Thank you for purchasing your new 38TSD phone HCD9888(38)TSD telephone is FSK/DTMF caller ID telephone system, you need to apply the Caller ID business in your local Telecom. Please read this Guide before using, and keep it handy for future reference. This package contain the following (38)TSD base unit one Handset one Coiled handset cord.. one 2-Conductors Straight line cord one User Guide..one Main Feature 1. CallWaiting decode function (HCD9888(38)TSD-CW only) 2. Memory for incoming calls up to116 groups 3. Memory for outgoing calls 16 groups. 4.6-digit local area code and 6-digit long distance code setting. 5. Pre-dial, amendment and calling back function. 6. Hot Line function 7. Current date, time & week display. 8.12 groups indirect memories. 9. FLASH time programmable, flash time is 600ms. 10. Pause function 11. Dial automatically if meet busy tone. Ringing if connect. 12. LCD contrast 5 level adjustable, Factory default is 3 levels. 13. Speaker feature 14. Handset and SPKR volume 3-step control 15. Ringing and MWL indicator. 2

Preparation and description before using (1) Installation Insert one end of the coiled cord into the small jack on the side of the base unit. Insert the other end into the jack on the handset. Insert the CO line cord from the wall jack to the line jack on the base unit. Now your 38CID is ready for use. (2) Data port Provides access to the telephone line for connection of other devices like computer, fax machine, answer machine and extension, etc. 3) Ringer volume control Using this button on the top of unit base to adjusts ringer volume to HI/LOW/OFF 4) LCD With 4 lines display on the LCD, the first line display Week, the second line display date, time, the third line display Store, Pre-dial, dial out number and 3

in-coming number, year; the last line display name, working mode and in-coming call group. How to use Location of controls UP DEL DOWN OUT HOLD/ARD REC PAUSE VOL IN USE FLASH REDIAL SPKR ⑷LCD ⑸ SET/STORE Key ⑹UP/DOWN Key ⑺ OUT Key ⑻ DEL Key ⑼PAUSE Key ⑽VOL Key ⑾SPKR Key ⑿MWL Key ⒀ REDIAL ⒁FLASH Key ⒂ IN-USE Key ⒃ HOLD /ARD Key ⒄ REC Key ⒅Sticker for host number ⒆Wall mount clip NOTE : Message Waiting Light flashing when new ringing and new message come. In-use Indicator goes into working mode when press speaker or lift handset. 4

Ⅰ Program Setting Press SET/STORE key enter into the program setting mode, LCD display VIEW MENU ; then use UP / DOWN key to change the setting items and LCD display the setting, then press SET/STORE key into the setting item. After finish the current setting, press SET/STORE again enter into the next setting item. All setting use UP/DOWN key to change or modify the setting, use DEL key return to previous item. During setting mode, over 8 seconds no any operation will quite setting mode. Details setting items as below: 1.1 Setting Language After enter into the setting mode, LCD display SELECT LANGUAGE, Factory default: English. 1. Press SET/STORE to select LANGUAG, LCD display English, the factory default mode. Press UP/DOWN key to choose the desired language, there are seven kind languages FRANCAIS, ESPANOL, ITALIANO, DEUTSCH, TURKISH, DANMARK. Press SET/ STORE key to confirm,then enter into the next step. 1.2 Setting Area Code 1.LCD display SET AREA CODE 2. Press SET/STORE, the first ---- flashing,, press UP/DOWN key to Set 0---9, press SET/STORE to set the next digit, total 6 digits. The setting doesn t work if setting not from the first digit. 3. Then press SET/STORE into next step. 1.3 Setting Long Distance Call Code 1. LCD display LONG DIST ACCESS 2. Press SET/STORE, the first ---- flashing, press UP/DOWN key to adjust, press SET/STORE again to confirm, then enter into the next digit, total 6 5

digits. The setting doesn t work if setting not from the first digit. 3. Then press SET/STORE into next step. 1.4 Setting date and time 1. LCD display DATE /TIME 2. Press SET/STORE, the year flashing, press UP/DOWN key to adjust, then press SET/STORE to confirm, then enter into Hour, Minute, Day, Month Setting. The Week Setting is automatically. 3. Then press SET/STORE into next step. 1.5 Setting LCD contrast 1. LCD display CONTRAST ADJUST 2. Press SET/STORE, LCD display the current level, then press [UP] or [ DOWN] to adjust the desired level, total 5 levels for select, the factory default is : 3. 3. Press SET/STORE to confirm the setting then press again into the next step. 1.6 Setting HOT LINE 1. LCD display HOT LINE 2. Press SET/STORE, LCD display the current mode ( the current mode is OFF ), then press [UP] or [DOWN] to adjust the desired mode. 3. If select HOT LINE ON, LCD display HOT LINE NUMBER, it s the time to input Hot Line phone numbers. 4. Press SET/STORE to confirm the setting and enter into the next step. 1.7 Setting Phone Book 1. LCD display PHONEBOOK INPUT 2. Press SET/STORE key into the mode, LCD indicate to input phone numbers. 6

Press SET/STROE key after input the phone number then into the NAME setting mode, press [UP] or [DOWN] to adjust and use DEL key to amend. name setting, press 0 one time as BLANK SPACE,press twice as During,Press three times as.,press forth times as -. 3. Press SET/STORE to confirm the setting then press again into the next group name setting. 1.8 Setting Phone book Edit 1. LCD display PHONEBOOK EDIT 2. Press SET/STORE, LCD indicate the name you like to view, input the first Letter, then press SET/STORE to check the accordance phone umber of the person. 3. If don t input the first Letter but press SET/STORE will view the phone book in the order. 4. Select the definite number can be modified. Just like Edit. You can do it easily. 2. HOW TO OPERATE 2.1 Call Waiting feature Only workable with model HCD9888(38)TSD(CW). 2.2 Receiving the incoming calls When receive an incoming call with FSK/DTMF type, the LCD displays the caller numbers,date, time,and record its order,if the PABX can send the name with the call and there which the name in the phonebook, the phone will display the accordance name of the phone number. If get FSK incoming call, it will update the calendar month, date and time automatically, but the year setting unchanged. If get DTMF incoming call, as DTMF just contain phone number but no date and time,so the system will put the already sets (date,time )to the DTMF phone number. If it s a new call, then NEW symbol will disappear; If it s a stored number, then displays REP symbol.; If it s a private phone call then shows PRIVATE CALL, if the phone call out of area, then it shows OUT OF AREA; If it s a incorrect phone 7

number, then shows ERROR. 2.3 Viewing the caller list /Calling back To check who made phone call, please follow the steps below: 1. Press UP/DOWN key can view the oldest or most resent caller information, includes the callers numbers, date & time,etc Press UP/DOWN lasts 4 seconds can view quickly. 2. On-hook mode, recalling the local incoming calls, press REDIAL Key or SPRK key directly ; Recalling the long distance incoming calls,press REDIAL keys twice to add the LDS code before the phone number. 2.4 Viewing outgoing calls /redial an outgoing call Press OUT key to view the outgoing calls & its talking time. Press UP/DOWN key to view the list. Press OUT key lasts 4 seconds can view quickly. On-Hook mode, press SPKR can dial the outgoing call out. 2.5 UP Key Press UP key to search incoming calls, from the first group to the last group. On-hook or Off-hook mode can check the oldest numbers to the most current numbers freely. If no incoming calls information or the searching work finished, then END OF LIST appears to reminder you. If the incoming call with the caller s name, the name will display with the number. 2.6 DOWN Key Same as UP key, search from most current calls to the oldest one. 2.7 DEL Key a. On-hook mode, press DEL key to delete the wrong setting. b. Pre-dial mode, press DEL key to delete the wrong number(modification ); When view number, press DEL to delete the incoming call, press DEL lasts 4 seconds will delete all incoming call. Pressing DEL will delete the outgoing calls when view it. 2.8 Dial out Pre-dial phone numbers In On-hook mode, input the phone number which will be dialed, press DEL key to modify the wrong setting, then press SPKR or REDIAL dial out. 2.9 HOT LINE If the HOT LINE in ON mode, pick up handset or press any keys except SET/STORE and VOL can dial the Hot Line number out directly. 8

2.10 HOLD/ARD Key 2.10.1 Off-hook mode, press HOLD/ARD can close sending. Off-hook mode, press HOLD/ARD enter into Hold mode and put handset back. 1) Pick up handset again to release hold mode and enter into handset calling mode. 2) Or press HOLD/ARD key again enter into speaker calling mode. 3) Press SPKR key to release hold and enter into speaker calling mode. 4) Paralleled phone set off-hook to release hold mode and the other phone set realize on-hook mode. 2.10.2 If meet it s busy after off hook and dial the phone number, resume handset, press ARD key into the automatic redial mode. It s ringing back means the phone call connected, pick up handset or press SPKR to make the call. It will shut off automatically if there is no any feedback after 7 ringer. The ARD interval time is10 seconds. Press any key can stop the ARD when it in ARD mode. 2.11 REDIAL Key In Off-hook mode press REDIAL Key can dial out the last number dialed (utmost 32 digits) 2.12.[FLASH] function Enters a 600 ms hook-switch flash for accessing special telephone system. 2.13 Store phone numbers Two-Touch Memory: STORE: On-hook + Pre-dialed Phone number + SET/STORE + N (N=0 9,*, #) DISPLAY: On-Hook + REC key + N (N=0 9,*, #) Store Incoming Calls: STORE: On-Hook + Incoming Calls + Store + N (N=0 9,*, #) DISPLAY: On-Hook + REC key + N (N=0 9,*, #) 2.14 Dial Two-Touch Memory Numbers Off Hook mode, press REC key + N (N=0 9,*, #) will dial the stored number. 3. Handset and SPKR calling interconvert a. From handset to speaker Press [SPKR] then replace the handset in its cradle. 9

b.from speaker to handset Just lift the handset 4. Adjust SPKR Volume During calling mode, press VOL key to adjust the handset and speaker volume in three levels.in handset mode, after handset back to it s cradle the volume resume to low level. In speaker mode the volume back to mediate level. 5.Converting the Telephone to Wall Mount When telephones use for wall mount, it s need to pluck off the wall mounting clip and convert it then insert again. According to flowing and insert suitable screws and install the telephone then hold the telephone in front of the 2 mushroom shaped mounting post on the wall. Both eyelets should line up with the mounting posts, slide telephone down slightly. When properly installed the telephone will be stable and secure: Maintenance and troubleshooting Your 38TSD phone has been manufactured using the very latest technology, and the highest quality components and workmanship, under ISO9001 quality control 10

procedures. It can be relied on to provide many years of trouble-free service, especially if these simple tips are followed: 1. Handle with care, avoiding hard knocks and shocks. 2. Do not use it in extreme temperatures. 3. Clean the surface only with a slightly damp cloth. Don t use aerosol polish, abrasive cleaners, or solvents. Never immerse in water. 4. Do not tamper with or attempt to modify the phone, it would make it unsafe to use. Should any service difficulties or faults be encountered, the following list may help you identify and remedy problems. In many case, however, it may be necessary to call the distributor from whom you purchased it. Problem Possible Causes Ringer volume is low Check whether the ringer switch is slide to the High or not Noisy or no tone rusty terminal box or loose contact in connection box, or bad local line short or open circuit in connection box Display doesn t clear Check whether the contrast level of LCD is reasonable or not Warranty This equipment is warranted for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase against faulty materials or workmanship. If during this period a defect arises, we may exchange the equipment within 30 days from the purchasing date, provided that: The product has not been used for any purpose other than normal use, Unauthorized product repair or modifications have not been attempted.
