Hard to believe the summer is half over already. The weather has been very interesting to say the least. Canada day went well. Fireworks were a blast. We just got them all done in time for the rain. Thank you to Al, Troy, James, Matt and all the security staff for making it a success. August 13 brings our annual Evergreen Community Garage sale. A map with pre-registered houses is located inside the back cover so you can tear it off. A colour map is available on our website at www.eeca.ca under newsletters. Our annual EECA Block Party takes place this year on Community League Day on September 17th. This is the perfect place to get your memberships renewed as they expire August 31st. If you need one before September 17th, please email memberships@eeca.ca. Volunteers would be great so if you can volunteer, please email Troy at president@eeca.ca September also welcomes back our fall activities such as crib and darts. Watch the September Evergreen News for more details on exact dates. A reminder that all EECA members are able to go swimming for free on Saturdays from 6pm-8pm at the Clareview Recreation Center. Greetings fellow gardeners! Are you harvesting some vegetables? Stopping to smell the roses? The summer is half over so make the most of what remains. Enjoy the fruits of your labour and soak up the warm evenings. A few pots of citronella plants in your backyard can help keep those pesky mosquitos away too. Our last meeting was a general meeting as our trip to the Crop Diversification Centre had to be rescheduled. Members shared tips on bugs, seedlings, annuals and perennials over tea, coffee and refreshments. Our next meeting will be August 15th at 6:30 pm at the hall. A speaker from the Horticultural Society will be hosting a presentation on Gardening in Small Spaces. Bring your questions and ideas! Thank you to Glennis and the Executive of the club for hosting and putting on a fantastic Garden Club BBQ in July. "Did I draw the moon right?". The food was delicious and the games a lot of fun. Do you have a yard worthy of awards, or do you baby a couple tomato plants on your deck? If you love growing things, the Evergreen Garden Club is the place for you. Join our vibrant group for trips, crafts and speakers related to green thumbery. Email us at evergreengreenthumbs@gmail.com for more information or drop by one of our meetings at the hall. Everyone welcome! Join the club, share a few laughs, make new friends and go home feeling good! Evergreen Classifieds To have your ad appear in our newsletter, email to secretary@eeca.ca before 20th of each month.
