Organisation Alliance People Solutions Short Description Assist individuals in finding apprenticeships and traineeships across a broad range of industry sectors. Offering professional advice and some free courses. Anglicare Assyrian Resource Centre Bonnie Women s Refuge Break Thru Employment Solutions Liverpool Community Centre Support & assistance to young people and their families experiencing difficulties. Providing counselling and services to integrate individuals back into the community. Services also include Juvenile Justice for young people where needed. Support for the Assyrian Community in the South Western Sydney area. This includes case management and referral services. Bonnie s mission is to support women with or without children who are experiencing or have experienced domestic and family violence and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. General support for those with barriers to employment. Services include: Mental Health, Disability Employment, and a job seeker action Group (JAG). There is provision for pre-vocational training, counselling as well as various computer courses. Participants are also able to self-refer. Centre is host to various teams including the Fairfield Migrant Resource Centre, Multicultural Community Care Service and of particular relevance the Youth Team (CYT). CYT provide educational & recreational activities, case management and counselling for young people aged between 12 to 24 years old. These initiatives also include early intervention/prevention programs around drugs & alcohol, assistance for homeless young people, and financial brokerage. The centre provides assistance to people who are disadvantaged by language and cultural barriers. It offers casework and referrals for migrant and refugee families of non-english speaking backgrounds and other needy local residents. 1
2 Catholic Care Fairfield and Liverpool Fairfield Liverpool Direct Employment Disability employment services for those with learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injury, mental health issues. Assists people to gain and maintain employment. Pre-employment service for school leavers with a learning disability or an acquired brain injury. Referred by school. Family Services Catholic Care s Family Services provides comprehensive, client focused services for individuals, couples, families and children. Training Services Focuses on providing training for people with disabilities in order for the client to increase their skills to live more independently in the community. Disability Employment Services Assists people with disabilities and mental health issues to develop vocational skills and access employment options. Support Services Provides case management to people with a range of mental health issues. Community 2168 Project Various projects for residents, especially young people in this area to enhance employment opportunities and access to the community. This includes the delivery of workshops, education and training programs and youth leadership initiatives. Community First Step Community First Step (CFS) provide various services that assist young people aged 8 to 24 years old. These include recreational, education, employment and referral services. CFS also provides Disability Services for individuals aged over 18 with an intellectual disability; this includes Post School Options (PSO) and Transition to Work (TTW) programs where participants can develop their self esteem and set goals for themselves. CFS is also a Job Services Australia (JSA) provider and has been identified as the only Multicultural Specialist in the Fairfield/Bonnyrigg areas. Department of Community Services (DOCS) Police Station DEC Canley Vale Tutorial Centre Street Team Initial counselling, case management, assess risk factors and support needs, referral to other support services, reconnect young people with families where possible. Includes working with young people and/or parents with intellectual disability. Years 9 and 10. DEC only Young people with challenging behaviour that makes success at 2
3 mainstream school unlikely. Usually referred by school counsellor. Fairfield City Council Fairfield City Library Service Fairfield Liverpool Youth Health Team (FLYHT) Based at Carramar, but programs offered at various locations in Fairfield & Liverpool LGAs Various Council Services Council provides the Youth Info Map, the guide to youth services in the region and the GROW UP Kit that assists the youth to access these services. Council also facilitates the Fairfield Youth Workers Network and the Youth Advisory Committee. Children or Youth Services Help with homework Help with reading and writing with qualified tutors HSC lectures Various school holiday activities Various interactive education programs covering healthy relationships, nutrition, communication, drugs and alcohol, groups for refugees, migrants and newly arrived individuals. Can be delivered at schools, the FLYHT centre or other venues. General counselling for mental health issues, grief, bereavement, trauma etc. Transport to the Carramar office can also be provided (appointment required). FLYHT also offers the Koori Youth Health Workshop for the Indigenous community. Fairfield Migrant Resource Centre Funded by: Father Chris Riley s Youth Off the Streets Merrylands Youth Settlement Program Assist young people and their families with resettlement issues. Case and group work with students at Fairfield High School one day per week. Chapel School Accredited high school, for young people 13 to 18 years old. Offer a flexible curriculum with a focus on literacy and numeracy that respond to specific needs, interests and talents of young people who have become disconnected from mainstream education. Dunlea Drug & alcohol day program Integration & Transition to Independence Integration into employment, main stream school, job support etc. Aims to provide a slow transition back into mainstream society. Caseworkers support this process. Step Up Program The Step Up Program is for students who have completed Year 10 and /or older students who need further opportunities to gain Year 11 Certificate 3
4 of Attainment, Workplace skills and TAFE qualifications. ASPIRE Aboriginal Education Program to support Aboriginal students to realise their full educational potential. Gandagara Employment Training Services Liverpool Inspire Community Cartwright Sadlier Canley Vale / Fairfield Junction Works Karitane Villawood (GETS) Training and employment opportunities for people from ATSI background, eg RSA, Forklift Licence etc. Training Services Barista, Forklift Licence, Free Computer course runs on Wednesday 9.30 a.m Social Welfare Positive parenting course (Triple P), Smart recovery course & Breaking the cycle course. Enterprise development Charity computers, Screen Printing & Charity Dinner. Financial Solutions No Interest Loan Scheme Financial Counselling (as of January 2012). Employment Service - Work for the dole program Practical Welfare Food assistance, Electricity & Clothing vouchers. Youth Program called Xchange Outreach program runs in the summer months. (Liverpool, Lurnea, Casula & ) Disability Services Transition to Work (TTW) program, time limited program for school leavers with a disability. The Young People Leaving Care program supports young people with an intellectual disability aged 15 years and over, who are in the care of Children s Court and requiring support from ADHC services. These programs are supported by casework. Youth Services Helps young people gain the relevant skills to reach their full potential and make them aware of the possibilities available to them. Programs also include Sibling Support, Youth Clicks and Youth Case Management. Health promotion project called Talking Realities. This is a young parenting education program designed to educate teens on the realities of being a young parent and the impact it has on their lives. Khmer Community Bonnyrigg Links to Learning Assisting at risk Khmer students. Focusing on life skills, literacy and numeracy etc. Settlement Grant Programs Casework: Face to face and telephone consultations for Khmer clients Developing Communities: provides information sessions in partnership with other agencies. Aims to assist newly arrived migrants. Integration-Inclusion and Participation: Aims to assist new arrivals to interact with and to understand the broader Australian Community. 4

The Space : Area for young people with computers, Playstation, X Box, and special book collection. Recreation based activities are run from this space. Westside Youth Centre Links to Learning Youth aged years. Offer various educational & recreational activities, workshops, excursions, information, referral & support services. Focuses on youth at risk of disengaging. Warwick Farm Neighbourhood Centre TAFE outreach courses Provides individual youth casework and supports Lurnea IEC unit. English Classes Intermediate and advanced. Free Homework Support Classes Help for students who require additional support with their homework The centre also provides referral services and support groups where needed. Liverpool Volunteer Resource Centre (Based at Liverpool Library) Liverpool Youth Accommodation Assistance Company Liverpool Youth Refuge Lotus House Links volunteers to vacant volunteering positions. Various Training Services available Various programs to assist young people through accommodation, training, job seeking skills, living skills and social skills. Case Management is also provided to assist in designing an individually tailored plan, focusing on immediate needs and developing longer term goals. Crisis care for young people aged years Pregnancy Youth Program aged years Provide accommodation for young women from various cultural backgrounds. The service focuses on providing mediation to clients and families and continues to work towards early intervention, post crisis and community engagement. Service also offers outreach support to schools in the Fairfield LGA. Mission Australia Fairfield Links to Learning Program Free program for 15 to 24 year olds who require assistance after leaving school and are not engaged in formal education and/or are at risk of becoming long-term unemployed. 5
6 Job Services Australia Case work support for unemployed individuals provided by each site. Pathways Family Resource Centre Provides support for 6-12 year olds focusing on transition to high school. Free counselling also available to young people and their families. MTC Work Solutions Warakirri College Fairfield MTC Work Solutions Warakirri College is a registered and accredited non-government school specifically designed for the inclusion of those young people in Year 10, 11 & 12 who have been unable to complete their studies in mainstream schools. Youth Connections Try to assist students to stay at school, or find apprenticeship, TAFE etc. or refer them to Links to Learning to re-do Yr10 or something else. Deals with issues such as drugs & alcohol, mental health, academic performance, bullying, family issues, literacy/numeracy. Independent Employment Advisory Service (IEAS) Program to provide services for at risk young people by providing one-onone case management or small groups. Navitas Group Head Office Sydney New Horizons Newleaf Communities NSW SLASA Bonnyrigg Navitas English provides students with a range of services such as English classes, settlement information, pathway planning for further study and work access to computers and document translation. Navitas English settlement programs Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) Personal Helpers and Mentors Program (PHAM) Supports people whose lives are severely affected by a severe mental illness. The program focuses on strengths emphasising what people with mental illness can do, rather than what they can't do. Newleaf Communities is a consortium of five companies who were chosen by Housing NSW to manage different aspects of the Bonnyrigg development. This includes community consultation and involvement with youth. NSW SLASA is a community organisation that acts on behalf of the various Spanish and Latin-American communities in NSW. One of NSW SLASA s objectives is to assist immigrants and refugees when settling in Australia. The three principal activities that NSW SLASA focuses on are: Individual work Community Development Work Spanish speaking community liaison and representation with other ethnic communities and government departments. Open Family Links to Learning Program Program for young people who have left school and not completed year 12. Supported by Wetherill Park TAFE component. 6
7 Also provide Street Work Program for young people Provides support for drug addiction, alcohol problems, education, accommodation, employment, leisure and health. Parks Community Network Prairiewood Community Centre Rosemount Good Shepherd Salvation Army Youth Link Share Care Heckenberg Links to Learning Program Support for students at risk of leaving school early. Focus on life skills, literacy etc. Must be referred by school. DEC only. Students meet once per week at Youth Community Centre and are from Prairiewood High School, St Johns Park High School, and Bonnyrigg High School. Drop in Centre and School Holiday Program Support service for young people and their families to re-engage or find further opportunities to be involved with the community. Provide referral services and casework support where necessary. Café Horizons The program provides accredited vocational training for young people in a café environment, as well as vocational and other support for young people. 20 week program to obtain Certificate II in Hospitality Operations. Outdoor motivational program for young people. Early intervention service to prevent youth homelessness. Family intervention/counselling service. Life skills program focus on self esteem and gaining life skill. Referred by school counsellor. Provides temporary respite to families with a child or young person with a disability in the Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown Local Government Areas. Intensive intervention strategies for young children, young adolescents and young adults who have a recognised disability including: sensory, physical, intellectual and behavioural. After school care, teen time and holiday programs are also delivered. NSW Service for the treatment and rehabilitation of torture and trauma survivors (STARTTS) St Marks Anglican Church Sadlier Marion David South Western Sydney Local Health District STARTTS provides a broad range of services for children and young people. They employ specialist youth workers and child and adolescent counsellors to work with this age group. They also work closely with others that are important to children such as parents, schools and youth services. ESL Classes 18 years and over English classes, focus on refugees. Classes available (during school terms) Evening classes Early Psychosis Intervention Program (EPIP) Multidisciplinary mental health service for yr olds diagnosed with recovering from psychosis. Assertive case management, medical assessment & treatment; liaison with other agencies including schools. 7
8 Infant Child Adolescent Mental Health (ICAMHS) Provides support for 12 to 24 year olds. Issues being covered include mental health, drugs and alcohol use, sexual and reproductive health, self harm and injury, nutrition, oral health and disabilities. Liverpool-Fairfield CAMHS The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service provides assessment and intervention for young people and their families who have complex or moderate to severe mental health problems. This is done in collaboration with other government and non-government organisations. CAMHS also provides education on mental health issues to professionals and clinicians who work with young people Ted Noffs Foundation Liverpool The Smith Family Sarah Singh Held at Public School The Spastic Centre NSW Prairiewood UnitingCare The Hub Community Health Centre Provides health and welfare information and referrals, counselling and casework as well as recreational and lifestyle programs. Agencies such as Centrelink and the Australian Taxation Office offer outreach services. Street University Supports young people who are homeless, using drugs, involved with crime or just need general support. Short courses and group sessions are available. Learning for Life Program is a youth project in / Greenvalley and surrounding areas. 300 students receive financial support and/or participate in literacy programs. A Transition to Work program is also available which connects young people to employment. Employment assistance through the Open Employment Program (OEP). Support to job seekers with physical, intellectual and multiple disabilities, enabling them to find and maintain employment. Strong concern for social justice through advocacy and addressing the needs of young people and families who are disadvantaged. A range of services are available including case management and referral services. UnitingCare Burnside Works with young people and families in programs for early intervention and wellbeing, child protection and out-of-home care. Vietnamese Community in Australia Links to Learning Program Assist young Vietnamese people between the ages of 15 and 24 who experience significant difficulties participating in formal learning environments to access, remain in or return to education and or training.
