Course Syllabus RNSG 2230 Professional Nursing Review and Licensure Revision Date: Summer 15 Course Name: Professional Nursing Review and Licensure Course Number: RNSG 2230 Semester Credit Hours: 2 Lecture Hours per week: 2 Contact Hours per Semester: 64 State Approval Code: CIP 51.3801 Pre-requisites: RNSG 1412, 2261, 1343, 1263 Co-requisites: RNSG 2231, 2263, 2221 Course Description: Review of concepts required for licensure examination and entry into the practice of professional nursing. The NCLEX-RN test plan, assessment of knowledge deficits, and development of individual study plans based on results of previous specialty HESI exams will be utilized. This course is a hybrid course. The application of NCLEX principles and concepts will be utilized preparing the student for success on NCLEX. Apply knowledge, skills and understanding of critical concepts required for entry into professional nursing. Purpose and Goals of the Course: Apply knowledge, skills, and understanding of critical concepts required for entry into professional nursing. Demonstrate individual competency level applicable to nursing content areas. Exhibits readiness for licensure examination by achieve a 900 on the HESI exit exam. Core Competencies: Students are expected to demonstrate basic competency in reading, writing, oral communication, math, and computer skills. Students are expected to be an active learning participant by assuming accountability in preparing for each class by completing required readings and/or other learning activities as listed in the syllabus. 1

Panola College Associate Degree Nursing Program Course Requirements: 1. Regular class attendance within current attendance policies. 2. Completion of assignments by due date. 3. Preparation and active participation in class. 4. Outside readings and assignments. 5. Compliance with all rules and regulations as outlined in current Department of Nursing Student Handbook and Panola College Catalog. This includes academic integrity. Each student MUST turn in their own work, including exams. If this is not done, turning in work done by someone else and/or submitting exams with prior knowledge of questions not given by instructor, will be grounds for a review of conduct and a zero on the exam. Special Needs If any student in this class has special classroom or testing needs because of physical, learning, or emotional conditions, please contact the ADA counselor in the administration building, telephone # 903-693-1123. Attendance Policy According to the Associate Degree Nursing Student Handbook, it is expected that every student will be present at all classes. Classes begin promptly time TBA and students will not be allowed to enter the classroom after this time; students may enter during a break, however, the student will still receive a tardy. Panola One students are expected to log into the class on the first date opened. Many of the class activities will be done outside of class therefore the class will meet as indicated on the calendar, Absences-refer to the absence policy in the Student Handbook Tardies- 3 tardies is equal to 1 absence Students are expected to prepare for, attend, and participate in all classes. Assignments are expected to be submitted on time! GRADING: The final course grade will be based on the score received on the comprehensive HESI which is administered at the end of each semester. 900 or greater on the comprehensive HESI = A 800-899 on the comprehensive HESI = B Less than 800 on the comprehensive HESI = C Students who do not score 900 or above on the comprehensive HESI will be required to take an additional NCLEX preparation by registering for RNSG 1193 after graduation which is a 4 week course and includes the NCSBN prep course which is approximately $80 course and re-taking the comprehensive HESI. 4
