This document describe how to download, install and activate your Microsoft Office software that has been purchased from Pugh Computers Ltd. Creating a LiveID to sign the Microsoft eagreement To purchase Microsoft software through Pugh Computers Ltd, you will need to sign the Microsoft eagreement, but before you can do that, you will need to create a LiveID so that you can login. Note: It is important that you use the same e mail address that was provided to Pugh to setup the agreement; this is usually tied back to the establishment domain name and NOT a Hotmail/Outlook Live ID. This Live ID will be referenced as the business e mail address. 1. You should have received an e mail from Microsoft with the subject line; Confirmation of Microsoft Volume Licensing Agreement Acceptance and Submission Please click on the link in the e mail. Note: If you have received your e mail in plain text (some e mail providers like SquirrelMail converts the e mail from HTML to plain text) the link provided will be broken; Document Feedback elfed@pugh.co.uk Page 1 of 9
This will require you to manually copy the whole link (3 lines) and then paste it into your browser (i.e. Internet explorer). 2. Sign in with your windows Live ID; Note: If you do not have a Live ID, please click on Create one now a) On that login page, click on Sign up now b) You now will be prompted to create an account; Fill in the fields in the form and ensure that you c) When you have submitted that form, it will take you to the following page; d) Check your e mails. There should be a message (Subject: Verify your email address) that shows; Simply click on the blue link to verify your account. Document Feedback elfed@pugh.co.uk Page 2 of 9
TROUBLESHOOTING: If you feel that after you have singed in, and you are going around in circles, immediately after signing in, copy the link from the e mail and paste it into the URL address bar. e) You will be prompted with the following window. Click on Ok to continue. f) Go back to step 1 (click on that link again) 3. Read then accept the agreement; then submit. 4. The following popup should appear; After the contract has been signed, Pugh will process your order which will be passed on to Microsoft. Microsoft will then send you an e mail once the order is complete; they will use the e mail address that was provided to Pugh during the order process. Document Feedback elfed@pugh.co.uk Page 3 of 9
2. Logging into the VLSC for the first time 1. You will get an e mail from Microsoft (Subject: Welcome to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)), there will be a Begin Registration link in the e mail that will take you to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC). 2. You will be prompted to sign in; use the e mail address used in part 2 3. Then fill in the following form, and then click on sign in; 4. 5. After you have clicked on Submit, the following window will appear; 6. Check your e mails. There should be a message (Subject: Thank you for registering with the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)). Click on the link labelled; Volume Licensing Service Center. 7. 2. If you are not already logged into the VLSC website, please go to https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/servicecenter/home.aspx 3. After logging in, click on Downloads and Keys 4. Within the Product search filter on the right hand side, enter; Office Professional Plus 2013 with SP1 or Office Standard 2013 with SP1 5. 4. Installing Microsoft Office 2013 Before you install Office, we recommend that you remove any previous versions as the key you use, will only work with the media that has been provided by Pugh (DVD) or with media that has been downloaded from the VLSC website. To do this (on windows 8); 1. Right click on Start, Programs and Features. 2. Scroll down to Microsoft, uninstall any programs that resemble any of the following; Microsoft Office Click to Run Microsoft Office 2013 Microsoft Trial Microsoft Home and Business 2013 3. Restart your Computer. Now you are ready to install the software. 4. The file you have download is an ISO file. If you are using Windows 8, simply mount ISO file (double click on the ISO file you have just downloaded). If you are using a previous version of Windows (Windows 7, Vista or XP), you will need to burn this directly onto a disk or extract the files using WinZip. Here is how to extract your files using WinZip. a. Download WinZip from www.winzip.com b. Install the WinZip program. c. Once installed, go to the location where you have downloaded Microsoft Office to, right click on the file, and then click on; 5. 5. Activating Microsoft Office 2013 Although you have installed Microsoft Office, you have not entered the keys to validate your purchase. On the Microsoft VLSC website click on the Key button and use the MAK key provided; After the installation of Microsoft Office is complete; Click on Blank Document Then click on File (located at top left hand corner) Then; Account Then; Change Product Key Enter the product key and click on Continue.
