PRO SEASON PROGRAMME TORROX, MÁLAGA, SOUTHERN SPAIN Pro:Direct Soccer Academy Spain, in association with Pro:Direct Sport Ltd run a full-time Pro Season Programme for players aged 16-22 based in the Málaga province of Spain. The programme aims to give players an unrivalled experience and insight of the life being a professional footballer combined with the showcase and opportunity to play against some of not only La Liga s biggest clubs but some of the biggest clubs in world football! Overview The Pro:Direct Academy Spain Pro Season Programme gives a player more than just football coaching. It is the opportunity to be fully submerged in the experience of a professional player for a full 9 month season, from a top level football training program with UEFA PRO License coaches and current professional players, to playing selected weekly games against La Liga and Liga Adelante clubs. This season long programme offers the ultimate experience and insight of being a footballer for young players from all over the world. We are looking for players, ideally between the age of 16 and 22, who wish to spend one to two years of their development in Spain, the home of current UEFA Europa League and Champions league Champions, where they will be situated in the Academy player residence in the beautiful area of Nerja/Torrox, Malaga on the South coast of Spain. It is here in the Costa del Sol where players will train daily on a seven day full time rota as you would at a professional club. The Academy philosophy supports the need for a seven day programme to truly have the opportunity to develop to the levels required to reach the professional game in Europe. George Jermy, Coaching Director (Spain) Pro:Direct Soccer Academy Coaching Director (Spain), George Jermy played for over 10 years as a pro including 250+ senior appearances spanning across England, Spain and Australia. He returned to Spain to establish a full-time elite academy programme for 16-22 year old players. George played for 8 years at Norwich City FC Academy and went on to spells at AFC Bournemouth, CD Javea and Villarreal CF and is still a current player at Spanish club Xerez Deportivo FC. George oversees the day to day running of the Academy combining it with his playing commitments. His primary role is planning the season syllabus and weekly micro-cycle for the coaching team to follow and implement his football philosophy into all coaching sessions. Being actively involved as a player, George uses this to build contacts, fixtures and trials for the Academy playing squad.
TALENT IS GROWN, NOT BORN. PRODUCING TECHNICALLY AND TACTICALLY ASTUTE PLAYERS On average our players are active 6 days every week with one day free, as anything less would not give us time to carry out our training sessions. Players benefit from technical and tactical football sessions, personalized gym sessions with individual Strength & Condition coaching, pool recovery, yoga, pre-game visualization and relaxation, video analysis, personal feedback reviews. Also included are guest seminars from professional players and most importantly our weekly fixtures (40 games per season) against some of the biggest clubs in the world game! Pro:Direct will design for each player a team and individual programme where they are trained in the environment expected by any modern day professional footballer. Every year since our inaugural 2014 season we have been pleased to take our squads to play against Malaga CF, Granada CF, Cordoba CF, Almeria, Cadiz, Recreativo Huelva, Sevilla FC, Athletico Madrid, Real Betis, Valencia CF, Villarreal CF, Alcorcon, Leganes and Getafe. Opportunities and exit routes are offered within the Academy, from progressions to trial for clubs here in Spain, the UK and across Europe, as well as scholarships in American Universities or a career in the sports industry. Of course, the benefits of having our huge parent Academy: Pro:Direct Soccer Academy UK, who work with an incredible 40,000 young players every week means that there is always a need for new upcoming coaches. Our programme is aimed to develop young people as a footballer and as a person, whether it be to advance their knowledge and understanding as a player on the pitch, or be the first step to becoming a future coach or manager. Away from the pitch, being based in Spain, is a fantastic cultural experience and opportunity to learn one of the world s most important languages. Adrian Dominguez, Head Coach (Spain) The Academy is very fortunate to have Adrian Dominguez as Head Coach with Adrian being the youngest ever UEFA Pro License coach in the Andalucia. Despite being still relatively young as a coach, he has already held very important roles within the Professional game in Spain, being the assistant coach at CD Nerja and more recently in 2014/15 season at Martos CD where he was involved in guiding the club to their best ever finish in the Spanish 3rd Division before losing in the promotion play off semi-final to reach the Segunda division. Alongside his UEFA Pro License Adrian has studied sports and fitness science for 6 years at university and now holds a Master s Degree to add to his extensive knowledge and senior professional club experience.
Facilities Here at the Academy a strong emphasis is put into providing first class facilities, at the end of the day you need to be training in a professional environment or how can you develop into a professional player. Training is held on either a FIFA graded natural grass surface stadium venue in Nerja for our home games which also hosted Spain Under 19s vs Germany during the 2014/15 season, or our new synthetic 3G training pitch located in Torrox, the home stadium of a local 5th Division club. As well as top class training pitches for technical sessions, the Academy has its own exclusive fully equipped gym, access to a swimming pool with Sauna and Jacuzzi for recovery, ice baths and an indoor futsal pitch for any unlikely adverse weather conditions where training can remain uninterrupted. Apart from the team facilities, every player is individually equipped with GPS monitors to track players physical output in all games and training, creating heat maps for performance analytics. Physio Training at this intensity can increase risk of players picking up unwanted injuries and strains, so to accommodate this the Academy has a full-time Physio who is involved in educating the players as to how they need to control their training load and recovery between sessions. Physio provision is provided pitch side at all training and games. Study Alongside the importance of having everything in place to build a player to perform on the pitch, we also take into consideration the player s social and psychological wellbeing off the pitch. To try and provide the best for our players 24 hour wellbeing we have a social area with books available to borrow, PlayStation 4s which are regularly used for FIFA tournaments as well as a quiet study area which is available for our players who continue to carry on studies via distance learning from their own country and the homework set from the Academy s daily Spanish classes.
Lifestyle Torrox, Southern Spain, is the home to our Academy headquarters. Situated in the Malaga province, Torrox is considered a gem of the region and receives some of the best weather not only in Spain but Europe with the year round temperate climate making conditions ideal for training even during winter months. The town s slogan is Mejor Clima de Europa, which translates to Best Climate in Europe, temperatures consistently staying above 20 degrees the whole Autumn and well into the winter. Just a short journey away is Nerja a seaside town that boasts some of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol and has hundreds of restaurants and local attractions that bring thousands of tourists to the town each year. Our players live in our Academy residence based in the heart of the cultural Torrox old town. A quiet and calm area that allows players to rest and disconnect following training days. On-site we have Academy staff available 24/7 to assist players in any matter. The residence houses our exclusive Academy Gym facilities and there is also a mini-market where players can buy snacks or anything they need in between meal times. All players will be roomed in twin rooms with a team mate for the duration of their stay here in Spain. Torrox is located just 40km east of Malaga, the capital of the province and under an hour s journey from some of the most exclusive resorts in the world, the likes of Marbella, Puerto Banus and Estepona are all on your doorstep. After the Summer months have passed there is a fantastic opportunity to head inland where you can visit the snow and have a day at the Ski Resorts of the Sierra Nevada in Granada. Enrique Paez, Head of Strength & Conditioning/Assistant Head Coach (Spain) Enrique is now entering his third season at Pro:Direct Academy and works very closely with Adrian running the Elite Academy squad. A fantastic coach who hails from South America, he developed as a player and coach through the famous IMG academy (US) and American University system at the University of Akron. It was here where Enrique won a National Championship as a player, winning the NCAA title in 2010. Along side this incredible accolade Enrique also achieved his Master s Degree in Education, Sports Science and Coaching Psychology and found his passion for becoming a Coach. A stop-start experience in pro football with an unfortunate run of injuries prompted him to take on his real passion for coaching and he has now coached players in Mexico, US, New Zealand and Spain. He currently holds his USSF A License and will be looking to progress onto his UEFA Pro License in due course.
