lorem ipsum dolor Record One Day Food Drive! Thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Citizens of Cold Lake for record setting food drive! I m sitting in my office just amazed and delighted at the generosity and support of the community for the work we share in together through the Food Bank. Today was the third annual September Food Drive organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cherry Grove. And today they set their all time record for a one day food drive in Cold Lake. The Food Drive brought in a total of 4,012.2 Kg of groceries to be provided to needy neighbours in and around Cold Lake. Using the Food Banks Canada conversion number, that becomes $22,067.10 on food. How long will it take to share this food with needy clients. In the first two weeks of September we served 191 individuals, couples or families, providing 4,138.5kg of groceries worth $22,761.74. We expect the demand on the food bank to be the same or higher for the rest of September and the year. Todays amazing food drive will carry us to the end of September. Treasury Branch Provides BBQ We appreciate and value the friendship and partnership we share with ATB Cold Lake. Thank you to the branch for purchasing a BBQ for the Food Bank, so that we can put on some hot dogs and hamburgers on a sunny day for our clients and anyone dropping by to say hello, drop off donations or just to take a look at what we are doing. I m hoping that the weather stays warm and sunny a little longer so we can light up the BBQ before the cold weather hits us. If you notice us as you go by please drop by for a hot dog or burger. 2

And our God will meet all our needs according to his Dear Friends: glorious riches in Christ Jesus! Philippians 4:19 Adapted We are coming to the end of the third quarter of the first year of our responsibility for the operation of the Food Bank through the Cold Lake Food Bank Society. We have been involved in an amazing experience of the outpouring of God s glorious riches in Christ Jesus as he met every need we have had, many times by wonderful on time surprises of gifts of money and donations of food. It will come as no surprise to any of us that the use of the Food bank has increased by numbers that none of us ever anticipated. The number of people we have fed through the food bank has increased 290%. So far this year we have fed 9,480 neighbors. I want to try to help us understand the size of the riches of God s grace that we are experiencing. I have an idea of what it takes to feed myself. Some of us have an idea of what it takes to feed one hundred people at a banquet. But what does it take to feed an average of 256 a week through a whole year? This is what the Food Bank looks like on Wednesday morning September 21, just before we a open. The shelves a completely full. There is about 4,000kg of food on these shelves. It takes 8,000kg a month to care for the individuals, couples and families that need the support of the Food Bank. More than half the groceries provided by the Food Bank are purchased every month. The money comes from generous individuals, couples, families, churches, corporations, businesses groups and organizations. Grocery bills have risen from $8,669.74 in January to 20,545.18 in August. The Food Bank has purchased $112,739.03 of groceries from January through August. We expect that purchases for September through December will be $60,000.00. What you are reading and thinking about right now is the size, the weight, the volume and the amount of the riches of God s grace to us in Christ Jesus. Our testimony, our witness is that out of his glorious riches in Christ Jesus, our God has supplied everything we have needed to do the work of love that he has called us to. I believe that God will continue to meet our needs out of the storehouse of his love. I think his provision will continue to surprise us and open our hearts in generosity, wonder and praise. Thank you for your partnership in caring for our neighbors who need food support with healthy nutritional groceries. Phil Crump
