for Admission to rofessional/academic Courses in National & State Academic & Technical Institutions e-counselling is a web based tool for on line counselling for the students desirous of taking admission in various Academic and Technical courses being offered by National and State Academic & Technical Institutions in the country. The system facilitates the prospective students to select the preferred institution and the branches from any internet point online as per their eligibility. Once the choices are submitted by the students the seat allocation is being done as per the merit obtained in the entrance examination and the seat reservation policies of National and respective State Governments. The system is being used by AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India since 2004 for admission in various NIT's and Deemed Universities. Subsequently various State Governments viz. Uttar radesh, Haryana, unjab, Rajasthan, Kerala, Andhra radesh, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Uttranchal, Orissa, Gujrat have started using the system for admission in various Technical/Academic courses like, Engineering, Medical, B.Ed, MCA, MBA, olytechnics etc. National Council of Hotel Management, under Ministry of Tourism have adopted the system since last two years for admission in Bachelor of Hotel Management and Hospitality courses in various Institutes of Hotel Management in the country. As a part of the process some of the examination boards like AIEEE, Orissa etc are also using the system for on-line form submission for Entrance Examination which is linked to the e-payment gateway for fee submission etc. As a variant, Haryana State Counseling Society (HSCS) is using the system for on-line Entrance Test (OLET) for admission in MCA, B. harma and Lateral Entry courses in Engineering. The system has brought in absolute transparency in admission processes of various professional courses in the country. In the year 2009-10, about 25 lakh students interacted with the system and about 8 lakh seats were allocated. Candidates are advised not to share or divulge any information which is essential to gain access to system like admit card information or userid and password, which on contrary would result in losing control over the system resulting in unauthenticated access and undesirable updations/deletions which may result in non-allotment of a seat or makes oneself out of the counseling process completely. Locking the exercised choices is essential before the closure of the counseling period failing which the choices may not be processed for seat allotment Advised to Change password at frequent intervals in one's own interest. Advised to go to a computer terminal for participating in the counseling process well prepared for carrying out counseling related actions/ updations after thorough homework and detailing so as to use less computer time and efforts which not only saves money but also precious time for others who are waiting in queue for their turn. When and where ever feasible and convenient, it is suggested to use the facilities of Admission/Help Centres for attending to counseling related activities as the access is not only free but also helps to avail expert advise on the counseling related activities and clarifications of doubts if any. Advised to go through the websites of respective counseling boards to understand the policies, rules & regulations, schedules of the counseling rounds like duration and deadlines, important notices and circulars as the counseling schedule likely to change without any advance intimation/prior notice It is essential to follow closely on updates on the counseling processes and also seat allotment results as individual communications would not be sent and some timely actions may be required to be taken based on the updates within a stipulated period. Flow of e-counseling processes Websites are the main sources of information depicting various stages of counseling processes contain all counseling related information, latest updates and seat allotments in the counseling, etc. Submission of online applications/hardcopy (on purchase of brochure) along with e- payment (if applicable) for appearing in the Common Entrance Test (CET) as per schedule to become eligible for Counseling based on the merit secured in the CET. he/she would be able to access the system Candidate could login to the system from any internet point as per convenience and could also be able to login as many times as desired during the counseling period and be able to exercise choices comprising of Institutions and Branches as per individual's preference. Candidate could view the exercised choices, change their order, add new choices, delete choices, etc. after gaining access to the system Candidate is required to freeze the choices after finalization of choices Candidate could defreeze the choices if desired and could make changes as desired and is required freeze again Candidate is required to lock the choices, which is mandatory for processing towards allotment of seat and could take a print of the same. Allotment result would be published on the website as per predefined schedule.
