12 Months Before... Confirm Your Bridesmaids If you haven t already popped the other question, decide which of your family or friends are most worthy of the title and appoint your bridesmaids. Set The Date Agree on potential dates, it s best to choose a couple in case the venue is already booked on your chosen date. Set Your Budget Although sometimes a little awkward, it s best to have conversations about finances early on. Include family members if you wish, and set a realistic budget. Some couple use a separate bank account to save for their wedding, and remember to make a contingency plan, just in case. Book Your Engagement Party What s better than announcing your happy news with flourish and style? Start looking for the perfect party package to share your good news with friends and family. Plan Guest Numbers Who will you share your special day with? Make a separate guest list for colleagues or friends coming to the evening reception, but not the ceremony or wedding breakfast. Choose Your Venue Book an appointment with a wedding co-ordinator from you favourite venue. This is a chance to view the function rooms, bedrooms and grounds; and you can also ask any burning questions you have. Your wedding co-ordinator will be able to offer advice on room capacities, menus, service, packages and much more. www.wynyardhall.co.uk/about-us/gallery Visit A Wedding Fayre Bridal events are a fantastic way of meeting local suppliers and viewing their work, plus they ll give you some inspiration if you re not sure which chair covers or centre pieces to go for. www.wynyardhall.co.uk/weddings/bridal-events Buy Wedding Insurance OK, it s not very romantic, but if you need to cancel your wedding due to unexpected illness, loss of work or extreme weather conditions, having the right insurance could save you thousands!

Top Tip: If you re having a bespoke bridal gown made for you, start the process now. Designer dresses can take 4-6 months and allow 4-6 weeks for the alterations of off-the-peg dresses.
10 Months Before... Plan Your Honeymoon Whether you re heading for a tranquil beach in Bora Bora or a chateaux in the South of France, agree your budget, destination and dates. Book Your Entertainment Check if your venue has any rules, regulations or restrictions before deciding how to entertain your guests. Pianist? Pocket orchestra? Jazz band? DJ set? 9 Months Before... Choose Your Flowers Discuss the seasonality and composition of your favourite flowers with your florist. Then decide how many flowers you d like and where. Choose Your Bridesmaids Dresses Have you got the dress? Then it s time to find their dresses. To make sure shopping with the girls remains fun and fabulous, follow these 4 golden rules: 1) Know what you re looking for. Take a look at your own dress, and decide which style will compliment it before you go shopping. 2) Colour is key. So choose a dress colour that will suit the hair colours and skin tones of all your bridesmaids. 3) Be flexible. It s likely that your bridesmaids will have different body shapes. Buying from a range that offers dresses in the same colour with different necklines or style details will help you find dresses to flatter everyone. 4) Who is buying? Discuss who is buying which items straight away. This avoids awkward conversations about finances later. Top tip: When arranging your menu tasting, don t forget guests with dietary requirements! Menu Tasting Speak with your Wedding Co-ordinator about adding a menu tasting on to your wedding package - it s a great way of experiencing the flavours and textures of your chosen dishes.
