St. Gilgen International School is a co-educational boarding and day school for students aged 9 to 18, currently with circa 170 students. Nurse Room - Medical Center The Medical Center is housed on the school campus which consists of two main rooms: the office where the nurse sees and examines the students and where all medical supplies are kept, and a sick room with a bed and an attached bathroom where unwell students can stay and get the necessary treatment. The medical team currently consists of two qualified Austrian Nurses (Diplom für Allgemeine Gesundheits- und Krankenpflege). School Nurse at StGIS The nurses and all boarding staff work together as a team to provide a professional nursing service of the highest quality in a caring, supportive and confidential atmosphere. The nurses support health promotion, providing knowledge and guidance, to ensure a healthy school community, influencing physical, social and mental wellbeing. The following provides an overview of the wide field of duties: Using clinical knowledge and judgment, to provide health care to all students and staff; Close collaboration with the boarding teams; Referral to the school doctor or other healthcare providers; Escort Students to doctor s appointments/hospital; Communication with parents, teachers, hospitals; Administrative duties; Keeping track of health- and wellbeing of the students; Management of students with chronic conditions such as asthma, anaphylaxis, etc. Preparation of medical information and first aid equipment for trip leaders A student s ability to learn is directly related to his or her health status. Children with unmet health needs have a difficult time engaging in the educational process. The school nurse supports student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school setting. The school nurse addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students and supports their achievement in the learning process. The school nurse not only provides for the safety and care of students and staff but also addresses the need for integrating health solutions into the education setting (National Association of School Nurses)

School Nurse: Application Process The appointment is for January 2016 and the contract will be temporary to cover maternity leave. The salary will be from Euro 11.384,00 depending on qualifications and experience (part time 20 hours/week, not required to work during the school holidays).
