Safety RDVT RDVT is a software that allows to download, view and process the data recorded in the Crash Protected Memory Module (CPMM) of Railway Event Recorder (HiRER, RER100). DIS Driver Information System 58
DIS DIS is a complete system that collects and stores driver and travel information. The stored information are used for incident and diagnostic data analysis and for monitoring of the driver behaviour and the relevant travel events. The data, collected on board, are digitally signed by the driver, who identifies himself by means of a Smart Card. The collected data are sampled from digital inputs, MVB bus, RS485 lines and from speed and GPS sensors. The data are temporarily stored on board and transmitted to the ground system by means of a wireless link based on WI-FI IEEE811 b/g technology. When the train is running in the range of the communication coverage area of the base station the DIS download spontaneously the files in the waiting list. A sophisticated software forbids duplication of downloading. Driver Information System The DIS has both a Legal and Juridical memory. The Legal Memory stores file that are digitally signed by the driver and are used for ruling the private contract between the driver and the Railway Operator. 59

SICCD Communication, Control and Diagnostic Integrated System A very complex system applied on more than 900 passenger and driving car was developed to be applied on Trenitalia main trains. Under the complete title of the system Communication, Control and Diagnostic Integrated System are hosted several subsystems, mainly: Train network Train Central Control Unit Passenger Information System Communication Board-Ground A dedicated rack performs the general management of the train functions and the other subsystems. It interfaces, by means of TCN and dedicated I/O, all the equipment on the train for diagnostic and control purpose. The passenger information systems, supply to the passenger external and internal visual information on reservation and destination, and vocal advertisements. The PIS has dynamic capability that is able to handle on the fly information coming from ground installation. 61
