Task One You want to book a holiday. You cannot decide whether to choose a holiday in the summer or winter. You decide to look online to find advantages and disadvantages of summer and winter holidays. You see the following article. Read it and answer the questions that follow. E3 WEATHER R v4 Page 2 of 12

Hot Holidays vs Cold Holidays Which holiday is ideal for you? This article sums up the positives and negatives for hot and cold holidays. HOT HOLIDAYS ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES Advantage RELAXING! Warm sunshine can be relaxing and feel nice. Spain, Turkey and Greece are the three most popular countries for U.K summer holiday makers to visit. Disadvantage BUSY! Holiday locations can become very busy and overcrowded especially during the summer holiday season which is from May through to October. Advantage MAKE NEW FRIENDS! Summer holidays are great for making new friends. Disadvantage TOO HOT! Some countries can become too hot. You could get sun burn, heat stroke, too sweaty and struggle to sleep at night. A good tip is to make sure, when booking a room at a hotel, that it has air conditioning or at least a fan to blow cool air on you. COOL WINTER HOLIDAYS ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES Advantage FUN! Winter holidays can be great fun and enjoyable. Who doesn t enjoy playing in the snow? Skiing, snowboarding and sledging are just a few winter sports that you could enjoy on a winter break. Disadvantage COLD! This goes without saying really. A winter break in the snow and ice is going to be cold. Before travelling make sure you pack plenty of warm clothing such as hats, scarves, gloves, thick jumpers etc. Advantage THE VIEWS! Some of the views you see on a winter break are quite breathtaking. The snow and ice can turn a simple few trees into something you would expect in a fairytale. Popular winter destinations are France, Switzerland and Canada. Disadvantage EXPENSIVE! Because most winter holidays involve winter sports such as skiing, it is important to have the right equipment which is not cheap. Also, you will need your cabin or hotel room warm, the price will be more expensive as you will have the cost of heating the rooms. E3 WEATHER R v4 Page 3 of 12
