Site of the training The training will be held at: I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University Lecture Theatre 104, 28 Solzhenitsyna Street, Moscow 109004 2. Language The training will be held in Russian language. 3. Registration, opening session and closure Registration of participants will take place at the entrance of the meeting room from 8.45 9.00. The training will begin on Monday 24 February 2014 at 9.00 with a welcome session. It is expected that the training will close no later than 16.30 on Saturday 1 March 2014, after the certification ceremony. 4. Documentation and internet access Documentation for the training will be sent to you by e-mail ahead of the training. All lecture theatres at the venue have free high-speed Wi-Fi Internet access. All course participants can access the Internet without passwords or access codes. If you require constant Internet access during your studies, please bring your own laptop. Individual computers will not be provided to course participants. 5. Page 2 Marriott Courtyard Hotel- one of the best hotels in Moscow, located in the heart of the Moscow between Tverskaya and Nikitskaya streets, near the Kremlin, Red Square, Moscow Conservatory named after PI Tchaikovsky, the Old Arbat and Pushkin Square. The hotel was built on the site of an old mansion and has retained its historic facade. Accommodation and breakfast in the hotel are paid for by the organizers. Please settle your bill directly with the hotel for any other charges (laundry, room service, bar bills, telephone calls etc.). The hotel accepts all major kind of credit cards. 6. Travel tickets and subsistence allowance Your travel, by the most direct route economy class, and subsistence costs for this training will be covered by the organizers. For the booking and issuance of your ticket, please contact Ms Anita Strandsbjerg (ast@euro.who.int) at WHO Regional Office for Europe, who will assist you with this. Subsistence allowances are paid directly to your bank account. Ms Anita Strandsbjerg will contact you to verify your bank details. 7. Visa An entry visa to the Russian Federation is not required for the citizens of CIS countries. 8. Arrival and departure We recommend that you arrive in Moscow on the day before the course begins, i.e. on Sunday 23 February, and you will be able to depart on the day the course ends, i.e. Saturday 1 March, after 5:00 pm. Arrival at Moscow airports If you are arriving by air at one of the Moscow airports (Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo), please allow enough time to get to your hotel, taking into consideration the time of your arrival. There are 2 options available: A. Aeroexpress; and B. Taxi. A) Aeroexpress - 3stages: 1) from the airport to the train station: If you land in Sheremetyevo: travel time from the airport to the Belorusskiy Railway Station is 35 minutes and the ticket costs 320 roubles. Page 3 2) from the station to the hotel on the metro: If you have arrived from Sheremetyevo Airport to the Belorusskiy Railway Station, you need to get out of the station building and enter the Belorusskaya Metro Station (follow the signs), then buy a ticket (a single one-way ticket is 40 rubles) and get to the «Tverskaya» Metro Station, then continue on foot or by taxi If you have arrived from Domodedovo Airport to the Paveletskiy Railway Station, you need to get out of the station building and enter the Paveletskaya Metro Station (follow the signs), then buy a ticket (a single one-way ticket is 40 rubles) and get to «Tverskaya» Metro Station, then continue on foot or by taxi If you have arrived from Vnukovo Airport to the Kievsky Railway Station, you need to get out of the station building and enter the Kievskaya Metro Station (follow the signs), then buy a ticket (a single one-way ticket is 40 rubles) and get to «Tverskaya» Metro Station, then continue on foot or by taxi 3) from the «Tverskaya» Metro station to the hotel on foot: Get out of the metro on Tverskaya street, follow it, and then turn right at the Leontievsky lane. Go straight, turn left into Eliseevskiy Lane and then right into the Voznesensky lane and in a few minutes you will see the Anglican Church of St. Andrew, which is located opposite the hotel " Courtyard by Marriott Moscow City Center." Detailed description of the route from the other metro stations to the hotel you can find on the hotel website www.courtyardmoscow.ru B) Taxi You can hire a taxi as from the airport to the hotel as well as from railway station to the hotel. Attention: In the mornings (7:00 am 11:00 am) and evenings (5:00 pm 8:00 pm), there is heavy traffic on the arterial roads in Moscow, so we recommend that you use Aeroexpress, a budget speed train, to avoid lengthy delays due to traffic. The train departs at convenient 30 minute intervals. Please note, when hailing a taxi, we strongly recommend that you use only official taxi companies. You can find out the tariffs on their websites and make a reservation as soon as you arrive in Moscow, or you can reserve a taxi at the airport counter. We recommend the following official taxi companies: Taxi 956, website: taxi956.ru; Komandir Taxi, website: komandir.ru, Gorodskoe Taxi, website: 500-0-500.ru, Novoe Zheltoye Taxi: nyt.ru. The taxi fare depends on the duration of travel and traffic, averaging at least 2000 rubles and lasting anywhere from 1.5 hours. 9. Local transportation Transfer of participants to the course location as well as during outdoor events will be done centrally on a minivan.
Page 4 Please be in the hotel lobby at 8:20 am on the first day of the course. A representative of I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University will be present, holding a sign with the name of the course. 10. Commuting in Moscow For travel in Moscow during your free time, we recommend using the metro. The metro map can be obtained at reception, as well as on the Moscow Metro website: http://mosmetro.ru. If you plan to travel by metro every day, we recommend purchasing a multi-pass ticket (for 10 or 20 trips) which cost 300 and 500 rubles, respectively. 11. Meals Breakfast will be provided by the hotel and is included in the price. A buffet-style coffee break and lunch will be served in the building lobby where the training will take place. Dinner will depend on your preferences (served both in the hotel and the restaurant) and is not included in the price, and so needs to be covered by the participants. If you need help in choosing a restaurant in Moscow, we will be happy to assist. 12. Insurance The organizers of the course shall not be held responsible in the event of illness, adverse events, loss of property, etc. during the course. Please ensure you purchase travel insurance for your period of stay in the Russian Federation. 13. The course venue The course will be conducted at the Department of Public Health, Medical Statistics and Informatics of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, located at: Lecture Theatre 104, 28 Solzhenitsyna Street, Moscow 109004. How to get there on your own: get off at the Marksistskaya Metro Station, exit the glass doors to the left, turn left, cross the road at Taganskaya Street and walk towards the store Zvezdochka, walk around it and then head along Alexander Solzhenitsyn Street for 10 minutes, until you reach a gray double storey mansion. The department building is located in the historical center of Moscow, surrounded by merchant mansions from the late 19th century. In front of the building stands one of the oldest Orthodox churches of 16th century Moscow, the Church of St. Martin the Confessor, which houses priceless Russian Orthodox relics. The next street contains the famous business center Fabrika Stanislavskogo, a building complex surrounded by contemporary landscape design. 14. Climate The weather in Moscow is cold and frosty at the end of February. The temperature is usually -10 degrees Celsius. In case of frosty weather, please bring warm clothes and hats. 15. Dress code A strict dress code is not expected for this training course. Jackets and ties are not required for men.
