4 VISUNET TECHNOLOGY VisuNet technology guarantees a perfect fit. Depending on your facility and networking requirements, you can select a VisuNet technology from our family of industrial solutions. MONITORS FOR DIRECT CONNECTION Monitors that connect to Host PCs are available as high-quality industrial monitors with or without KVM extension. Direct monitors are used for applications when the monitor is located close to the Host PC. Is the distance between monitor and Host PC more than some meters a monitor with KVM extender is used. 5 NETWORK-BASED operator workstations Network based operator workstations are available as Remote Monitors or as PCs. Both use standard Ethernet for communication. Remote Monitors are typically connected with a DCS system, while Panel PCs are often used in combination with PLCs or as a stand-alone solution. Basically the maximum distance for data transfer is unlimited. The operating system used is Windows XP Professional or Windows 7. Customers can, therefore, install software packages for control, visualization and production. The system operates independently of any external computing power. 5

6 VISUNET EX1 VisuNet EX1 devices can be used in Zone 1 and 21 (ATEX and IECEx). The operator workstations are suited to harsh industrial conditions such as those experienced in the chemical or oil and gas industry. VisuNet EX1 devices are available as Panel PCs and are used primarily as stand-alone solutions or in combination with a PLC. Remote Monitors are also available and are usually connected to process control systems. Panel PCs and Remote Monitors are both operated in hazardous areas and can transfer data to the Host PC located in the safe area up to 90 m away without requiring additional hardware. This distance can be extended to two kilometers using the option box OB 31. 7 VisuNet EX2 GMP and VisuNet GMP VisuNet EX2 GMP and VisuNet GMP are product lines specially designed for regulated industries such as the pharmaceutical and food and beverage industries. Direct monitors, KVM monitors, Remote Monitors and Panel PCs are available for use in safe areas. Panel PCs and Remote Monitors are both approved for Zone 2 and 22 (ATEX) and can transfer data to the Host PC over a maximum distance of 90 m without requiring additional hardware. This distance can be extended to 180 m using the RJ Switch. The maximum distance between the KVM monitor and the Host PC is 300 m. 10 TERMEX Approved for ATEX Zone 1 and 22, intrinsically safe operator panels are ideal for flexible and cost-effective operation and monitoring of machines and processes. TERMEX terminals are typically connected to a PLC. A range of interfaces is available for the transfer of data. These include interfaces such as RS232, RS485 or TTY as well as fieldbus protocols such as Modbus or PROFIBUS DP. Today s standard programmable logic controllers from all major manufacturers can also communicate with TERMEX terminals. The software TERMEXpro 4.0 provides TERMEX users with a Window based tool for graphical designs that allows even complex projects to be realized. 11 Peripherals POWERSCAN OPERATING DATA IN Zone 1 AND 21 AND DIVISION 1 AND 2 PowerScan barcode readers capture and record vital batch processes, recipe handling and for procedure/operator validation, traceability of raw material in batch and lot tracking in hazardous areas. They are available in a wired version or a wireless system. The identified barcodes can be made available to PCs, PLCs and DCSs. PowerScan is suitable for use with VisuNet operator workstations or TERMEX operator panels and can also be used as a stand-alone solution. Both devices are enabled either for connecting a wired barcode reader or a base station PScan-B. Both barcode handhelds, wired and wireless, are approved according ATEX Zone 1 and 21. Furthermore, PScan-D is approved for use in Class I, Div. 1 and Div. 2. In combination with a combined barrier, power supply and PS/2 interface these products can be used in Zone 1 and Division 2 as stand-alone keyboards. OPTION BOX MEDIA CONVERTER AND Power supplies FOR Zone 1 and 21 The OB31 option box is IEC and ATEX-compliant for Zone 1 and 21. It is used to bridge large distances that are non-segmentable with the aid of fiber optic cables (up to 2 km) or DSL copper cable (up to 1 km) and also provides a 24 V DC supply. RJ switch for more flexibility in Zone 2 The RJ switch is used for transfer distances between 90 m and 180 m in Zone 2. Equipped with five ports, the switch not only increases the transfer distance, other components can also be connected. 11
