The students are excited about the Halloween activities around the school. We will have a costume assembly on Monday afternoon 12:45-1:20 pm. Please have your child dressed in costume when they come to school. Students can wear black or orange in lieu of a costume. Costumes need to adhere to the District and school standards. There is to be no fake or real weapons of any kind. Costumes should not be excessively scary (ie. Blood flowing masks). Thank you again for your support. The staff values your participation at school events and appreciates all you do to make a positive difference in WE Kinvig student lives. Jas Atwal Clothes on Wheels-Nov. 1 st Clothes on Wheels will be here on November 1 st from 1:30 pm- 3:30 pm. Clothing items will be available for children and adults. The PAC will provide some refreshments to the attendees. We ask parents to check in at the registration table in the gym. Picture Retakes Nov. 7 th Individual Picture Retakes will take place on Monday, November 7. Now that you have received your proof pages, you can decide whether to put your order in for the original pictures or whether you need retakes done. The photo company used green screens and you will have an option of choosing what background you prefer for your first picture as well as the retake.
W.E. Kinvig Newsletter News Page 2 of 5 PAC Meeting-Nov. 3 rd The PAC will be holding its second meeting of the year on November 3 rd. This meeting is open to everyone who wants to attend. The PAC will discuss the different events they have planned this year. Babysitting will be available. Please come and join us on Thursday, November 3 rd at 7 pm in the Multipurpose Room. Halloween Safety Tips Traffic and Safety During pick up and drop off times, we worry about the student safety. Please do not drive in and park in the staff parking lot. Please drive slowly to help keep our students safe. We ask that you use the crosswalk to cross the street. The Crossing Guards and Mr. Sommer are now on patrol and are helping to make sure students cross safely. Thank you for following the slow down and stop procedures at the cross walk. 1. Be creative, wear make up instead of a mask. 2. Be sure your child s costume is flameproof. 3. Wear light clothing that is easy to see at night. 4. Carry a flashlight, so you can see in areas where there might not be much light. 5. Go with friends or your brothers and/or sisters and preferably one parent should accompany each group of children. 6. Walk on the same side of the street instead of criss-crossing the street. 7. Children should be instructed to cross only at intersections. 8. Children should trick or treat in well-known areas only. 9. Never go into a strange house or apartment. 10. Children should avoid stray animals. 11. Know where the Block Parent homes are in your area in case you are frightened, or hurt. 12. Have your parents check your treats before you eat them. This year, we are again allowing costumes to be worn at school on October 31 st. There are strict guidelines that there are to be no weapons of any sort that are allowed even if they are fake (guns, knives, swords, etc.). In addition, masks with flowing blood or with high amounts of blood will not be allowed. Costumes must not be revealing either. Students that do not meet the criteria will be asked to change. If you do not wish to wear a costume, you can also wear orange and black. Costume Guidelines
