OBJECTIVES & ATHLETES SELECTION Objectives: The main objectives of these camps are to: - Further evaluate identified talented athletes as part of the National Talent Program, - Provide additional training opportunities to these identified athletes, - Encourage training exchanges between athletes from different clubs and countries - Review and improve basic skills both on land and in the water Training will include Gymnastics, Conditioning, Flexibility, Acrobatics, Lifts, Speed Swimming, Synchro laps, Routine skills, Basic Synchro Positions, Figures and Transitions. Each athlete will take home a personal evaluation from the Coaching Staff. Athletes Selection: The Talent Camps are by invitation or application only. A selection of 22 US athletes will be invited to each camp (66 athletes in total), and an additional 10 international athletes each week. Athletes are identified at competitions throughout the year by the High Performance Director and the National Team Coaching staff.
CAMP DATES & LOCATION Dates: Camp 1 July 10 to 16, 2016 12 and under years old Virginie Dedieu Camp 2 July 17 to 23, 2016 14-15 years old Elvira Khasianova Camp 3 July 24 to 30, 2016 13-14 years old Andrea Fuentes Each camp is Sunday to Saturday. The athletes will have to arrive by 5pm on the Sunday afternoon and leave at midday on the following Saturday. Athletes: 22 US athletes and 10 foreign athletes each week Location: Riverside Developmental National Training Center, California 4800 Magnolia Avenue Riverside, CA 92506 Airport: Ontario Airport (ONT), CA 20 miles Orange County Airport (SNA), CA 40 miles Los Angeles Airport (LAX), CA 65 miles Note: US Athlete Transfers will be arranged only from Ontario Airport to Riverside for all and not from the other two airports. International Athlete Transfers will be arranged from LAX or Ontario Airport.
RIVERSIDE Riverside is a city in Riverside County, California, United States, located in the Inland Empire metropolitan area. Riverside is the county seat of the eponymous county and named for its location beside the Santa Ana River. It is the most populous city in the Inland Empire, and is located approximately 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Riverside was founded in the early 1870s and is the birthplace of the California citrus industry as well as home of the Mission Inn, the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States.[11] It is also home to the Riverside National Cemetery. The University of California, Riverside hosts the Riverside Sports Complex. Other attractions in Riverside include the Fox Performing Arts Center, Riverside Metropolitan Museum, which houses exhibits and artifacts of local history, the California Museum of Photography, the California Citrus State Historic Park, and the Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree, the last of the two original navel orange trees in California.[

TRAINING FACILITIES Gymnastics room Wrestling or Cheerleading room Cheerleading Room: indoor cheer leading facility with gymnastic floor, tumbling track, floor to ceiling mirrors and trampoline with harness. Wrestling room: indoor facility with padded floor and walls, wall bars and pull bars. Pool Hillcrest High School Swimming Pool Outdoor 40 yards x 25 yards swimming at Hillcrest High School, indoor land training room available if needed. Other pools available include the Riverside Aquatic Center, Sippy Woodhead Pool, Poly High School pool and California Baptist University Pool.
TRAINING FACILITIES California Baptist University Swimming Pool Outdoor pool 35 yards x 25 yards x 8 feet deep (in deep part) 80 degrees All water training will be at CBU pool which is on campus between the Cafeteria and the Cottages.
LIVING FACILITIES Housing at California Baptist University (CBU) The Cottages 8432 Magnolia Avenue Riverside, CA 92504 About CBU: http://www.calbaptist.edu/explore-cbu/about/ The Cottages: http://www.calbaptist.edu/explore-cbu/offices/residencelife/cottages/ There will be four cottages for the Summer Talent Camp athletes and staff. Each cottage will have 6 rooms with two or three twin beds in each, three bathrooms, a fully fitted kitchen and a laundry room. Transportation Airport transfers will be organized by CBU University with buses (32 passengers) with professional drivers. The coaches also have a vehicle for the duration of the camp for emergencies. USA Synchro requires an NCSI Background Check and a Driving Background check for all its coaches.

COACHES GUEST COACHES WEEK 1 VIRGINIE DEDIEU Week 1 Virginie is the most famous French Synchronized Swimmer. She participated in 3 Olympics (1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens). She won a bronze medal in Duet at the 2000 Olympics with Myriam Lignot. She is 3 times World Champions (2003 Barcelona, 2005 Montreal, 2007 Melbourne). She is probably the most famous soloist. In 2015, she came back from retirement to swim the mixed duet with Benoit Beaufils at the World Championship in Kazan, Russia, finishing 4 th. She retired in 2008, she started coaching as a consultant for the National Teams in France, Spain, Israel, USA, Italy and England. Every summer, she also organizes summer camps in her town in the South of France. Virginie has also been competing with her club (Aix en provence) every year since she retired. She has won the solo at the French National Championship every single year since 1997. Virginie was known for her height both in vertical and eggbeater, her incredible facial emotions and great solo choreography. Virginie has two young boys and is also an interior designer. She lives in Bouc-Bel-Air in the South of France.
COACHES GUEST COACHES WEEK 1 Elvira Khasianova - Week 2 Elvira is from Russia and a 13 time Gold medalist in the sport of synchronized swimming and is the director of the Northern Europe and Russia Region for the Special Olympics. Elvira was a member of the Russian teams that won gold medals in the team competition in 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics. She also won World Championships in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2011 along with European Championships in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2010. Khasyanova has been a member of the national team since 1999. She announced her retirement on 1 November 2012 and began working for the Special Olympics organization on 1 January 2013.
COACHES GUEST COACHES WEEK 1 ANDREA FUENTES Week 3 Andrea started synchro at 9 years old after playing several other sports (figure skating and gymnastics). She moved to the Catalan training center at 13 and then the Senior National Team at aged 16. Andrea participated in 3 Olympics (Athens, Beijing and London). She won 2 Silver medals in Beijing, one Silver in duet and 1 Bronze in team in London 2012. Andrea is the most decorated athlete to date in Spanish history in the Olympics. She won 14 medals at World Championships in Montreal 2005, in Melbourne 2007, in Rome 2009 and in Shanghai 2011. She has also 8 medals at European Championships from 2006 to 2011. She retired in 2013 and started coaching in Spain and but also helping other countries as well. As a synchronized swimmer, Andrea was know for her technical abilities, her hard work and determination and an unusual style. Andrea lives in Mallorca and has a son, Killian 2. She speaks 3 languages fluently (English, French and Spanish). She graduated as a nutritional coach from the Pure Raw Academy in NY. She also writes for the newspaper El Mundo and do conferences for athletes and coaches who want to know more about synchronized swimming.
COACHES JOHN ORTIZ HEAD COACH John has been involved in Synchro for 21 years. He is a level 3 CCP Coach and Level 3 Zone Official. He has been a part of the October Skills competition since 2010 and is also an assessor for National Team Trials. John has coached three clubs in the US, and is currently working for KW Synchro in Ontario, Canada. John is also a personal trainer with focuses on anatomy. His passion is to improve the athletic strength and skill of athletes. OLGA MOLOTILOVA ASSISTANT COACH Olga is from Moscow, Russia. She has been involved in Synchro since age 6. She was a Champion in USSR and represented the USSR at many international competitions. She coached Moscow Club Trud before becoming a Synchro Performer in Taiwan, China, Morocco, Malaysia and France with "Crescend'O" by Muriel Hermine (Synchro Show in Paris France ) for 4 years. She was the Head Coach of Sacramento Synchronized Swim Team for several years and now coaches in Southern California.
ASSISTANT COACHES AUDREY MCMAHON ASSISTANT COACH/TEAM MANAGER Audrey has been involved in Synchro for 17 years. She swam for Rocky Mountain Splash for 10 years and collegiately for the University of the Incarnate Word and Colorado State University. She won medals at National Age Groups, Collegiate Nationals, and was US Open Finalist. Audrey was the lead coach for Northern Colorado Synchro for several years leading them to their first National medal in 2015 and is now the head 13-15 Age Group coach for Rocky Mountain Splash. She has a BS in Business Accounting and works as a CPA in Denver. TEAGAN BETANCOURT ASSISTANT COACH/TEAM MANAGER Teagan has been involved in synchro for a total of 18 years with 13 years of swimming and 5 years of coaching. During her swimming career, she won medals at the Age Group Championship and the US Open with Rocky Mountain Splash in Colorado. After finishing high school, she got married and moved with her Navy husband to Virginia and then California where she coached 3 different teams at the Age Group and Collegiate level. Teagan is currently back in Colorado coaching for her original team and working as the tech chair for the association.
GYMNASTICS STAFF FRED PASQUALIN - GYMNASTICS COACH & LAND TRAINING Fred has been the Sport Director and Head Coach at Lyon Gym (male gymnastics club) for 22 years. He has a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor Degree in Sport Science and Coaching. He also has a Masters Degree in Coaching Artistic Gymnastics and is a National Level Gymnastics Judge. As a coach, he has won 103 Gold Medals at French National Championships since 1991. He has also won a Gold Medal at the World Games in 2005 and 2005, and a Gold Medal at the World Championship in 2005 with Acrobatic Rock n roll. Fred has experience working with other sports (Acrobatic Rock n Roll, Hip Hop, Acrobatic Skiing). He has also done the casting for Dragone and the Cirque du Soleil. Fred started working with Synchronized Swimming in 2013 with the World University Games Team. During this time, he has learned and analyzed the sport to provide athletes and coaches with sport specific land exercises.
MEDICAL Riverside Medical Clinic 7117 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, CA Website: www.riversidemedicalclinic.com USA Synchro has a partnership with the Medical Center in Riverside. Athletes will receive the following benefits: Free assessment for injury, recommendation for treatment and delivery of treatment (to be covered by the athlete s personal insurance). In case of an injury or emergency for any foreign athletes, treatments will have to be paid by the athlete if under $100. For anything over that amount, USA Synchro will pay and then will invoice the athlete s family.
FINANCIALS The cost of the National Talent Camp is $980 per athlete. This cost covers pool rental, gymnastics facility rental, coaching fee, curriculum development, transportation, housing and food for 6 days, medical and airport transfers. This cost does NOT include travel costs to and from Riverside, or pocket money if needed during the camp. Payment can be made by check, payable to USA Synchro or online with Credit Card. DOCUMENTS After an athlete is invited to the camp, they will be contacted by one of the Team Managers in order to complete their registration and paperwork for the camps. Each athlete will then need to email the following forms to the Team Manager prior to the commencement of the camp: Release form Cal Baptist University USA synchro medical release form Medical release form for the Riverside Medical Clinic Signed USA Synchro Code of Conduct Insurance information, Parents information and Emergency contact details
EQUIPMENT All athletes are required to bring the following equipment for training: Swimsuits, caps, goggles, nose clips, towels Kick board, Fins (long ones), inflatable water plastic bottles Jump rope, stretching mat, therabands (2 x resistance band) Running shoes, leggings, t-shirts Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses Sleeping bag and pillow (not required for foreign athletes)
