Any KYLSC registered club or KYLSC-USA SWIMMING athlete member (in good standing) may participate provided the athlete member(s) meets the event eligibility requirement for the given meet. Fly over starts may be used. FACILITY An eight lane, 25 yard indoor pool with Colorado System 5 Sports Timer, Infinity Start System, AquaGrip Touchpads, and an eight line scoreboard. Two hundred permanent seats are available inside the competition pool area for spectators and a gym floor will be covered and available for camping out by the swimmers and spectators across the hall. The depth of the pool at the start end is 12 deep, and the depth of the pool at the turn end is 4 deep. The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming. Ample parking is available at the front entrance to the building. FACILITY NOTES FALLING SPRINGS RECREATIONAL CENTER GUIDELINES Falling Springs Recreation Center is an excellent Championship Aquatic Center. The complex is well maintained and the following rules will be strictly enforced: 1. The two uncovered gym floors, aerobics & fitness center, track, and theater are off limits. Swimmers and spectators are not permitted into these areas. 2. No horseplay will be tolerated. Included are shooting baskets or tossing objects while on the covered gym floor. 3. Food is permitted in the food court (by the concession stand), on the covered gym

floor, and in the coaches and officials hospitality room only. Beverages will be allowed in the pool area but must be in a sealed, spill-proof plastic container. No glass containers are permitted inside the building. 4. USA Swimming and the Versailles-Woodford Co. Parks and Recreation Department prohibit smoking and alcohol. 5. All trash must be deposited in appropriate containers. 6. Signs or banners must be hung by masking tape or string only. 7. Radios, noisemakers, or anything else that might cause inconvenience to swimmers, coaches, officials, workers, or spectators are prohibited in the pool area. Flash photography is prohibited during the start of heats. 8. The operation of cell phones or walkie-talkies are prohibited inside the recreation center. Their operation interferes with the communication devices utilized by the meet officials. 9. Spectators are not allowed to bring chairs (folding or other types) into the pool area. However, portable chairs may be used on the covered gym floor. Lost and found is located at the reception desk at the entrance to Falling Springs. All items turned into lost and found will be held for 30 days. Any and all items unclaimed after that 30 day period will be disposed of or given to charity. The Falling Springs Arts and Recreation Center, Versailles-Woodford Co. Parks and Recreation Dept., and Bluegrass Swim Team are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designate areas is not appropriate and is prohibited SAFETY GUIDELINES 1. Coaches shall instruct their swimmers regarding safety guidelines and warm-up procedures. 2. Coaches shall stand near the starting end of the pool when starting swimmers on sprint and pace work. 3. Coaches shall actively supervise their swimmers throughout the warm-up session. 4. Appointed safety marshals have the authority to remove from the deck for the remainder of the warm-up session, any swimmer or coach who is in violation of safety guidelines or warm-up procedures. THE MEET REFEREE MAY EXERCISE ADDITIONAL ADJUDICATION AUTHORITY AS NECESSARY. 5. Swimmers shall not jump or dive into the pool to stop another swimmer on a recalled start. 6. Swimmers are required to exit the pool upon completion of their warm-up to allow other swimmers adequate warm-up time. The pool is not for visiting or playing during warm-up periods. 7. Warm-up procedures shall be enforced for any breaks, scheduled or otherwise, during the competition ADMISSION & HEAT SHEETS HOSPITALITY COACHES MEETINGS OFFICIALS MEETING There will be an admission fee for all competitions on Sunday. Heat sheets will be available. Hospitality will be offered for coaches and officials during the meet. A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on the first day of the meet, 15 minutes prior to the start of competition. There will be Officials meetings 1 hour prior to the start of the meet.

SCORING AND AWARDS SCORING There will be no team scoring for 8 & Under events. Scoring will be done for individual events for high point presentation. Scoring will be as follows: 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (Top 8) AWARDS For 8 & Under, 7-8 and 6 & Under Events Ribbons will be given for the Top 8 finishers in each event. Events will be swam together but awarded by Top 8 as 6 year-old, 7 year-old, and 8 year-old. High Point Trophies will be given out to the Top 8 year-old, Top 7 year-old, and Top 6 year-old. The Top 5 highest scores will be used to determine high point winner. WARM-UPS AND SCHEDULE ASSIGNMENTS COOL-DOWN Teams will be assigned to lanes based on the number of entered swimmers. Smaller teams will need to share lanes. Larger teams should be prepared to divide the warm-up time and space according to need. Team warm-up assignments will be posted prior to warm-up, each day. Split warm-up sessions will be scheduled if more than 15 swimmers per lane would exist otherwise. Cool-down lanes will be provided during all sessions. RULES UNSUPERVISED ATHLETES SWIMMERS WITH A DISABILITY ELIGIBILITY The meet will be conducted in accordance with the current USA Swimming Rules and Regulations, and Kentucky Swimming Policy and Rule Handbook, except where rules therein are optional and exceptions are stated herein. FINA starting procedures will be used. The FINA system, approved by USA Swimming, uses a series of whistles followed by a onewhistle announcement for swimmers. The No Recall Start Rule will also be enforced during this meet. The 2014 Official USA Swimming rules will govern all competition. USA Swimming athlete members must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. Swimmers participating under the provisions of 202.6 or USA Swimming s open border policy must be under the supervision of their coach or a USA Swimming member coach. Coaches who are entering swimmers but will not be at the meet should arrange ahead of time for another coach to supervise their athletes. Swimmers unaccompanied by their coaches or for whom arrangements have not been made must contact the Meet Director or Meet Referee who will assist the athlete in finding coach supervision Entries for swimmers with a disability should be handled in the following manner: (1) enter the swimmer in the Hy-Tek database (or on the regular entry form); (2) list in the email accompanying the Hy-Tek entry file (or on a separate sheet of paper) the name of the swimmer, the stroke(s)/distance(s) s/he wishes to swim, the entry times, the day/session s/he wishes to swim the event(s), and the manner in which s/he prefers to be seeded (with a longer distance or with a different age group); and (3) provide any information about special accommodations needed by the swimmer. The final determination of seeding will be made by the Meet Referee after consultation with the swimmer and his/her coach. AGE AT MEET RACING START CERTIFICATION TIME STANDARDS The age of the athlete on shall be used to determine event eligibility for this meet. Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Participation in the 100 free and 100 IM are restricted to those swimmers who have met or swam faster than: 1. the SCY standard for the event OR, 2. the SCM standard for the event OR, 3. the LCM standard for the event during the Qualifying Period. ENTRIES ENTRIES Entries must be submitted electronically (Hy-Tek or SDIF) to the Entry Chair by February 24, 2014. Handwritten, telephoned, or faxed entries WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. If the USA ID for any swimmer is omitted, that swimmer s entries WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. All swimmers USA Swimming Registration will be checked against Kentucky Swimming Inc. s database of registered athletes. A hard copy listing of team entries, signed Waiver Form, and a check for all entry fees, must be mailed to Laura Kehrt and postmarked no later than WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2014. Check should be made payable to: Bluegrass Marlins. To facilitate the running of the meet, coaches are encouraged to include relay names on their electronic entries, but still have the right to make changes up to the start of the race. ENTRY FEES and SURCHARGES 8 & Under, 7-8, and 6 & Under Events $5.00 for each individual event $10.00 for each relay event $6 athlete surcharge There will be no refund of entry fees. ENTRY LIMITS DECK ENTRIES 8 & Under, 7-8, and 6 & Under Events Each swimmer may enter up to 5 eligible Individual Events and 2 Relays. Teams will NOT be limited to the number of relays per relay event. Deck entries will be accepted as long as they do not require a new heat. Deck entry fees are $8 for individual events and $12 for relays. SEEDING RELAY CARDS The meet will be seeded from slowest to fastest in all events. Relay cards will be distributed in each team s meet packet. Each relay team is responsible for delivering their completed relay card to the Scorer s Table at a time to be announced prior to the start of the heat. At that time the relay card must clearly indicate, in the appropriate order, the four swimmers who will compete. Failure to do so will result in the relay being disqualified. To facilitate the running of the meet, coaches are encouraged to include relay names on their electronic entries, but still have the right to make changes up to the start of the race. CLERK OF COURSE There will be a Clerk of Course for all 8 & Under, 7 8, and 6 & Under Events. Each team must have volunteers in charge of gathering their swimmers and delivering them to the Clerk of Course. POSTINGS Entries will be posted on Bluegrass Marlins s website.

TIMED FINAL COMPETITION TIMERS Competing teams may need to supply lane timers. The number of timers per team will be assigned proportionately based on the number of swimmers in a session.
