Seller Insight Before purchasing October House eleven years ago my husband and I had a much larger property in the countryside, says Vera, but we wanted to downsize and move closer to the town centre, and this house suited us perfectly. The house was under twenty-years old when we bought it, so in very good condition, but during our time here we ve made the odd change here and there. We also had a beautiful conservatory built, which runs almost the full width of the house. It s accessed via sliding doors from both the sitting room and the TV room and a single door from the kitchen, so there s a really nice flow from the house, into the conservatory and then out into the garden. At our previous property we had two acres of land, continues Vera, so when we decided to move I was keen to have a much more manageable garden. Here we have a nice patio area, a very attractive circular lawn and beds of shrubs and flowers. I can potter around and keep it tidy, which enables my husband and I to have more time to enjoy it. We like to go out there for morning coffee, and when it s warm we sit out, have our evening meal and a glass of wine; it s ideal. When the family comes to visit we usually congregate in the conservatory, which is a nice room to entertain in, says Vera, but when it s just the two of us we usually gravitate to the TV room. It has patio door leading into the conservatory, so it s very light and bright, and it s a nice quiet room to sit in with a good book or watch a spot of TV. We are moving to be closer to our son, but I think we will both be sad to leave, says Vera. Both the house and garden have been ideal for us, but I think it s the location that I shall miss the most.
We ve updated elements such as the bathroom and put in a lovely new kitchen.
I love the fact that our immediate location is so quiet and secluded; often the only sound to be heard is birdsong, says Vera, and yet it s just a short stroll into the centre of town where we have lovely shops, restaurants, wine bars everything. It s just so convenient.
Stratford-upon-Avon is a beautiful town and I think it caters for just about every need, says Vera, but if we have needed to travel further afield, the mainline station is only a few minutes away and the road links are excellent. We ve updated elements such as the bathrooms, put in a lovely new kitchen and
