Camp Socrates - Stratford s Preschool Summer Program Crestmoor Canyon Weekly themes will come to life each day as junior campers learn, explore, and engage in imaginative camp-style activities in science, engineering, physical education, literature, art, and music! We will share a weekly newsletter informing you of the exciting activities planned for the upcoming week. Please refer to the Parent Board in your child s classroom for the daily schedule. The First Day of Camp Monday, June 22 (Full Day 3 or 5 Days, 3 Day Half-Day and 5 Day Half-Day Students) and Tuesday, June 23 (2 Day Full or Half-Day Students) Class lists, as well as signs, will be posted around campus to direct you to your child s classroom. Your child s teacher will be anxiously awaiting your arrival beginning at 8:15 a.m. There will be a brief parent orientation in the auditorium beginning at 8:45 a.m. to acquaint you with the many features of our exceptional Camp Socrates program. Arrival/ Departure Procedures: You are required to walk your child to class and sign them in and out each day using our secure Kinderlime electronic system. If your child attended the Crestmoor Canyon campus during the 2014/2015 school year, you will continue to use the unique pin codes that have been assigned to you and to the adults you have authorized to frequently pick up your child. For students new to Stratford and those students who attended the 2014/2015 school year at another Stratford campus, we will email unique pin codes for parents during the week prior to the start of Camp. If you require additional pin codes for other adults who frequently pick up your child, please ensure their names are listed on your child s emergency form and email your request to ccsb@stratfordschools.com. We will then email you their unique pin codes. During our parent orientation on the first day of camp, we will review the features of the Kinderlime system. Please contact the school office should you have any questions related to our sign in and out procedures. Children are only released to parents and other authorized individuals listed on the emergency form. Please have appropriate identification with you at all times. Parking will be very limited so please plan accordingly. Please carefully read the Parking Lot section later in this letter and follow all instructions listed. Morning Preschool/Pre-K Arrive: 8:15-8:30 Depart: 11:15-11:30 Full Day Preschool/Pre-K Arrive: 8:15-8:45 Depart: 3:30-3:45 Extended Care begins at 3:45 p.m. Students who are not registered for afternoon extended care will be brought to the office for late pick up. Late pick up fees are due when you arrive. Parking Lot Please drive slowly and cautiously, and remember to only use designated crosswalks to create a safe environment for all. Thank you for your help! Nut Free Preschool and Pre-kindergarten Our preschool and pre-kindergarten classrooms are nut free. We have children who are highly allergic to nuts and tree nuts. In order to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible, we ask that you be mindful of these allergies and pack lunches and snacks in compliance with our nut free policy.

Preschool Comfort Kits We ask that each student bring a comfort kit on the first day of Camp Socrates in case of an emergency. The following items should be placed in a freezer-size Ziploc bag, labeled with your child s name: one small bottled water; one small juice box (single serving); one protein bar (high energy food nut free); one family photo; one 5 X 7 card with name of parents, address, home number, work number, cell phone number, and email address; one space blanket; and one small flashlight with new batteries. The comfort kits will be returned to the students the last day of the program. Nap Time For students attending our full day program, we will need you to bring a fitted crib sheet, blanket, and small pillow for their nap. Please be sure they are labeled with your child s name. Each Friday, bedding is to be brought home from camp to be cleaned and then returned on Monday. Dress for Summer We request that your child dress in comfortable clothes that you don t mind getting dirty, as we have many fun, messy projects planned. The children will be participating in outdoor activities each day, so they should wear comfortable sneakers (please, no sandals). Please prepare an extra change of clothing which should include pants/shorts, top, socks, and undergarments. Put the clothing in a zip-lock bag with your child s name written on the outside of the bag. This extra change of clothing will remain in the classroom throughout Camp Socrates and will be used as necessary. Please be sure all clothing is labeled with your child s name.

Camp Socrates - Stratford s Elementary Summer Program Crestmoor Canyon Each day begins with an energizing camp gathering with songs, games, and team building activities! Morning sessions will engage the mind with creative and interactive reading, math and writing activities that promote critical thinking skills. Afternoon sessions are packed with adventures in art, music, and hands-on science activities, plus a wide array of team sports and games. Please refer to the Parent Board in your child s classroom for the daily schedule. The First Day of Camp Monday, June 22 Class lists, as well as signs, will be posted around campus to direct you to your child s classroom. Your child s teacher will be anxiously awaiting your arrival beginning at 8:00 a.m. There will be a brief parent orientation in the auditorium beginning at 8:15 a.m. to acquaint you with the many features of our exceptional Camp Socrates program. Parking will be very limited so please plan accordingly. We appreciate your cooperation. Arrival Procedures On the first day of school, Monday, June 22, please pull up along the curb where you see the orange cones. The teachers and I will unload elementary students from the cars and escort them to the auditorium. You may then pull into a parking space, if you plan to attend our brief orientation meeting. Arrival starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 8:15 a.m. Departure Procedures Departure for half-day elementary students is between 11:15 and 11:30 a.m., and students are to be picked up from their classrooms. For all full day student departures, please pull up to the front of the school along the orange cones and wait in your vehicle. The teachers and I will escort the students outside and assist them into the vehicles between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. Please do not park your car in front of the school and leave your vehicle there, as we must keep traffic flowing during departure times. Please drive slowly and cautiously, and remember to only use designated crosswalks to create a safe environment for all. When picking up your child, you will be asked to show identification or the Stratford visor card given to you during parent orientation, so please be sure to have it with you at all times. Extended care begins at 3:30 p.m. Students who are not registered for afternoon extended care will be brought to the office for late pick up. Late pick up fees are due when you arrive. Parking Lot Please drive slowly and cautiously, and remember to only use designated crosswalks to create a safe environment for all. Thank you for your help as we strive to be great neighbors! Elementary Comfort Kits We ask that each student bring a comfort kit on the first day of Camp Socrates in case of an emergency. The following items should be placed in a freezer-size Ziploc bag, labeled with your child s name: one small bottled water; one small juice box (single serving); one protein bar (high energy food); one family photo; one 5 X 7 card with name of parents, address, home number, work number, cell phone number, and email address; one space blanket or large plastic garbage bag; and one small flashlight with new batteries. The comfort kits will be returned to the students the last day of the program.

Nut Free All elementary classrooms are nut free. We have children who are highly allergic to nuts and tree nuts. In order to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible, we ask that you be mindful of these allergies and pack lunches and snacks in compliance with our nut free policy. Elementary Extracurricular Clubs Information regarding elementary extracurricular clubs will be sent home during the first week of camp. Forms may also be obtained in the school office once camp has started. School Uniforms Are Not Required for Summer This is just a reminder that children do not wear uniforms during Camp Socrates. As they will be participating in outdoor activities, children should, however, wear comfortable sneakers.
