Diabetic Foot Study Group (DFSG) The aim of the Diabetic Foot Study Group (DFSG) of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) is to promote an advancement of knowledge on all aspects of diabetic foot care. This is done through active co-operation and collaboration between diabetologists, podiatrists, specialist nurses, orthopaedic and vascular surgeons and other specialists with an interest in caring for diabetic patients with foot problems. European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) The aim of the Association is to encourage and support research in the field of diabetes, rapid diffusion of acquired knowledge and facilitating its application. The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) was founded in Montecatini, Italy in 1965. The Association embraces scientists, physicians, laboratory workers, nurses and students from all over the world who are interested in diabetes and related subjects. The number of active members of the association is currently more than 5,500 individuals from over 100 countries throughout the world. In 2002 the Annual Meeting of the EASD was held in Budapest, Hungary. In 2003, due to the fact that the International Diabetes Federation held its congress in Paris, France, there was no EASD Meeting. In 2004 the Annual Meeting took place in Munich, Germany, in 2005 it was in Athens, Greece, in 2006 in Copenhagen / Malmö, Denmark / Sweden, in 2007 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2008 in Rome, Italy (18.000 participants) in 2009 in Vienna, Austria and in 2010 it will be held in Stockholm, Sweden 20-24 September.

Description of the Diabetic foot Study Group Conference Previous meetings have gathered around 300 participants. A majority of these are members of the Diabetic Foot Study Group. Usually, 50-60 % of the participants are physicians, representing most centres of excellence working within the area of diabetes in Europe. Even a number of centres from the USA, India, Russia and Australia are represented. Traditionally, the conference is held in connection with the much larger conferences of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD). Consequently, the impact of the DFSG reaches far beyond the DFSG participants, as their recommendations influence all interested in the area of diabetes through the following EASD meeting. This meeting gathers up to 18,000 specialists. Technical Innovations Symposium Rate: 4.500 EUR A timeslot of 1½ hour for a Technical Innovations Symposium will be incorporated in the scientific programme. Companies are offered a timeslot of 15 minutes in the Technical Innovations Symposium. This will allow presentations of the latest innovative technology and new treatment strategies with relevance to diabetic foot care. Please observe that there will only be 4 slots available. Focus Group The Focus Group agreement is a part of a sponsor agreement: Each Focus Group will have to be designed and agreed individually with the DFSG Executive, but the principles for the Focus group will be a 1 ½ to 2 hours discussion. The subject and the participants/countries is decided by the company in cooperation with a member of the DFSG executive. The participants in the focus group will be picked from the participants of the meeting and for that reason no extra costs in relation to registration, accommodation and travelling needs to be added. No honorarium will be expected to be paid to the participants unless the planned activity requires preparation or follow-up for the participants. If the moderator(s) need(s) to do some extra work in relation to the Focus Group e.g. preparation/publication a fee will have to be declared between the company and him/her.
