Lync may be installed on an ios(iphone or ipad), Android or Blackberry Device. Use the instructions below per the specific device desired to install Lync. Install on iphone or ipad Install Lync on your iphone and get connected while away from your desk. 1. On the iphone, tap the App Store icon. 2. Tap the Search button. 3. In the Search field, type Microsoft Lync 2010. a. You will see search results displayed. b. Tap the Microsoft Lync 2010 for iphone option. 4. Tap the Free button. 5. Tap the Install button. a. Enter itunes password, if prompted. b. Tap OK. c. Lync will install. 6. To use Lync, tap the Lync 2010 icon. 7. In the Sign-in Address field, type your Booth Email Address. a. i.e. firstname.lastname@chicagobooth.edu. Or BoothUsername@Chicagobooth.edu. b. In the Password field, type your Booth Password. i. If you change your password on the Portal, you will need to update the Mobile app with the new Password. 8. Tap the More Details link. a. In the User Name field, type: gsb\yourboothusername. b. Make no changes to the Auto-Detect Server to ON. c. Make no changes to the HTTP Proxy as it is. d. Tap the Sign in As option. i. Set the default as how your presence appears to others. 1. Available. 2. Busy. 3. Do Not Disturb. 4. Be Right Back. 5. Off Work. 6. Appear Away. 9. Tap the Sign In button. Configure Lync 2010 1. Tap the Next button. 2. Enter your Cellular Phone Number. a. Allows you to receive calls on your cellular phone. b. Allows you to join meetings from your cellular phone. 3. Tap the Next button. 4. Tap the Done button. Add Contacts If the desktop client is used, contacts will load upon installation. If you do not use the desktop application, you will need to add contacts. 1
To add contacts: On the iphone, tap the Lync app. Then do the following. 1. Tap the Contacts icon. 2. Tap the Search field. Begin typing the name of the contact. 3. Click on the name of the contact. The contact card opens. 4. Click on the icon. A message opens. 5. Click in the field to begin typing the message. 6. Tap Send to send the message. Tap the icon from within a message to go to the message list. This will display all past messages you sent from the iphone. 1. Tap the Edit button to delete Chats. 2. Tap each conversation to delete a. Alternatively, tap the select all button. 3. Tap the delete button. 2
Tap the icon to get additional options: In the additional options, users can delete, view and call a contact. Also, invite others to a conversation or send your current location to a user. Set the desired Notifications. 1. Close out of Lync. 2. Tap the Settings button. 3. Tap the Notifications button. 4. Scroll to locate Lync 2010. 5. Tap on Lync 2010 to set the notifications. 6. Set the Notifications, as appropriate. Install on Android Install Lync on your Android Phone version OS 2.3 or Ice Cream Sandwich, and get connected while away from your desk. 1. On the Android, tap the app Drawer icon. 2. Tap the Play Store icon. 3. Tap the search magnifying glass. a. Search for Lync 2010. 4. Select Lync 2010. 5. Tap the Install button. 6. Tap the Accept and Download button. 3
a. App will download and install. 7. Return to the App Drawer. 8. Tap the Lync 2010 App to open. 9. In the Sign in Address field, type your Booth username. 10. In the Password field, type your Booth password. a. Check the Remember password check box. b. Tap the Menu button (lower right hand of the screen). c. Tap Options. d. Tap the username. e. Enter your Booth username preceded by GSB\. f. Tap the OK button. g. Tap the Back button. 11. Tap the Sign in button. 12. Enter your Cellular phone number. IM a Contact On the Android, Tap the Lync app. Then do the following. 1. Tap the Contacts icon. 4
2. Tap the Menu icon. 3. Tap the Search magnifying glass. Begin typing the name of the contact. 4. Tap on the name of the contact. The contact card opens. 5. Click on the icon. A message opens. 5
