Cherry Tree Barn A unique opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds, this attractive detached family home has all the thermal and easily maintained benefits of a 12 years old property whilst having the appearance and character of a period barn. Cherry Tree Barn is one of ten exclusive homes, each built in a traditional farm yard style, ranging from Tudor farmhouses to converted oast houses and set in a delightful private enclave surrounded by well established trees on the outskirts of Manston Village. Cherry Tree Barn is situated in an enviable position right at the far end of the private road where it enjoys good sized secluded gardens. There are four parking spaces to the front of the property and a phenomenal double garage that is sure to impress even the most fastidious car enthusiasts. This stunning home is a credit to the present owners who have spared no expense in replicating the interior of a barn and creating a warm and welcoming character home. We were particularly impressed with the exceptional finish of the decoration throughout and the quality of the luxuriously appointed family bathroom and en-suite shower room fittings. The kitchen/breakfast room is equally well appointed having a comprehensive range of bespoke cupboards beneath polished granite working surfaces, a butlers sink and a farmhouse style range cooker. There is so much to like about this wonderful home, perhaps it will be the unforgettable master bedroom, the wealth of character features or maybe the fabulous conservatory with views over the gardens. The enclave of Highlands Glade has farmland on two sides and is adjacent to Manston Golf Centre, a driving range and 9 hole course. There are championship golf courses at Northforeland near Broadstairs and Royal St Georges at Sandwich. Manston is a highly sought after village situated within easy reach of the seaside towns of Birchington, Ramsgate and Broadstairs. It is just a short drive from several large supermarkets and the retail parks at Westwood Cross, which is a relatively new shopping centre, boasting all the well known High Street retailers and a multi screen cinema complex. There are excellent educational facilities are available for children of all ages, including Canterbury Christchurch University, Wellesley House and St Lawrence College, in addition to several other grammar and good secondary schools. Road commuters enjoy very straight forward and quick access to the A299 which is dual carriageway all the way through to the start of the M2 for fast travel to London and the Kent motorway network.
This is what the owners say It had been our lifelong ambition to live in converted barn with exposed beams and masses of character but had been put off by the potential problems associated with an actual barn conversion and the unpredictable maintenance costs. Then, when we found this property 12 years ago, it was the perfect answer to creating our dream home. It was a brand new home, being built in the authentic style of barn and because we came across it in the early stages of construction we had a say in way the rooms where laid out and were able to personalise the interior. We had the good fortune to know a craftsman carpenter who worked for months creating a beamed interior, complimenting the pine staircase and internal detail in the pine doors, door frames and skirting boards. The house was originally being built as a four bedroom home however we opted for an arrangement that provided us with a far larger bathroom and a much more impressive master bedroom with walk in wardrobes and a larger en-suite shower room. We had a free hand in the design of the whole interior from fireplaces to our choices for a bespoke fitted kitchen and the style of the en-suite shower room, bathroom and cloakroom suites. Being a brand new home we also had the pleasure of planning the gardens from scratch. As keen gardeners it was brilliant to have a complete blank canvass and we decided upon a design that tracked the sun from morning to evening. We wanted a kitchen garden and greenhouse for growing our own fruit and vegetables and some where more formal for relaxing and entertaining family and friends. One of our favourite rooms is the conservatory; it adds a whole new dimension to the sitting room and is designed for use as an all year round heated room which has a wonderfully bright and airy ambience on even the bleakest winter days. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the gardens which although relatively young have a well established look. This due in part to the splendid variety of mature specimen trees growing in the neighbouring gardens, they create a secluded environment and are a haven for squirrels and visiting birdlife. We have been extremely happy living here, it is a fabulous spot and it would be lovely to sell to someone who would have the same enthusiasm for our home and gardens.
