CONTRACT NUMBER: TCP8-GA-2009-234082 WP 5 Gothenburg Central Station 15/12/2011 Lisboa Monica Lundin TFK 1/ Gothenburg Central Station 40-50 000 travellers per weekday 380 train departures and arrivals per weekday 1000 daily bus departures to Swedish and European destinations The major part: regional travelling in combination with several national and international express services Long-distance trains within Sweden, direct train to Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen, Denmark 2 1

Gothenburg Central Station Major national, as well as regional, transport hub for passenger transportation in the south west of Sweden. Also meeting possibilities, hotel, shops. With the different transport modes at the station it should be easy for travelers to change mode. The station is situated in the center of Gothenburg city and has close connection to the city as well as the nearby port. 3 Current situation Results from WP3 and WP4: regulations about information services as well as regulations about safety and security can be improved. Lower satisfaction with these parameters than in other European countries, for example in Eastern and Southern countries. The level of service is formally more assessed and monitored in Eastern and Southern countries than in Nordic and Central ones; from January 1 st all passenger transport will be de-regulated in Sweden. 2

Current situation High satisfaction during survey period from passengers/stakeholders. 65-76% content. Remarks: toilets, security, information Past winter (November-March 2010/2011) the number of disturbance hours for passengers in the Swedish train traffic were 4,1 million hours, which corresponds to a cost of 2,6 billion SEK. Increase with 8 % compared to the last winter. Lack in correct information in the stations and on the trains and the travellers satisfaction has been very low during this period. Current situation January 1st 2012 the Swedish passenger transport will be fully de-regulated. This implicates that more stakeholders and operators will be present at Gothenburg Central Station. The risk of getting a situation with less co-ordinated information and confusion among travellers is high. 3
