About the Divisions Dear Division Member Let me be the first to welcome you to the first-ever combined Division Midyear Meeting! We are thrilled you decided to join us at the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas. We are excited to host this event in a city with a proud history of change, activism, and business. For many years, the long-standing purpose of Divisions was to allow safety-focused information sharing and networking with others in your industry. It is our hope that this first Annual Midyear Meeting will enable you to further enhance your safety skills, share ideas and goals for the future, meet and network with those within your industry and those with whom you share an interest. The Midyear Meeting will showcase the activities of nine Divisions and the agenda will include a wide array of meetings, technical sessions, tours, and fun social events. We look forward to hearing from Lt. General Russel L. Honoré, our keynote speaker, as he discusses leadership and team building in new ways. I also invite you to take part in our First Annual Women s Caucus Luncheon honoring women who have made historical strides in the safety industry. All attendees are invited to arrive early to network and have fun on this breathtaking natural Austin golf course. Monday, March 21 Opening Session KEYNOTE SPEAKER Lt. General Russel L. Honoré LT. General Russel L. Honoré, US Army (Ret), was widely hailed as the Category 5 General who led Task Force Katrina in the aftermath of the devastating hurricanes that struck the Gulf Coast in the summer of 2005. General Honoré is currently a Senior Scientist with The Gallup Organization, on emergency preparedness evaluations and is a CNN Emergency Preparedness Contributor. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, General Honoré is also leading a task force to address a myriad of environmental concerns in Louisiana. Drawing from 37 years of military experience, General Honoré brings his bold, no-nonsense leadership approach to businesses and organizations to help them better identify and prepare for the challenges of the future. With an emphasis on the importance of innovation, risk assessment and social entrepreneurship, he provides valuable insight and strategies for the public and private sector to solve a broad array of issues - from jobs and energy to healthcare and technology. He also reveals leadership tactics that optimize efficiency and effectiveness of operations for all sectors and outlines the importance of developing the next generation of problem-solvers.
