2014-2015 FOOD ALLERGEN LIST The information on this list is taken from the most up to date nutrition labels that have been provided to the Food Service Office. Please be aware that products may be reformulated during the school year and new product information is typically not provided to our office. There are also occurrences throughout the school year when our food distributor will make substitutions for ordered foods that may be out of stock. The Food Service Office is made aware of these substitutions the majority of the time, but not every time. When we are made aware of these substitutions, it is typically at the last minute, and does no allow a feasible amount of time to send out allergen updates. The Food Service Office does not contact the manufacturer for each product to identify if any item or ingredient is processed around nuts or other allergens. The Food Service Office does not monitor foods brought from home, such as peanut butter. The best management of students with food allergies will take teamwork between the parent or guardian, student, school nurse, and the Food Service Office. Parents and students should never rely solely on a cafeteria staff member to monitor a student s meal selection as a way to protect students from selecting foods that contain allergens.
