3 We perform strategic planning for Sweden s national transport network The Swedish Transport Administration is responsible for the long-term planning of the transport system for road traffic, rail traffic, maritime shipping, and air traffic The Swedish Transport Administration is responsible for construction, operation, and maintenance of the state road network and national railway network We promote and take action in regional strategic planning and transport system analyses, and community planning projects We interlink the transport system with regional and municipal community

7 What does each authority do? 1(2) The Swedish Transport Administration is responsible for the long-term planning of the transport system for road traffic, rail traffic, maritime shipping, and air traffic; as well as for construction, operation and maintenance of the state road network and national railway network The Swedish Transport Agency is the regulatory body for all transport modes; develops and enforces rules, issues licences (driving licences and certificates), registers changes in ownership, manages congestion and vehicle taxes Transport Analysis scrutinizes and evaluates facts and data used in the decision making process, evaluates measures and is responsible for statistics

8 What does each authority do? 2(2) LFV Group operates air traffic control for civil and military flights in Sweden, and is responsible for safety in, and development of, Swedish airspace The Swedish Maritime Administration is responsible for security and accessibility at sea, as well as for construction, operation, and maintenance of maritime shipping infrastructure

9 The Swedish Transport Administration will meet Sweden s official policy goals The overarching goal of Sweden s official transport policy is to ensure a socio-economically efficient transport provision, sustainable over the long term, for citizens and trade and industry across the country The main objective for Sweden s transport policy: Accessibility Considering and setting end conditions for: Safety, the environment and health

10 The Swedish government has also given the Swedish Transport Administration the responsibility to run a secretariat for Green Corridors. This responsibility includes closely following the subject Green Corridors in Sweden and in other EU countries

11 The Swedish Transport Administrations view on TEN - T A transport network that is coherent and embraces all means of transportation Reducing the impact on the environment caused by the transport sector Making use of the possibilities of shifting goods from road to rail and sea International individual traveling by car shifts to public transportation by buss and train Baltic Core Network
