part-II 1 year 6 & 7 Ophthalmology, Oto-rhino-laryngology, Community Medicine, Other clinical subjects & Clinics 1 year 8 & 9 Medicine & allied subjects, Surgery and allied subjects, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics ------- TOTAL 4 ½ years 9 semesters Followed by 1 year internship
1.4 There will be a rotating internship of one year following successful completion of the course. The degree of M.B; B.S. will be awarded by Saurashtra University on satisfactory completion of the internship. 1.5 Students will not be permitted to take up any employment or carry out any private business during the entire period of their student-ship. 2. ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION: 2.1 Candidates seeking admission in NRI / NRI sponsored quota should have passed the qualifying examination from Gujarat or equivalent examination from elsewhere. The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50 % marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. The relevant MCI, Government of Gujarat and Admission Committee rules will apply. 2.2 The candidate should have completed 17 years of age by 31 st December of the year of admission. 2.3 Those applying for admission in NRI quota with qualifying examination from Boards other than Gujarat Secondary Education Board, should obtain and submit the certificate of equivalence from competent authority at the time of application, ascertaining that the qualifying examination passed by him/her is equivalent to HSC of Gujarat Board. Such candidates also should obtain eligibility certificate from Saurashtra University within the stipulated date. 2.4 Incomplete applications and applications received after the stipulated last date will be summarily rejected without any further communication. 3. PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION: 3.1 Every application for admission should be filled in, only in the prescribed form downloaded from the webpage of CONSEFMCG as well as websites on individual member institutions. 3.2 The application duly filled in by the candidate (in own hand-writing in block letter in blue/black ink) should be accompanied by the prescribed processing fee (Form fee Rs 2000/- + Processing fee = Rs 15000/- per choice of college ) to be paid by cash / DD in favour of C.U. SHAH MEDICAL COLLEGE (CONSEFMCG) payable at Surendranagar and clear photo-copies of supporting documents as under (non-returnable) and 5 recent passport-size colour photographs. Applications received after the last date will not be entertained. 4. COUNSELING FOR ADMISSION & PROCESS OF ADMISSION: 4.1 The date, time and venue of counseling/s, if any, would be published on the Notice Board of the Institutions as well as the website: www.cusmc.org., www.charutarhealth.org and webpage www.cusmc.org/consortium/consefmcg.php. The counseling will be through single window system involving all institutions filling in NRI Quota in Gujarat. 4.2 Call letters for counseling will be sent by CONSEFMCG to concerned candidates. Even if the candidates do not receive the call letter due to any reason, they will have to appear for the counseling on the basis of announcement on the Notice Board and websites and CONSEFMCG will not be responsible for the non-receipt of call letters and absence of candidates on the day of counseling due to above reason. 4.3 At the time of counseling, the candidate is required to produce all the relevant documents in original along with 2 sets of Photostat copies. A candidate procuring admission will have to submit all the original documents to the Institution which will be retained till he/she completes the course or leave the course with prior permission and approval. If a candidate fails to submit any of the relevant documents, he/she may forfeit his/her claim for admission. Admission is subject to verification and approval of the original documents submitted by the candidate/s. Page4 4.4 The admission of the candidates who have passed qualifying examination from boards other than Gujarat Higher Secondary Board, will be subject to submission of provisional eligibility certificate from concerned University, with in the mutually stipulated and agreed upon date and if a candidate fails to submit the same, his/her admission may be cancelled and the seat may be offered to candidate/s from the waiting list.
4.5 The candidate will have to pay the advance component of fees as decided and announced by CONSEFMCG at the time of counseling and give an undertaking to pay the balance amount payable within a mutually agreed upon date. If he/she fails to remit the fees as above and/or fail to submit requisite original and other requisite documents within the mutually agreed upon period, the process would be considered as incomplete, his/her claim for admission will be cancelled and the advance component of fees forfeited. 4.6 If a candidate leaves the course at his/her own request after completing the requisite formalities as above and pays up the semester fees, before 15 days of the prescribed date of completion of admission proceedings in the current year, his/her admission would be cancelled and only Rs 1000/- will be deducted towards processing charges. 4.7 But, if the candidate leaves the course within 15 days of the prescribed date of completion of admission proceedings in the current year, the whole amount of fees paid by the candidate less Rs 25000/- towards processing charges. But, if the seats remains vacant, the candidate is liable to pay the whole COURSE FEES as a precious seat will be wasted. 4.8 If the student abandons the course due to any reason, after the prescribed date of completion of admission proceedings in the current year or he/she leaves the course in between the tenure of the course, he/she is liable to pay the whole course fees of 9 semesters, and till the dues are cleared the original documents may be retained by the Institution. 4.9 The Annual tuition fees for NRI candidates seeking admission to MBBS course in the current year is equivalent to Rs 16 lakhs (Rs sixteen lakhs only) in corresponding foreign currency. 4.10 The other fees/deposits applicable to college as well as hostels, as decided by management will be announced during the process of admission. In case of failures during the course, fees will be collected as per number of subjects failed in and extension of semester/s. 4.11 Boarding in hostel mess is compulsory for a student opting to stay in hostels in the campus and mess fees will have to be remitted in advance along with hostel charges as prescribed by the management and all rules in this regards will be applicable to hostel inmates. Admission to the Institute does not guarantee hostel admission. 4.12 All types of semester-wise fees (including hostel & mess fees where applicable) are required to be paid strictly by 1 st of July and 1 st of January every year. These dates will have to be adhered to under any circumstances and non-remittance in time will attract penalty clauses as decided by college authorities, from time to time. 4.13 Any legal dispute arising out of the admission procedure of I MBBS course in NRI quota at C. OPD & Indoor It has an average daily OPD of more than 1500 patients and about 80% Occupancy rate on an average in the indoor facilities. The casualty (fully equipped and with 20 beds) runs round the clock. All the records (OPD,Indoor, Laboratory) are computerized and on - line It has all basic diagnostic facilities like Pathology, Microbiology & Facilities Biochemical investigative facilities, basic Radiodiagnostic facilties and also advanced techniques like CAT scan, MRI, Digital X- ray, Cardiac dopplers, TMT, Pulse oximeters etc. It runs 10 fully functional operation theatres. Online Oxygen, Nitrous oxide and suction facilities are provided along with Standby facilities like Oxygen cylinders and suction machines. All ICU/ICCU are fully equipped with central monitoring stations and necessary diagnostic & therapeutic equipments like pulse oximeter, online oxygen. Suction, ventilator, defibrillators etc It runs a pharmacy of its own which caters to OPD as well as indoor patients. CSSD and also sterilization facilities attached to OTs are available. A central laundry, kitchen and other corollary services are available. There are 5 fully equipped ambulances for round the clock services.
