Introduction to product road maps Purpose Product road maps are designed to support the product adoption planning activities of SAP customers. A product road map helps a customer match short term and long term goals with technology plans. A product road map describes how the feature / function capabilities in an SAP product or technology are planned to progress over time, in general: = changes in the current release version Planned Innovations = changes planned in one or more upcoming development releases (up to 12-18 months). Future Direction = proposed themes for a product or technology beyond the planned releases Complementary resources For a more general description of the business problems / processes being solved and supported by SAP, refer to Solution Road maps. For more detailed technical information please refer to the Product Availability Matrix, Ramp-up Knowledge Transfer materials and product documentation. Customer 7

SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio Future direction Future Direction BEx Web Application and Dashboards Convergence & Migration BEx Web and Dashboards continue to be maintained by SAP, no enforced migration Customers choose time and extent of content migration to Design Studio Most used capabilities of both BEx Web Applications and Dashboards are available in Design Studio (or planned) Combined functionalities of both predecessor products, net new capabilities and use of state-of-the-art technologies make Design Studio a premium alternative Architecture of Design Studio is different from any predecessor product, to overcome architectural limitations from the past. Hence, automatic migration of BEx Web Templates and Dashboards is not possible Platform Deployments SAP will focus investments on the BI Platform deployment, and recommends all customers to deploy Design Studio on the BI Platform NetWeaver and HANA deployments only support a minimal feature scope, and new investments are not planned HANA Connector SAP recommends to use the http-based HANA Connector (introduced in version 1.5) going forward. The former HANA connector will not be extended further and hence will not expose newer HANA features to the front-end. Customer 31 This is the current state of planning and may be changed by SAP at any time.
