Immediate Response Health & Safety Training strives to provide quality training to individuals and groups with the intent of improving knowledge and skills. CHC30212 Certificate III in Aged Care This qualification addresses work primarily in residential aged care facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans. NEXT COURSE: Begins March 2015. Expressions of Interest are now open! Course duration is 14-16 weeks, 2 days per week in class study. Aim This qualification addresses work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans. This course is ideal if you wish to formalise your existing skills, or if you wish to work in aged care facilities and or care for the elderly. Elements This program will provide a pathway to work in carrying out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for peoples in an aged care setting. Carry out activities related to an individualised plan and report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers. Career Opportunities Upon successful completion participants will be qualified to gain employment in a range of community service environments including but not limited to: Accommodation support worker Assistant in nursing Care assistant/worker Care services employee Community care worker Community house worker Community support worker In home respite worker Personal care assistant Entry Requirements Police Check / Clearance. Completion of English to year 10 OR good English language, Literacy and Numeracy skill. Vocational Placement - Students not currently working in the Aged Care industry will be required to enrol into and complete Vocational placement in an approved aged care facility for 120 to 150 hours, as part of this course. Immediate Response Health & Safety Training will assist students to locate Vocational placement. This Vocational Placement is unpaid. 4
Program Duration This program is offered over a 14-16 weeks period at our Birtinya Training Centre and within the work place in and Aged Care facility. This duration may be flexible, please contact us to discuss. Participants will learn how to support and care for older people. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: provide personal care provide support to an older person in the activities of daily living support the older person to meet emotional and psychological needs provide care support for individuals with dementia work effectively with culturally diverse clients and colleagues assist individuals with self-medication Pathway to Further Study This course covers units from the national training package, so participants may receive recognition towards the Certificate IV in Aged Care, Certificate IV in Home and Community Care, Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or the Diploma of Nursing. How to Apply You may be eligible for finical support though the Queensland Government Certificate III Guarantee funded by the Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) RPL recognises your existing experience gained through life or work for which you may not have obtained a formal qualification. We will work with you to identify your existing skills, and assess if you can then achieve a full or part time qualification. This helps to avoid unnecessary duplication of training, saving you time and money. Application should be sought before attending a course. Payment plans are also available. Refund Policy For Certificate III Guarantee Student Contribution. Refunds must be requested in writing seven (7) days prior to withdrawal. Withdrawal Request must be made on the Withdrawal Request Form. This must be signed by the Student and if applicable, a referring 3 rd party. *Units will be refunded on a unit by unit basis for all non-completed units. **Administration fee is non-refundable. Please note student fees must be paid prior to any training commencing. 7
