Job Coach The Role Location: Bristol area Home based Contract type: various 9.53 p/h paye 11.15 p/h self employment rate The role Job Coaches support people to find and keep the right job for them by matching their skills and talents with the employers need. This involves working with individuals, families and other professionals, disability, engaging employers and supporting people as they get to know the job. Sixteen Co-operative is looking to expand its capacity in Bristol and to support more people into work. We are looking for individuals to join our supported employment service interested in supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues to find and keep jobs. The person You may have experience of working with people with a learning disability and ideally have experience of a number of different job settings. You will be keen to work with individuals and to approach employers on their behalf. We are looking for applicants that can work unsupervised but remain part of a wider team committed to supporting more people into work. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with a variety of different individuals. Training, support and access to our Community of Practice will be available. This opportunity and offers you flexibility in working hours. Commitment to continued development and training will be required. The arrangements We work with self employed Job Coaches; people seconded from other organisations for some of their time or can employ people directly.
Job Coaches work from home but come together regularly to share experiences, receive mentoring, support and training. Hours of work are variable and are agreed with each Job Coach on a regular basis always dependant on client requirements. Most Job Coaches are part time..sixteen provides Job Coaches to people as they need them so as more and more people look for work, then more work is available. Becoming a job coach takes time. Sixteen recognises this and helps all new workers access training and mentoring over time to ensure that they have the right skills and knowledge to support people to get jobs. We are interested in hearing from self motivated people who are able to work unsupervised but be part of a team keen to develop their skills and experience to support disabled people into employment. To take referrals of people who have a learning disability and assess their preferences, levels of ability and support needs with regard to work experience and employment. 2. Prepare and deliver an employment support plan to the individual & their employers, that is in line with the client s wishes and employer needs as highlighted through Vocational Profiling/Discovery, Planning Meeting, Employer Discovery & Negotiations, Workplace Analysis, Job Analysis & Task Analysis. 3. To carry out a detailed job analysis of potential job placements. 4. To acquire or complete risk assessments where appropriate. 5. To carry out detailed job matching of service users and placements. 6. Understand the concerns of the individual, carers and employers, facilitating understanding and communication on an ongoing basis 7. Use Systematic Instruction to ensure a planned approach to support maximum participation of the supported employee in job and job related tasks. Continually seek ways to increase the individual s independence and competence in job and job related tasks 8. Identify, wherever possible, strategies for fading, use of natural and other supports, accommodations or aids and adaptations to minimise reliance on the job coach
9. To analyse and use, if appropriate, company training opportunities and the support of the workers according to individual needs. 10.To provide on-the-job training to service users in integrated work settings and/or support to co-workers to become competent and independent, carry out and learn each job prior to designing training programmes and pacing the client. 11.Support the development of the co-op when working with other Job Coaches in sharing support etc to ensure clarity with regards to style of support to be provided ensuring consistency of approach to the individual and employer General 1. To maintain standard of dress that is appropriate to role and in accordance with the organisation s dress policy. 2. To maintain confidentiality at all times and to ensure respect for, proper observance of and adherence to Sixteen s confidentiality policy for all staff. 3. To attend regular supervision sessions with line manager, regular team meetings and undertake relevant training as and when required. 4. To take all reasonable care of the health and safety of her/himself and of other persons who may be affected by her/his acts or omissions. As regards to any duty or requirement imposed upon the organisation by or under any of the relevant statutory provisions, to co-operate with the organisation as far as it necessary to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with. To report to the Health and Safety Manager either serious risks or your concerns over safety issues. 5. To work at any other location, as and when required. 6. To undertake any other duties which are consistent with the post.
