We highly recommend that you use a Windows computer to connect to the DPH WebConnect website. Macintosh computers are not recommended and not supported by DPH IT. Although we have been able to successfully connect to DPH WebConnect using Macintosh computers, we do not guarantee that they will always have a successful connection. In addition, there are known issues related to Apple and Java updates that often break a previously successful connection. Minimum Requirements Use of the SSL VPN requires a Mac with a broadband Internet connection and the following minimum requirements: Hardware Requirements Software Requirements Notes: Intel Core 2 Duo processor or higher 1 GB RAM or higher Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800x600) or higher resolution Mac OS 10.7.x, or 10.8., or 10.9 Safari 5.1.7 or higher The latest Java and Citrix Receiver client Symantec Endpoint Protection Full Disk Encryption 10.5 and 10.6 are no longer supported. Install Citrix Client for Mac OS 1. Open Safari and go to http://citrix.com > Downloads > Most Downloaded > Citrix Receiver 2. Click Download Receiver for Mac 3. The file will begin to download to your computer 4. Click on Finder and open your Downloads folder. 5. Double click CitrixReceiverWeb.dmg 6. Click Install Citrix Receiver.pkg 7. Click Continue 8. Click Continue at the Citrix Installer Welcome Screen Page 2
9. Click Continue to accept the Software License Agreement 10. Click Agree to continue installing the software and then Click Install at the next screen 11. Enter in your computer s administrator account password the username and password one uses to log into one s computer. Click Install Software Page 3
12. Choose Close Make sure Java is updated and enabled. Install or update Java for 10.7,10.8 and 10.9. 1. You ll either need to install Java or update it from the Java website, http://java.com 2. To install it, go to http://www.java.com > Click on Free Java Download. The latest version as of 8/20/14 is Version 7, Update 67 for 10.9. Java 7 update 65 is the latest for 10.8 3. Click agree, and start free download. 4. The file will begin to download to your computer 5. Click on Finder and open your Downloads folder. 6. Double click the file, jre 7u67 macosx x64.dmg 7. Double click the icon, Java 7 Update 67.pkg Page 4
8. Install Java 7 9. Click continue, and install 10. Enter in your computer s administrator account password the username and password one uses to log into one s computer. Click Install Software 11. After Java is installed, click reload (command + R) or quit (command + Q) to enable Java in your browser. 12. Open the Java Control Panel in System Preferences 13. 14. 15. Click on the Security tab 16. Make sure the box is checked, Enable Java content in the browser. 17. Click on Edit Site List. 18. Click Add and enter in the following: https://webconnect.sfdph.org/myucsf to the exception site list 19. Click OK to exit Page 6
Open Safari and make sure Pop Up Blockers are off: For Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks, Go to the Safari Menu > Preferences > Security Make sure Block pop up windows is unchecked. Make sure other boxes are checked. Pre Mavericks Mavericks Edit Plug ins in Safari 1. In the Security Tab, under Internet plug ins, click on Manage Website Settings and make sure Allow Plug ins box is checked 2. Click on Citrix Receiver Plug in in the left column and choose Allow Always When visiting other websites 3. Click on Java in the left column and see if webconnect.sfdph.org shows up in the configured websites list. Make sure Allow Always is chosen Login Procedure Go to https://webconnect.sfdph.org/myucsf Page 7
1. Use your IN Domain Active Directory user account Username: FirstName<space>LastName Password: Your IN Domain Active Directory Password 2. Click the Sign In button 3. On the next page, press the button on your white Entrust Token. Enter the token number displayed on your token and then click Sign In 4. For Java on 10.8 and 10.7, you might see this window. Check Always trust content, then Run Or, you might see this window, depending on what OS you re on. Choose Trust. Page 8
5. On 10.9, you might see this window to run the Juniper setup applet. Check Do not show again, then Run 6. Pre 10.9 7. 10.9 8. You might see the HostChecker Setup Control Warning window. Choose Always. HostChecker will download and launch the application. Page 9
9. Please wait. The next step might take a few minutes. 10. You may be prompted to enter in your operating system password to allow java to make changes. Enter in your computer s username and password 11. Depending on which version of Java, you will see this window 12. Click on Citrix Web Portal 13. Troubleshooting If you are unable to login, please review the information below for known problems and resolutions. Problem/Message Nothing happens after clicking on Sign In. Or, inactive plug in (see picture below) Solution Check to see if Java is installed or needs updating. Check Java preferences. In the System Preferences, go to Java > Security Tab Stuck on Host Checker or nothing happens after signing in with token code Also see document, WebConnect Troubleshooting for Macs 082014.pdf for instructions with pictures Make sure pop up blocker is turned off. Uncheck "Block Pop Up Windows" Refer to WebConnect Troubleshooting for Mac 082014 document. You ll need to enable the Java plugin and change status to Always Allow. Page 11
You may receive this window: "Java requires that you type your password." Enter your computer account administrator username and password. You may receive this window: "An applet from "webconnect.sfdph.org" is requesting access to your computer." You may receive this error: You are not allowed to log in. You are not authorized Check off the box, "Allow all applets from "webconnect.sfdph.org" with this signature" and choose Allow. Check to see if Citrix is installed. Security group permissions need to be modified. Please contact the UCSF Service Desk at 206 5126. Your token could be out of sync, damaged, or your might be entering in the wrong password or username. If you get to this page, you need to make sure you re adding /myucsf at the end of the URL. The correct URL is https://webconnect.sfdph.org/myucsf Edit your Safari bookmark to reflect the proper website Verify that you have one of the approved Anti virus packages installed and that you have updated the virus pattern files within the past 15 days. If you re a UCSF employee, you can download Symantec Endpoint Protection here http://software.ucsf.edu. You will need your employee ID to login. Page 12
