AAU Mardi Gras Baton Twirling Extravaganza 2009 LOCATION: Northshore Harbor Center, 100 Harbor Center Blvd., Slidell LA 70461 DATES: Saturday, February 14 Competition 8:00am 10:00am (All Team, Freestyle, and Parade Break 10:00am 5:30pm Solo Dance Twirl) Competition 5:30pm 7:30pm Sunday, February 15 Competition 8:30am End (All Solo, Duet, and Trio) PARADE INFO: Come be a part of this exciting new event in the heart of the Big Easy! All participants will march in the family-friendly 24th Annual Krewe of Dionysus Parade on February 14, 2009 at 1:00 pm. This parade caters to families and the greater New Orleans community. Bus transportation will be available from the competition venue to/from the parade. It is asked that each competitor contribute a donation of any new/used equipment, such as shoes, costumes, batons/twirling equipment, etc. A collection box will be located at the entrance of the facility. These donations will be used to assist New Orleans in re-establishing youth activities. Athletes in this level may not perform more than a two-turn around and no high toss illusions ***Athletes that are Novice, Beginner or Intermediate in Solo one baton and have not received more than five first place Beginner team wins are considered Beginner team athletes. Eighty-five percent of a beginner

team must not have reached the advanced level in Solo one baton. Athletes that are Advanced in Solo one baton or have received five first place Beginner team wins are considered Advanced team athletes. ENTRY FEE: SOLO EVENTS GROUP EVENTS 1st Event $18.00 Duets, Trios, Teams & Corps Each Additional Solo Event $15.00 $10.00 per athlete per event Freestyle and Solo Dance Twirl $18.00 Collegiate Solo $40.00 TITLE EVENTS AAU Mardi Gras Baton Twirling Extravaganza 2009 Strut Champion $25.00 -Athlete will perform both Basic and Military. Basic determines level. AAU Mardi Gras Baton Twirling Extravaganza 2009 Grand Champion $40.00 -Athlete will perform both Solo and Strut (x, straight line, freestyle, etc). Solo determines level. REGISTRATION AND ENTRY DEADLINE: All registration materials must be received no later than Friday, January 9, 2009. All entry fees must be in the form of either a cashier's check or money order made payable to AAU Baton. No personal checks will be accepted. Please do not send cash. All fees are non-refundable. The AAU Mardi Gras Baton Twirling Extravaganza 2009 Strut Champion will receive large trophy and spectacular sash. The AAU Mardi Gras Baton Twirling Extravaganza 2009 Grand Champion will receive large trophy, spectacular sash, and custom grand champion event jacket. Second through sixth place of each title event will receive trophies. Collegiate Solo division will receive a large trophy, event sash and custom event jacket. High point Team and Corp from the overall competition will receive a beautiful large trophy. Team awards will consist of an individual medal per team member through fifth place. EVENT T-SHIRTS: Pre-order your special event T-shirt (Mardi Gras colors and theme). All athlete names and teams will be printed on the back. Cost is $20.00 per shirt and they will be available for pick-up at the event. AGE DETERMINATION: Determined by the athlete s age on the first day of competition, February 14, 2009. AAU MEMBERSHIP: MUSIC CHECK-IN: RULES: HOUSING: All athletes and coaches must be members of their AAU District and be able to present their 2009 AAU membership card at check-in. PARKING: TRANSPORTATION: SECURITY: FOOD: Parking is complimentary at the Northshore Harbor Center. All participants and spectators are responsible for their own transportation to and from the competition. Special bus transportation will be available to and from the Parade on Saturday at the cost of $15.00 per person. Bus transportation must be arranged in advance at the time of entry. See entry form. Both competitors and spectators may ride the bus. Please include payment for spectators wishing to ride the bus at the time of entry as well. No on-site additions will be accepted. The facility maintains the right to search any bags, backpacks, purses, jackets, etc. throughout the duration of the event. The facility maintains exclusive rights to concessions. Outside food and beverage are not permitted throughout the duration of the event.

ADMISSION FEE: NO GUARANTEE: A daily fee may be charged for spectators during the event. The AAU can not and does not guarantee the appearance and/or participation of specific participant(s) and/or teams (as applicable) in this event. The AAU has sanctioned (approved) this Event as an official AAU Event (competition), but the AAU is not and shall not be responsible for any participant's or spectator's expenses related to this Event (nor reimbursements for same) in case of dissatisfaction of any participant, friend, family, or spectator, this includes, but is not limited to all travel, lodging, food, entry fees and/or any other expenses related to the event.
