A growing market The figures are alarming: smoke is the primary cause of death in fires. Around 70 percent of all fire deaths in Germany occur during the night. Smouldering fires develop quickly due to obsolete electrical appliances or carelessness such as an unnoticed glowing cigarette. According to official estimates, the use of smoke detectors could halve the number of victims and incidents of fire damage. High-quality optical smoke detectors are particularly suitable for this. One of the few top-class systems on the market is the new ARGUS Smoke Detector System from Merten, which has been awarded a VdS (German Association of Property Insurers) test certificate for its reliability in smoke detection. Each radio module is fitted with a transmitter and receiver, so that in an emergency, all smoke detectors connected to the wireless network will trigger an alarm. For example, if a fire breaks out in the cellar or basement, the family sleeping in the attic will also be alerted in good time, allowing them to escape to safety. An additional central point as alarm receiver is therefore not necessary. This helps your customers save money. The ARGUS radio module operates on the specially reserved 868 MHz radio frequency, which means that interference or false alarms are impossible. Your customers are therefore always on the safe side. The relay module with two-way contact also allows smoke detectors to be combined with external alarm equipment (e.g. horns or vibration cushions) or integrated into the INSTABUS EIB building management system. This means that older or deaf people, for example, can feel safe. Zero-signal current monitoring (for alarm loops) is also made possible by the break contact.
