Blind fitting & position Fitting the blind inside or outside the window recess Fitting your blind inside the window recess Firstly decide whether to face fix or top fix your blind. We recommend you top fix your blind within the recess if: you have upvc window frames there are obstructions like handles We recommend you face fix your blind if: you want to fit the brackets directly to the window frame When deciding on the position the brackets, make sure that you allow enough space for the bottom bar of the blind to clear window handles while the blind is travelling down. Fitting your blind outside the window recess Follow the measurement steps below to ensure that centre of your roller blind is exactly in the middle of your window: The measurements at either end of the recess (C) need to be the same. To work out C: 1) Measure the width of the window (measurement B). Write down the measurement. 2) Measure the width of the blind (measurement A). Write down the measurement. 3) Take measurement B away from measurement A and divide the answer by 2 to get measurement C. C A B C 4

Standard roller blind installation p weredblinds STEP 1 Marking the bracket positions Put the blind into the corresponding ends of the brackets as illustrated, then offer the blind into the position where you d like to fix it in your window. Mark the positions of 2 holes per bracket for fixing or drilling. Important note: Ensure that the plunger at the idle end (opposite the motor end) is depressed by at least 5mm when marking the hole positions. Also leave enough room to mount the battery/solar pack if you plan to secure it behind the blind. N.B: Bracket covers are only supplied with blinds fitted outside the window recess. Powered roller blind system Top fix orientation Face fix orientation Bracket cover Motor head STEP 2 Fitting the brackets Secure the brackets in place at the marks previously made. If securing the brackets to plaster, brick, stone, etc., drill the holes at the marked positions using a 5.5mm masonry drill bit and insert the raw plugs supplied. Fix the brackets in place using the screws supplied. Important note: The pin end plunger must be depressed by 5mm, otherwise it will lock in place and refuse to rotate STEP 3 Mounting the roller blind Before mounting the blind, we recommend you install the battery or solar pack - see next section for guidance. Hold the blind to the brackets with the fabric hanging from the back of the blind and the motor head aerial hanging vertically down (pointing towards the floor). Secure the idle end (opposite the motor end) into position by locating the + shaped plunger into the + shaped part of the bracket. When correctly aligned, the plunger should pop into the bracket and secure in place. Now angle the motor head side into position and slot the prongs of the motor head plate into the bracket, ensuring that the central prong drops into position on the bracket. 5

Cassette roller blind installation - top fix Top fix spring clip bracket The top fix spring clip bracket is designed to allow quick fit and release of your cassette blind. Once the brackets are fitted, the cassette system simply clips in place. Before fitting the cassette blind, we recommend you install the battery or solar pack - see page x for guidance. Lip Top fix bracket STEP 1 STEP 2 Spacing Fixing positions Mark the brackets approx 50mm in from each end with other brackets spaced evenly between them. Position your bracket from the centre of the fixing hole a minimum distance of 45mm from the back of any obstruction and with the lip to the back. Mark the position of the hole, then secure in place. If securing the brackets to plaster, brick, stone, etc., drill the holes at the marked positions using a 5.5mm masonry drill bit, then use the raw plugs and screws supplied to fix the brackets. 6 Fitting Removing Place the front lip of your cassette into the front hook of the bracket and push upwards into the bracket until there is a firm click. To remove the blind, push the lip of the bracket at the back of the cassette upwards using the head of a screwdriver, then pull the rear of the cassette downwards.

Cassette roller blind installation - face fix p weredblinds Universal bracket The universal bracket is designed to allow quick fit and release of your cassette blind. Once the brackets are fitted, the cassette system simply clips in place. Before fitting the cassette blind, we recommend you install the battery or solar pack - see page x for guidance. Universal bracket STEP 1 STEP 2 Spacing Fixing positions Mark the brackets approx 50mm in from each end with other brackets spaced evenly between them. Position the back of your bracket against the wall to the height of the blind drop then mark the position of the holes (mark and fix a minimum of two hole points), then secure the brackets in place. If securing the brackets to plaster, brick, stone, etc., drill the holes at the marked positions using a 5.5mm masonry drill bit, then use the raw plugs and screws supplied to fix the brackets. Fitting Removing Tilt your cassette blind back and locate the front lip of the bracket to the front lip of the cassette, then push back and upwards at the same time until there is a firm click. To remove the blind push back on the cassette and pull downwards. 7

Battery pack & solar pack installation Standard or rechargeable battery pack Secure the battery pack clips in place at the same side as the motor position. Inside recess blind mounting: secure the clips directly behind the blind (as illustrated). Outside recess blind mounting: secure the clips above & behind the blind (as illustrated). Once the clips are in place, mount the battery pack ensuring that the supply cable is routed towards the blind motor position. Battery clip mounting on an inside recess fitted blind. Battery clip mounting on an outside recess fitted blind. Solar pack The Solar Pack is designed can only be used with motorised blinds powered by a Somfy WireFree motor. Roller blind with Somfy WireFree Motor Rechargeable Battery Solar Panel Y Cable 8 STEP 1 The location of the solar panel The solar panel must always be installed on the inner window pane to allow as much natural light as possible to reach the panel. Caution! The solar panel will only work on clear window glass that allows full light transmission. Do not install the panel on obscure/tinted glass or windows in areas where obstructions will interfere with light levels. The three components which make up the Solar Pack (solar panel, rechargeable battery pack and Y cable) must be installed on the same side as the blind motor position. We recommend that you fit the battery pack and solar panel first, so that the wire harness connection can be completed easily. Ensure the wire harness does not interfere with the free movement of the blind. Motor Motor Sideside Battery Pack + Solar Panel: Located near the top of the window frame and near the motor side. Installed: When fully open, the blind may help conceal the Solar Pack when viewing the window/blind from the inside.

p weredblinds STEP 2 Mounting the solar battery pack The battery pack can be mounted vertically or horizontally within close proximity to the motor position. Use the mounting clips supplied to secure the battery pack behind the blind. If installing the battery vertically, always position it with the cable output upwards to prevent the unrestrained wire from catching the blind during travel. STEP 3 Mounting the solar panel Determined the position of the solar panel prior to applying the double-sided tape. To ensure a secure adhesive hold, clean the inside window pane surface prior to mounting the solar panel. Ensure nothing contaminates the adhesive surface of the double-sided tape prior to application. 1) Clean the solar panel frame corners and window area with the cleaning wipe supplied and allow a drying period of two minutes. 2) With the solar panel facing up on a flat surface, carefully apply the double-sided adhesive to the four corners of the solar panel frame. 3) Remove the protective strips of the double-sided adhesive and position the solar panel facing towards the outdoors. Press the panel with firm, even pressure onto the glass for 10-15 seconds. The panel will require 24 hours of cure time to allow for full adhesion. Do not disturb the panel during this period. Power up & testing - blind supplied with a control Your roller blind is tested to ensure it is operating correctly prior to dispatch. During this process, the upper and lower stop positions are preset based on your height measurement. We also pair the control ordered to the motor for your convenience. Standard or rechargeable battery pack Once your blind is fixed securely in place, you are ready to connect the battery pack. Take the motor supply cable and connect the long plug into the long socket of the battery pack. Tidy any excess cable away to ensure it does not come into contact with the blind. Solar pack Ensure the Y cable does not come into contact with the blind during travel. 1) Connect the single lead of the Y cable to the motor. 2) Connect the solar panel + battery pack to the opposite ends of the Y cable. WireFree Motor Connector Solar Panel + Battery Pack Connectors Mains power adapter Plug the mains power adapter into your socket outlet and connect the long socket on the trailing lead to the long plug on the motor supply cable. You ordered a control with the blind Follow the instructions below You didn t order a control with the blind Follow the instructions on the next page 10 Test the motorised roller blind operation Press the down button on your control. The blind will travel down for a few seconds, then reverse direction and travel back up to the original starting position. This Down/Up movement occurs when the blind is operated after a battery pack is plugged back into the motor to provide visual feedback that power has been restored to the blind. Use your control to confirm that the up/down directions are correct and the blind automatically stops at the preset upper and lower stop positions.
