vpn.airproducts.com Windows XP Client Configuration To successfully connect to the Air Products vpn.airproducts.com website and have full functionality, the client computer needs to have the following two pieces of software installed and working: 1. An installed and running Anti Virus Program (Norton, McAfee, etc ) that has been recently updated 2. Whale Communications Components: a. Install the Components for the first time (if you have never installed the Whale components before, you will be prompted to do a first time install. See the First Time Installation instructions below) b. Upgrade existing Components (if you have an older version of the Whale components already installed, e.g. for using my.airproducts.com, you will be prompted to upgrade. See the Upgrade Instructions which start on page 10. Warning You will need to have Administrator access to the computer to install these software packages. Future updates will not require Administrator access. First Time Whale Communications Component Installation 1. Open Internet Explorer and connect to http://vpn.airproducts.com/ 2. Choose your current location from the VPN Starting page. 3. The first time you connect, you will be presented with a webpage asking you to install the Whale components. Page 1 of 13

3. Click on the yellow bar at the top (see yellow arrow above). Once you click the bar at the top, options will appear, choose Install ActiveX Control. (see below) Page 2 of 13

4. A security warning may pop-up, choose Install. 5. If you have a pop-up blocker enabled, a window may ask for you to add the site to the pop-up blockers allowed sites list. Click on Yes. Page 3 of 13

6. The Whale Components will ask you if you trust the website you are connecting to. Choose the setting that best conforms to your security requirements and click Trust. If you choose Always, you will not be prompted again until the Whale components are upgraded. Page 4 of 13

7. If you are running the Windows Firewall, you may be prompted to Block or Unblock the Whale Components from running. Choose Unblock. Page 5 of 13

8. You will then be presented with a logon screen. Logon to the website using your Air Products credentials. 9. If you are running the Windows Firewall, you may be prompted to permit the Whale Components. Click Unblock to permit the Whale Components to function. Page 6 of 13

10. A warning message should appear letting you know that the browser will restart after the components are completely installed. Click OK. 11. After it installs the components, another warning that the browser will be restarted will appear. Click OK. 12. After the browser restarts, it should take you right into the Air Products VPN portal. 13. Click on the Relaunch AP Network Connector link. 14. If you are running the Windows Firewall, you may be prompted to permit the Whale Components. Click Unblock to permit the Whale Components to function. Page 7 of 13

15. The AP Network Connector application should start. Page 8 of 13

16. You should see the AP Network Connector application icon in your taskbar at the bottom right of your PC screen 17. Right click the Network Connector icon in the taskbar and choose Disconnect Network Connector. The Whale Components have been successfully installed. *** Stop here, this completes the 1 st time install instructions *** Refer to the usage instructions to begin using the AP Network Connector Page 9 of 13

Upgrading Existing Components 1. Open Internet Explorer and connect to http://vpn.airproducts.com/ 2. Choose your current location from the VPN Starting page. 3. If you have a pop-up blocker enabled, a window may ask for you to add the site to the pop-up blockers allowed sites list. Click on Yes. 4. A message stating that your Whale Client Components will be upgraded and your browser will be restarted will appear. Click OK, to upgrade the components. 5. Click OK to restart your web browser. 6. Your browser will close and reopen. You may be asked to upgrade your components again. Click OK, to upgrade the components. 7. You may be prompted to restart your computer to finish upgrading your Whale Client Components. Click Yes to restart your computer. Page 10 of 13

8. Click Yes to restart your computer. 9. After your computer restarts, open Internet Explorer and connect to Air Products VPN Portal page. 10. The Whale Components will ask you if you trust the website you are connecting to. Choose the setting that best conforms to your security requirements and click Trust. If you choose Always, you will not be prompted again until the Whale components are upgraded. 11. You will then be presented with a logon screen. Logon to the website using your Air Products credentials. Page 11 of 13

12. After logging on, you will see the following Whale Communications Portal window. The AP Network Connector application automatically launched so you can close this window. You are now connected to the AP network and have full use of your laptop. Page 12 of 13

13. You should see the AP Network Connector application icon in your taskbar at the bottom right of your PC screen 14. Right click the Network Connector icon in the taskbar and choose Disconnect Network Connector.
