Smith Family Service Description: Learning for Life. Learning for Life is a scholarship program for low income families with children at school from K to year 10. The scholarship helps with school needs such as uniform, books, excursions and school supplies. Scholarships continue to year 11/12 and University or TAFE but students must be enrolled before year 10. Scholarships can only be offered when there are available places. Families are referred by schools and other organisations. Financial Literacy. Financial literacy is a free course that gives participants an understanding of financial planning and managing money. Participants can obtain a certificate 1 in Financial Services. Unlimited Potential. Unlimited Potential is a free course that gives participants an understanding of fundamental computer skills such as using email, the internet and preparing documents. Mental Health Services Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS ) Central Mental Health Service, MLHD Service Description: The CAMHS service of the Central Mental Health Service provides mental health responses to children and adolescents, and their families. These services include: Triage through the 24 hour Greater Southern Accessline 1800 800 944 Emergency mental health responses at the Emergency Departments of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Local Hospitals throughout the region Inpatient support at the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital Psychiatric and Paediatric Wards Mental Health assessment and management by skilled CAMHS Clinicians located across the region Psychiatric assessment and management through visiting Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists and the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Tele-medicine Outreach Service based at the Children s Hospital at Westmead Secondary consultation and liaison through CAMHS across the region, including support to Primary Schools and organisations involved in supporting children and adolescents with mental health concerns Promotion, prevention and early intervention strategies delivered through SchoolLink support to Secondary Schools and TAFE s across the region Support to Adult Mental Health Services in relation to the needs of children of parents with mental health problems O Reilly Place WAGGA WAGGA NSW 2650 Phone: 02 6923 5700 Accessline Phone: 1800 800 944 Hours: Accessline is a 24 hour service as are the Emergency Departments of the Hospitals across the region. Schizophrenia Fellowship Sunflower Family Services Service Description: Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW Inc. is committed to improving the circumstances and welfare of people living with schizophrenia, their relatives and carers, and professionals working in the area. The Fellowship works to: Eliminate stigma and create a society that is understanding and accepting. Ensure that people with schizophrenia, and their carers and relatives, have access to information and appropriate services. Advocate on behalf of people with schizophrenia, their carers and relatives and mental health professionals, for better government policy in the areas of research, treatment, rehabilitation, housing and other relevant areas. Sunflower House Service Description: Sunflower House offers non-clinical, psych-social services to people with mental illness. Personal Helpers and Mentors Service (PHaMs) People aged 16 and over (living in 2650 or 2651 postcode areas) whose ability to manage daily activities and live independently is severely impacted as a result of severe mental illness are able to access this service. Five F/T staff members are employed, each with a case-load of 12 people. A PHaMs Worker provides direct and personalised assistance through outreach to help participants in their recovery journey, reconnecting with their community, family, and carers as appropriate. Day to Day Living (D2DL) This program also targets those with persistent and severe mental illness who have a functional disability and/ or social isolation. It consists of social, recreational and educational activities both at Sunflower House and in the wider community. Clients supported under D2DL may also be participants in PHaMs. A monthly program of activities available at Sunflower House Resource and Recovery programs offer seamless transition for clients of D2DL/PHaMs into engagement with wider community groups and organisations. A priority is the increased ability for those with mental illness to participate in employment, education and training as well as being able to access accommodation. Carer Assist provides information, education, advocacy and support for people who care for someone with a mental illness. A Group for Consumers (known as Members of Sunflower House) meets at Sunflower House each Thursday at 11:30am for discussions, monthly BBQ, guest speakers and outings. Meets first Thursday of each month in the Wollundry Room at the Senior Citizens Centre, Tarcutta street, Wagga 7:00 to 9:00pm. Contact Carmel 6922 3862. Support After Suicide for those bereaved after suicide. Meetings are held in the day one month and the evening the next month. Both meetings are held at the RSL Club in Dobbs Street, Wagga.
