Our Lady of the Assumption School 2141 Walnut Avenue, Carmichael, CA 95608 (916) 489-8958 November 17, 2015 With Hands to Serve and Hearts to Love NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL I am pleased to announce that this week, we will be issuing EdRedi Tablets to our students in grades 6 through 8. These tablets will be brought to school each day and will be used in class and at home for student work. For more information on the tablets, please read the packet of information that was sent home with your 6 th, 7 th, or 8 th grade child today. Please sign the Acceptable Use Policy, Acceptable Use Agreement, and the Terms and Agreement, and return these forms. We must receive the signed documents before tablets can be checked out to students. We will issue the tablets tomorrow to students who have turned in their forms. We will be training the students on proper handling and care of their tablets. It is important that students keep their tablets and keyboards charged before coming to school each day. The keyboards are charged separately from the tablets. Charging devices and cases for the tablets will be included, and your students are responsible for their safe keeping. Initiating a 1:1 program has been a long-term goal for OLA, and I am excited that we will be able to put excellent learning tools in the hands of our students. These tablets are purpose built for education, and our teachers are able to control the content and apps that are used on them to ensure the focus in the classroom remains learning. If you have any questions about our 1:1 Learning Program, please don't hesitate to contact me. Our third Catechetical Assembly is this Sunday evening, on November 22 nd, at 5:00pm. We will start with a light supper. The topic will be the Season of Advent and the Liturgical Year. Families attending will learn special prayers, traditions, and activities that you can do throughout the year, starting with the season of Advent. One of the activities will be to create your own family Advent Wreath. Many great resources will be available for families.
