1 STUDENT WELCOME LETTER Dear students, We are pleased to host you for the Florence Network Annual Meeting, that this year will take place in the cities of Trento and Verona (Italy). The event will take place at: - Trento Campus Polo Unive r s itar io de lle Pr ofe s s ioni Sanitar ie in Trento for the most part of the activities - University of Verona for visiting the main University and some of the most considerable and relevant clinical contexts. The main theme of the conference will be Caring and Internationalization. Nurses and midwives, while working, spend the whole part of their time in caring, in every activity and operation they do, in every thought they make. In fact, taking care of the patients is a nursing and midwifery practice that professionals achieve through competent actions and availability in looking intentionally after patients, always thinking how to guarantee the best results in every term during the healing process for every different patient. Caring is not just about actions, but it is about

2 thoughts and feelings too, and the fundamental principle in all of thes e things, that leads healthcare assistants, is the patient (and his/her family). T his Annual Meeting will give us the opportunity to examine in depth car ing from both the patient and the professionals points of view. OUR UNIVERSIT Y The University of Verona is dedicated to innovation and to maintaining the high quality of its teaching and research. The institution has 22,000 students of many different Departments. Nursing programme has approximately 1800 students and midwifery programme has about 80 students and cooperates with hospitals and health care centers in the two regions: Veneto and Trentino- Alto Adige. The University manages the educational activities, academic and not, which allow students to obtain: Bachelor s degree, masters of first and second level, PhD programme and vocational education (Nursing Assistants and Professional Sanitary Courses). Moreover, there are Courses of Continuing Pedagogical Education for Nurses, Midwiferies, Teachers and Tutors. The Polo Universitario delle Professioni Sanitarie ( /polouniversitario- professioni- sanitarie?inheritredirect=true) is one of the five campus under the School of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Verona ( which is the main campus and the central point of the whole University, which includes four other university branches for the Nursing Programme, which are: Vicenza, Legnago, Bolzano and Trento. The Nursing Course in T rento has about 390 students, divided into the three academic years, and in Verona has about 850 students. To access to the Midwife ry programme there is a very strict selection because only 25 students can enter to the first year and there is only a Course in Verona main campus.

3 HELPFUL & PRATICAL INFORMATION Date: the meeting will be from 19 th April to 22 nd April The registration will be at the Polo Universitario delle Professioni Sanitarie and will start at 5:30 pm on the 19 th of April. Whe re : mainly in Trento, the day 21 st in Verona (for the complete agenda see the program). Address: via Briamasco, number , Trento (Italy). Sleeping accommodation: Hostel Giovane Europa - Via Torre Vanga, number 9 Trento (2 minutes walking far from the Central rail Station and about 5 minutes walking from the Polo Universitario delle Professioni Sanitarie ). There you will find comfortable and clean rooms with 4 or 6 beds for each. Every room has a private bathroom (with toilet paper) and one wardrobe for everyone inside the room. T he bed is provided of pillow, sheets and a blanket. You have to bring by yourself towels, soap and similar things. Transport: - In T re nto: there is an efficient urban public transport until about pm. The distance from Polo Universitario delle Professioni Sanitarie to the Train and Bus Central Station is about 10 minutes walking. Consulting the

4 website you can find all the timetables of every urban bus in the city of Trento. - To arrive in Trento: By plane: Trento is connected with the main airports by the A22 Brennero Motorway and by the railway: 90 km from Catullo Airport (Verona), about 200 km from Venice (Marco Polo) and Bergamo (Orio al Serio) airports, 245 km from Linate Airport (Milan), 265 km from Malpensa Airport (Milan) and 60 km from the new airport in Bolzano. For those arriving in Milan: a shuttle service is guaranteed for travellers arriving in Malpensa and Linate Airports. Buses leave every minutes 24 hours a day. For those arriving in Verona (Valerio Catullo Airport) or Brescia (Montichiari Airport): there is a shuttle bus service to Verona railway station every day, leaving every 20 minutes from 6:30 am to 11:35 pm. For those arriving in Bergamo (Orio al Serio Airport): there is a shuttle bus service to Bergamo railway station, leaving every 15 minutes from 6:05 am to 00:15 am; or to Milano Centrale railway station leaving every 20 minutes from 04:30 am to 01:00 am and to Brescia railway station. For those arriving in Venice (Marco Polo Airport): there are buses to Mestre- Venezia railways stations. For those arriving in Bolzano (ABD Airport), no connection to the airport with public city buses. The next bus stop is 600 mt from the airport (Line 10A or 10B). You can then reach Trento by train. By train: in the website you can find all the timetables you need about the trains from and to every station of Italy. Trento railway station is in Piazza Dante. Please note that you always have to change train in Verona (to go to Trento the direction is Brennero/Monaco) and there are no train connections from 11:00 pm to 05:00 am. If you are coming from Austria or Germany, check or websites. Please note that from the main airports to Trento rail station there is available a private bus connection.
