1 Eligibility Criteria to Enrol for Undergraduate & Masters Degree Programmes B.E./B.Tech. Degree (Four years): of Indian System or its equivalent 12 years of school education. Must have studied in English medium and should have obtained a pass in the qualifying examination with Good Grades in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics B.Arch Degree (Five Years): In addition to the above qualification, the candidates must have passed the National Aptitude Test conducted by the Council of Architecture, India ( M.E./M.Tech.Degree (Two Years): Should posses first class B.E. / B.Tech. degree Programme or First class MCA degree ( ) or First class M.Sc 5 -year Integrated in (Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering). Admission of Students Under Foreign Nationals (FN) Non- Resident Indians (NRI) /Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CIWGC) Categories DOCUMENTS to be SUBMITTED Non - Resident Indians ( NRI ) / Children of Indian workers in Gulf countries (CIWGC) Categories

2 Photo copies of the following documents are to be attached along with the application, for both the categories. 1. Recent NRI status certificate of the financial supporter issued by the Indian Embassy of the respective country. 2. Employment Certificate of the sponsor. In the case of selfemployment, nature of business, annual income and required proof like Income- Tax paid (for the last 3 years), etc. 3. NRE/NRI Bank Account pass Book of the Financial supporter. 4. Valid Indian Passport of the NRI Financial supporter. 5. Qualifying Mark / Grade list of the candidate; 6. Certificate showing that the candidate has undergone the qualifying school education in English medium or TC showing the medium of instruction is English. 7. School Transfer Certificate or Migration Certificate. 8. Passport copy of the NRI students. Note: The NRI financially supporting the candidate should either be the parent (Father or Mother) of the candidate or legally declared as guardian of the candidate by the Court as per provisions in The Guardians and Wards Act, FOREIGN NATIONALS CATEGORY 1. Proof of Citizenship of the candidate. 2. Passport of the candidate. 3. Qualifying mark list of the candidate. If the grades are produced, certificate showing equivalent marks to grades. 4. Certificate showing that the candidate has undergone the respective course in English medium. 5. Proof of Financial support. 6. Valid Visa / PIO / OCI Card.

3 GENERAL INFORMATION Reporting to the University: Normally, the academic session begins by July August every year. Candidates selected for admission are required to report to the Deans of the campus concerned on the scheduled date mentioned in the allotment order. If the candidate fails to do so, the offer of admission will automatically stand cancelled. Hostel Accommodations: Limited Hostel accommodation is available inside the campus. Interested candidates may apply to the Dean of the campus for Hostel admission. They have to pay the prescribed fee as per Hostel Rules. There is no separate Hostel for N.R.I. students. The Hostel Mess is run on dividing system. Other Fee: Fees applicable for Library, examination, Students Cooperative Society, Identity card (Smart card), etc should be paid in Indian rupees at the time of admission or when required to pay as per the rules. 4 Brief description of the educational system W U.G. Courses: All B.E and B.Tech. programmes are of 4 -year duration. W Each year is divided into two semesters. W Each semester students undergo six theory courses and four practical courses. W Theory courses have three internal assessment tests and a final examination. W Practical subjects also have internal tests and a final examination. W All the examinations are of closed book type. W Practical tests also include Viva-Voce examinations. W The masters degrees (PG) M.E and M.Tech are two- year programmes divided into four semesters. W The first two semesters have six theory courses and one or two practical courses. W The third semester has three theory courses including electives and phase I of project work. W The fourth semester is for phase II of the project when the student conducts experiments/research and prepares a thesis. W The theory courses have three internal assessment tests and a final examination. W The practical subjects have internal and final examinations. W All the examinations are of closed book type. W Practical tests also include Viva-Voce Examinations Description of credit and grading system of Anna University Chennai Credit system is followed for UG and masters degree courses A theory course of 45 hours duration - 3 credits. A theory

5 course of 45 hours with additional 15 hours of laboratory classes or tutorial classes 4 credits A practical course of 45 hours of laboratory classes 2 credits and 30 hours of laboratory classes 1 credit. UG project work in the final semester of 180 hours 6 credits, A student has to obtain about 200 credits to complete the UG Programme. Masters degree project work is divided into two phases: Phase-I in III semester 180 hours 6 credits Phase-II in IV semester 360 hours 12 credits A masters student should obtain about 67 credits to complete his course. A five-year integrated course has about 219 credits to complete the course. Working of the grading system The following Letter grades and corresponding Grade Points are awarded S-10, A-9,B-8,C-7,D-6,E-5,U-O,I-0,W-0 S is the highest and E is the lowest U for fail W for withdrawal from course I for prevention cases (shortage of attendance, which is attendance less than 75%). Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and Grade Point Average (GPA) are calculated (exempting U,I and W grades) by Sum of [Credits X Grade Points]/ Sum of Credits. Language of instruction English is the medium of instruction for all Undergraduate, Masters degree and PhD programmes.
