Sat 28th May: Depart school for coach journey to Dover. Ferry crossing to Calais and onward journey overnight to Spain. Sun 29th May: Afternoon arrival in resort of Lloret de Mar. Check into your accommodation and free time at leisure to enjoy the beach or swimming pool at the hotel. Your first meal is evening dinner. Mon 30th May: Professional coaching clinic with SportsSchool coaches. Tournament matches with other British schools. Dinner. Evening at leisure possible bowling and mini-golf in the resort. Tues 31st May: Professional coaching clinic with SportsSchool coaches. Tournament matches with other British schools. Dinner. Private evening disco and presentation ceremony at local venue.
Wed 1st June: Excursion to Barcelona. Visit to Nou Camp stadium and sightseeing time in the city. Evening dinner at the hotel. Thu 2nd June: Check out of hotel. Water World water park visit. Start coach journey home and travel through the night. Fri 3rd June: Morning ferry crossing and onward journey back to school.
Passport All students are required to have their own individual passport. It must be it date and not due to expire prior to our return. Miss Jones will collect students passports 2 weeks prior to the trip, these will be kept in the school and hotel safe, students will only be given their passports on return to Dover where they will be checked by security.
EHIC - European Health Insurance Card The EHIC is free of charge and you can apply or renew a card via the official EHIC online application form. Please beware that some sites charge for them, don't pay
Medication Each student will need to complete a medical consent form prior to travelling. All medication is to be handed to Miss Jones prior to the trip clearly labelled with students name and in original packaging. It will be handed out to the relevant students each day and readily available on request if required. Asthma sufferers are advised to take two inhalers.
Money We recommend that students take between 100-200 Euros, this is only required to cover the cost of lunchtime meals and any souvenirs they wish to purchase. Each member of staff will be allocated a group of students, during set times during the day the bank will be open for students to collect money from their relevant member of staff. If there are any issues surrounding spending then there will be emergency funding available.
Mobile Phones Your phone and other electronic devices are your responsibility. Consider the cost of equipment and which activities it is suitable to bring them on. Remember the cost of calls and texts is much higher in Europe, consider apps such as whatsapp or viber which allow free communication with home. Electronic devises ARE NOT covered by the insurance policy
Payment Schedule Deposit: 50 (29 th of June 2015) Second Payment: 75 (17 th July 2015) Third Payment: 50 (7 th September 2015) Fourth Payment: 50 (5 th October 2015) Fifth Payment: 50 (2 nd November 2015) Sixth Payment: 50 (4 th December 2015) Seventh Payment: 25 (15 th January 2016) Eighth Payment: 50 (8 th February 2016) Ninth Payment: 50 (18 th March 2016) Payments can be made prior to the dates via wisepay or cheque. If more than one payment date is missed without reason then first reserve will be offered the space. Money will only be refunded if another student can take the place.
Selection Criteria More than 40 students expressed an interest, therefore if more than 40 have paid their deposit by 3pm Monday selection criteria will be used. -Commitment to curricular and extra curricular Physical Education. -Attendance record. -Behaviour record. We are expecting to have more than 40 students who pass the relevant criteria and we would like to take on the trip. In this case places would be decided by a ballot. Those not selected will have the opportunity to be on a reserve list in case other students are unable to attend.
Expectations/Behaviour Contract One of the main aims of the trip is to promote independence and allow students the opportunity to learn about and enjoy local cultures. However in order to ensure the safely and wellbeing of all travellers students and parents will need to sign a behaviour contract to outline the conduct expected
Foster positive relationships with all group members to create a respectful and supporting team atmosphere Day to Day Be punctual and fully participate in activities Respect all decisions made by staff and officials Avoid behaviour which may offend or inconvenience others Behaviour Contract Do not leave group sessions or activities without permission Behave at all times in a manner which reflects positively on themselves, the group and the school Mobile Phones Are not to be used to record or capture images of staff members without permission Alcohol/Drugs Under no circumstance are students to purchase or consume prior to or during trip
Consequences Verbal warning/phone call to parents Banned from excursions or training/playing football Official warnings Serious misconduct-staff member flies from UK, takes student back from Spain. Parents would be liable for all costs involved.
