NOHA Winter School 2016 Linking Relief, Rehabilitation and Development Pavia - Italy The first edition of the Winter School in Pavia offers an informed and practice-oriented approach to the main challenges, current discussions and key issues around linking relief, rehabilitation and development. The Winter School is organized in five modules conducted with similar techniques of active learning: frontal lessons with the presentation of theory and case studies, free discussion, structured inquiries, brainstorm sessions, and fishbowl. Moreover, participatory facilitation techniques will be adopted in order to encourage the involvement learning experience of all the trainees. After being marginalised in the aid debate for a couple of decades, after the end of XX century the issue of linking relief, rehabilitation and development (LRRD) is back on the agenda and is influencing the planning of donors, implementing actors and local institutions. The creation of financial and operational cross-cutting frameworks for long and short-term aid programming is currently being developed, but still problematic. This course is a blend of theory and practical learning which will introduce participants to the concepts and will give them practical opportunities to apply these concepts to operational approaches. The course faculty is comprised of leading experts from around the humanitarian world, presenting conceptual and practical insight into the course content thus providing participants with first-hand experience, examples and case studies drawn from major humanitarian emergencies. The Winter School is organised by the University of Pavia, member of the NOHA Network, CISP and the UNITWIN/UNESCO Network on International Cooperation and Development, with the financial support of DG ECHO. Event date 12-16 December 2016; course length of 5 days. Pre-registration until 31 October 2016 Final payment deadline: 15 November 2016 Location University of Pavia Pavia - Italy Course Fee Course fee (inclusive of all course materials): 215.
